  1. You've lost your touch, man. I'm disappointed.
  2. Not to hijack the thread, but what have you read? It seems like a regular ride with automatic operations...but maybe I'm wrong. Since we had this conversation, I'll pass along an interesting article originally posted on IOE's Facebook that explains exactly why Auto Race was difficult to operate. It also explains what changed when IOE updated the controls and why: http://themeparkuniversity.com/backstage-access/modernizing-auto-race-attraction-kennywood/
  3. You all look very nice today.
  4. I'll add my glowing and not-perpetual-enough recommendation on that, if that helps you stomach the parking any more--Great Adventure is amazing. If you're asking me, it's eons better than Great America in terms of ride quality. Out of the Six Flags I've been to (Great America, St. Louis, Fiesta Texas, over Georgia, Great Adventure, and America), I'd easily say Great Adventure is the best of the bunch. There are parts/rides of Fiesta Texas and St. Louis that I enjoy more, but in terms of the overall experience, you can't beat Great Adventure out of that group. As a fellow Tomb Raider: The Ride fan, you're going to enjoy the Golden Kingdom area of the park. It WILL feel like you ought to be able to turn the corner and enter a certain dimly-lit cavern. If you enjoyed The Dark Knight at Great America, Great Adventure's was maintained better, at least as of 2012. They've even added references to The Dark Knight Rises/Bane to the queue, despite that the ride is centered around the Joker. And then there's El Toro and Runaway Mine Train and Skull Mountain and Medusa... ah. I wish I could drop everything and go there now. This dang post gave me Great Adventure feels.
  5. You misspelled "Hurler". FTW, only half-teasing and who picked an exceptionally unmemorable 150th coaster... Then again, I've never been THAT into B&M. Afterburn, however...
  6. I know the wobbly thing, if the wobbly thing is the wobbly thing it does on the lift. Otherwise, no.
  7. I don't think I can be friends with you. (I'm kidding. I just really love Adventure Express)
  8. And I enjoy Blue Streak more than most things at Kings Island and Cedar Point, Adventure Express and Magnum XL-200 excluded.
  9. One time? Who can do that? Certainly not this writer! THIS. One of the most out-of-this-world insane rides I've ever had on Magnum was in 1-3 after a rain storm and without trim brakes before the turnaround. This was in 2009. I think I still have the leg bruises, but holy cow.
  10. Combine these signs with Screamscape's rumored markers at Six Flags over Georgia, and suddenly I'm very nervous about the future of one of my favorite wooden coasters.
  11. I offered that we take Vortex from Carowinds... In all honesty, it's the only B&M stand-up I've genuinely enjoyed. Maybe I wasn't in the right mood for it, but Georgia Scorcher--typically one of enthusiasts' favorite B&M stand-ups--did little to nothing for me. But hey, I also really like Boss... (Have I mentioned that yet? )
  12. I can't remember where I read it, but something I've read said Raging Water Rapids will be back this year. I'll be totally honest: as much as I liked Kentucky Kingdom this year, I'm doubtful T3 alone will be enough to get me back there in 2015. Even a simple flat ride addition would make it significantly more likely. Twisted Twins, though... Here's hoping they make it to 2016.
  13. Pilgrim's Plunge isn't rumored to leave. It's already left. The fact that they did leave the splashdown does make me wonder if they'll use it in the future for a ride, though.
  14. Hail Hydra. Wait, wrong Hydra... (Anyone seen the latest Captain America movie...?)
  15. If we're talking about taking Carowinds' coasters (which I figure they've pretty much got coming to them since they stole our Eagles ), I'll have Hurler, please. Or Carolina Goldrusher. Or Vortex. Thanks.
  16. Yeah. You enter the park and make the first left off of International Street. Berzerker's location is to Kings Dominion as the Festhaus's location is to Kings Island, except there is no Kings Island Theater pathway at KD. You really can't miss it... no matter how hard you try.
  17. ^ Intamin's relationship Mayflower? Not a Chance.
  18. Viking Fury is an enjoyable ride that the whole family will love. Berzerker is all the fun of an asthma attack combined with a claustrophobic's worst nightmare and wrapped in a ride cycle that feels like it's never going to end. Berzerker is the definition of cruel and unusual punishment and has probably been considered for use at Guantanamo Bay. It brings me joy to imagine my enemies riding Berzerker. I chose Viking Fury.
  19. Fun factoid: According to one of the last few Amusement Today issues, the ride itself was designed by Zamperla. I'm assuming Triotech is just involved in the special effect aspects of it. With the delays involved with WMG, I do wonder if we'll see this exact ride system copied elsewhere.
  20. Voyage has on-ride photos, but I think that's the only ride that does. I haven't bought one in years, so I don't remember how much it costs. I also don't recall how much shirts cost, apart from being under $20, if I'm remembering correctly.
  21. Last time I checked Gatekeeper wasn't at Kings Island. razmataz, who just had to Whoops! Darned mobile theme cut off the "at KI" part. This is awkward.
  22. I think the longest I've ever waited was 3 hours for Gatekeeper. That was really unpleasant, because I was already there for a somewhat limited amount of time and had already spent a majority of the day waiting for just that one ride. I like Gatekeeper, but I wouldn't wait any longer than 30-45 minutes for it.
  23. The riders are up on Drop Tower. And then they aren't. That's kind of how it works.
  24. ^ Sways? Like, the track and supports sway? EDIT: One regrettable Facebook search later... There appears to be a video circulating Facebook of the hill after the first over banked turn swaying a bit after a train passes over it. Sigh.
  25. Really? Midwest stuffy? Try Atlanta or the Northeast. Or even Los Angeles. That's stuffy.Try open social interaction with random strangers in New England. Let me know how THAT goes. I was going to say something like this, too. I've found the Midwest to be one of the friendlier areas in the country that I've been to, with the South being the only friendlier area I can think of right now. (Of course, I'm from the Midwest, so perhaps I'm a little biased.) The only exception to this that I've experienced is the western Pennsylvania area, and especially Erie. (No offense, Browntggr!) The times I've visited Erie recently, I think just about everyone I've met has been really unfriendly. On the subject of high fives in line: one of my friends is a germaphobe, so I understand the aversion to high fiving random strangers. Like others have said, you're going to experience other people's germs at an amusement park whether you want to or not; people touch EVERYTHING there. Think about it. For me, it brightens my day a little to high five people, so I'm always down for a high five if someone offers. Pennsylvania isn't in the Midwest.BB7, who knows his geography. I'm not really saying all of Pennsylvania is in the Midwest--just the western part of it, including Pittsburgh and Erie. In my opinion, that area has more in common with the Midwest than it does the East.
