  1. I rode The Beast for the first time in 1992. I grew up hearing about it, but my family just never went to the park. I was 19 in 1992, and it was just cool to experience something I had heard so much about for so long. It's still my favorite single attraction at Kings Island. I actually think The Beast has a great theme…and kind of tells a story…which I think has contributed to its long-time success. It was built at about the time the "Friday the 13th" movies were out, and it has just always reminded me of being in the middle of a horror movie. You're walking into the woods into something you really can't see…
  2. I rode it three times during the summer of 2009, and just never fell in love with it. It was thrilling for sure, but just didn't make the impression on me like some of the other rides in the park.
  3. http://instagram.com/p/M6eSmnuOEd/ Is this the International Street Theater?…looked like Timberwolf at first glance...
  4. I hate to throw gasoline on the flames of speculation, but all of the rides mentioned in this thread, along with SoB are all close neighbors. I could see how someone that is apt to jump to conclusions might think that they're all could be scrapped in the name of something all new. In all seriousness, I couldn't see the park ever not having The Racer. It would seem like it and Kings Island's identities would be too intertwined.
  5. I think I might be in the minority, but I actually like a little bit of wild speculation about the park…I think something big is going to be announced for 2013. Just a feeling I have…I have absolutely no evidence to back it up.
  6. Assuming the guy is retired, he is spending his retirement in a way that anybody would be lucky to to be able to do!
  7. I wonder if SoB's demise had anything to do with the construction of Diamondback?
  8. I can only imagine that the situation with Son of Beast and Kings Island would be like buying a new Porsche 911, only to have it not run and be forced to park it in your front yard. Like the Porsche, not only was it extremely expensive, it was supposed to provide thrills for years to come.
  9. Great photo! I was on that tour, what a unique opportunity it was.
  10. Son of Beast was operating then, too. it was a dangerous time to be at Kings Island.
  11. It's too bad they took the motion seats out of the Action Theater. A POV "Son of Beast Experience" could have went on there for years.
  12. Having never been to one, how do the Disney parks stack up to how they were originally? Is it a similar situation compared to Kings Island?
  13. I think the park should have considered the name that you used for this thread!
  14. Personally, I'd like to see a low to the ground ravine runner coaster as opposed to something similar to DB.
  15. I love to just walk around the park. If I lived closer, I'd do it all the time. Your experience(s) may vary.
  16. stky6, thanks for sharing your stories! Very interesting, and definitely from a perspective I've never heard before!
  17. I'll have to ride FoF soon to see if I notice the same thing. I can't say I remember ever "dangling" from it like Vortex.
  18. Wow, that's really surprising. That part has freaked me out for the 20 years I've been riding Vortex. How interesting.
  19. You mean you wouldn't fall out during the corkscrew? (I'm seriously asking)
  20. What a great report and great pictures! Thanks for sharing. Tuesday would have been a great day for a trip…fantastic weather. I need to get back soon!
  21. I remember I went to HH opening night in 2009. The first thing I wanted to ride was FD. There was no one else. Along with the dreary weather, the Halloween atmosphere, and me riding FD all by myself, needless to say, it was an eerie experience!
  22. I think you get one for every tenth post in the "whats next for sob" thread.
  23. They are offering a neat shirt with the original KI logo and all of the rides listed that were open in 1972. I believe it said "opening spring of 1972" on the front, also.
  24. I think Kings Island should donate a dollar for each post in the SoB thread to charity.
