I was watching the POV video of DB a little bit ago, and you can almost feel the airtime just watching the video. Diamondback will definitely be like nothing I've ever experienced!
Sonofbeast07's pics are the first ones that have put Diamondback in perspective for me. I just can't believe how massive it is; also how it dwarfs Vortex. I haven't been to the park since KIC day, either.

If you're really into Kings Island history, you need to check out Google's archived newspaper articles.
Here's a link to Kings Island articles since the park opened:

Many require money/subscriptions to read, but there's several you can read in their entirety, just like you're reading an old newspaper.
I've rode Invertigo (when it was Face/Off) several times. Even having said that, I haven't rode it for a long time. Still gives me the willies. I'll have to see what my mood is this Saturday, though!
Someday, I'd like to have a group of people, when the rope is dropped, take off running to...Viking Fury. Get there all out of breath and give each other a high five, saying things like "yes, before the crowds!".
That's what's been confusing me. I know the KIC day registration opens at 8, but I haven't gotten into the parking lot (albeit on a weekday) before 9-9:15 all this year.
No, you will just enter the lot as you normally would. Its very hard to tell people there that thay cant come in and they need to back up and wait.
That's what I was wondering. If the general public is there waiting in line for the parking lot to open, how do we get in the lot at 8:30?
I'd imagine that it creates a pretty cool sensation in that it'll seem like you're heading right into the water, when you 'spalsh down' you hear the water splashing..yet you don't get wet.
It's also a great visual for people just watching the ride. From a rider's perspective, the splash down probably won't be noticeable, but it will look really cool to observers.
This is going to be one of those visually "artistic" coasters that you have crowds of people just standing around watching it run...like TTD at CP or Sheikra at BGT.
I would think this will become one of KI's "signature" photo ops, just like the fountains with the Tower in the background. Everyone will have a pic of Diamondback's splashdown in their photo albums.
I think it looks like a great design, and I can't wait to ride it.
The big question, though:
What the heck is everybody going to talk about on here now?
Its not Mustang!
P-51 Mustangs don't have eye's. The eye is there to throw you off.
It is because they eye is one giant clue.
Makes me think of the old song "The Eye of the Tiger".
Seriously, in addition to the major rides, don't miss Viking Fury, Congo Falls, Wild Thornsberry's, or White Water Canyon. You may want to check out a few rides in NU. These rides aren't the most "intense", but they are a blast.
Thanks for posting that. I actually received the e-mail, but didn't scroll down far enough to see that blurb.
I really think that if only The Beast, alone, sat in a field where Kings Island is now, I would still make the trip to ride it.
