  1. Lots of greasy food + amusement park rides never mixed for me anyway. At most, a slice of cheese LaRosa's, and I'm good for the whole day.
  2. In no particular order: Racer Eifel Tower Beast Viking Fury For me, no trip is complete without rides on these. A few of the things that make KI the park that it is. The newer rides are of course fun, but I LOVE the vibe I get with the older stuff in the park.
  3. Awesome update. Can't believe this thing is almost ready to ride!! Seems like I was just reading about pieces of coaster lying in the parking lot....lol
  4. I was off yesterday, and thought about making the trip, but it didn't happen. Sounds like it was a great day. I am shooting for a couple days the first week of June. For a long time, I've wanted to dedicate the better part of a day to Boomerang Bay. These TR's are making me antsy!!
  5. I am so unbelievably impressed with the images I am seeing. I can't wait to get there. I love the signs they have in Coney Mall pointing to FoF and Firehawk. One of the best things about this whole setup, I think, is all the extra attention it will bring to the FoF area. I've always thought that FoF has always been downplayed somewhat, especially with its location. The addition of Firehawk and the extra theming just seems to really accentuate FoF's concept.
  6. My eyes are not believing Firehawk. Its one thing to read, read, read about something, but that looks completely amazing. Isn't that photo booth the most elborate one in the park? Those pictures are really impressive.
  7. 1972 film reel of Partridge Family at KI Maybe convert it to a file so everybody can see it??!!

    Top Gun

It is kind of sad the condition that TG is in these days. I rode it a couple months after it opened. It was a really neat experience. Everybody in flight suits, all the effects that made the (2-story) queue look like a bomber, and, if I remember right, even fog??
  9. I break into a cold sweat if I walk by Slingshot or Skyflier. I've been on Drop Zone twice and Delerium once. I was scared to death. Give me a roller coaster any day.
  10. Even though I'm not going to make it to KI this weekend, I am really glad they had such good weather to get their season going. Can't wait to get there soon!!
  11. They should be showing THESE videos on all the TV screens at the park!!
  12. I'm getting really excited about getting to the park. I'd love to see some of the pics you guys snapped to see any updates you saw to the park. (Geez, I can't believe I'm wanting to see pics of Kings Island, even closed!! )
  13. That's one of the most special pieces of film I have ever seen. How lucky that somebody had that footage and shared it.
  14. This site and its members never fail to amaze me. Jaw-dropping photos...
  15. Awesome pics. How long did they use that LOOOOONG queue? I rode it in '92-'93, don't remember that being there then. BTW, haven't been around in several weeks. Glad to be back and reading the forums!!
  16. I agree. I enjoy hearing that music while entering the gates. One of the best parts of the day there.
  17. Maybe they're just changing machines. Didn't they all have the "p" word on them?

    how fun!

Uh, I think that would be right up there with naming a new cruise ship The Titanic.
  19. I wouldn't worry a whole lot about the amusement park industry yet. Right now, out of 4,000 schools in Ohio, only 50 have a year-round schedule (1.25%). Indiana is right is also right at 1% (22/1800).
  20. An amazing report. Now its not IF I go to WDW, its WHEN!! Thanks for much a thorough report. BTW, that thing about the pink concrete I found really brilliant. KI could use some of that around the park.
  21. ^I agree with you guys as well. The older I get, the more amazed/thankful I, living in a small town in Sourthern Ohio, can drive a little more than an hour and go to a place on the scale of Kings Island.
  22. In the construction pics, there's lots of forms for what looks like poured walls. Is this a foundation for the station?
  23. I'd like to see that! I bought a postcard with an aerial view of the park from '75. Also a park map from '79. So interesting looking at what the park looked like then.
