  1. Yeah, but that is such a scenic drive with such amazing natural beauty all around you
  2. Two reasons spring to mind: - Riding a coaster like Little Bills is for the fun I have spending time with my 3 year old doing something he likes - Riding the FOC or other classic junior coasters (I wouldn't call it a kiddie) is also considered fun by many. While it doesn't solve the Diamondback or Beast adrenaline junkie need, it serves its purpose well. I'll take a FOC ride over an Invertigo ride or an AE ride any day
  3. Beast1979's day sounds almost perfect, but I wouldn't just do the lap once. I'd want to ride everything: coasters, flats, pay attractions, and I'd want to make sure I got night rides on the following: Beast, Diamondback, SoB, Racer, Firehawk, Flight Deck
  4. You could have just claimed that FoF is three words, which in some ways it is.
  5. Looking at the size of the cab of the truck itself, it does look to me like a standard 40' Open Top (ISO Code 42 U1) Specifically, it looks like a Hapag-lloyd Container - Orange Structure, Blue top http://www.hapag-lloyd.com/downloads/press...fication_en.pdf
  6. Standard shipping containers are normally either 20' or 40' long. http://www.shippingcontainers.com/newcontain.htm
  7. Regarding Terpy's age, this was posted in the following forum http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?...ic=17751&hl=
  8. I've got five rides in on ERT and I rode The Beast twice so I do think so. Like crowds on any day, ERT crowds on DB are also very variable.
  9. In no particular order: - Diamondback - Beast - Wildfire (Silver Dollar City) - Raptor - Space Mountain (WDW) But - there are way too many rides yet to be ridden that could change these
  10. CoasterRZ - thanks for posting this. It is truly some outstanding work and something that I am thouroughly enjoying reading (although I'm not finished with the document quite yet) as it draws together several of my interests in theme parks, architecture, and history of locations. In that regard, if you do ever get into executing a project like this, I hope you include a small museum for the history associated with the site as that is something I think is often lacking when a historical site is renovated into something new. Thanks again - I hope you are able to follow your passions with your career. Yes (but I won't spoil the fun for anyone else who wants to search by revealing)
  11. All - thanks for the support, I am definitely going to enjoy this next phase of riding. Auge.dog - I avoided Vortex and Beast with my son as well (both because the lines were ridiculous and because, even though they are 48" rides, I am a little concerned that they may be too jarring for my 5 year old and don't want him to have a bad experience ruin his fun. We'll have to see if I change my mind later this season
  12. I'm sure there is someone who could have created a much better list - yes Terpy (or anyone else who's experienced enough parks to know), I'm asking you to give us your top 10 underated parks:
  13. Nice pic, but wouldn't it look so much better without the ugly box next door! Please note, that I am not advocating removal of Crypt - I just think it looks awful in what has become again a great area of the park.
  14. I'm giving up on this thread... Apparently I'm not good at either conspiracy theory or humor, will have to settle for stupid
  15. What's interesting to me is that JamminJ joined KIC back in October of 2007 and has never posted anything on KIC until this? What the guy wakes up yesterday and says - hey I remember my KIC username and password, let me go post this topic there. I think its a CF/Carrowinds PR dept created account that they have used for a while to monitor KIC that they finally decided to use to post something since KD was getting all the love. Either that or Dane/BoddaH are a part of this conspiracy and changed the join date.
  16. I had posted the following on a different thread earlier this week, but will cut/paste it here to add to the congrats. - On a different tack: Have others, beside me, noticed that Terpy is closing in on post # 20,000. While I know he doesn't care about post counts (just see his responses when his post count is discussed), I think that is a pretty decent milestone as well - especially since most of his post are informative, beneficial to the community at large, and/or funny. I think there should be a contest to guess when and where his 20,000th post is made or whether it will include a "*sigh*", a "HAD to", or a "just sayin'"
  17. I understand that - I was suggesting that you try and find a way to go on Saturday night for the midnight ride only, then spend the day there on Sunday and Monday.
  18. Pretty sure it already is ... http://www.bing.com/maps/default.aspx?v=2&...1&encType=1 Yep, there's the proof.
  19. You need to play the weather wait and see game and make your choice between Thursday and Friday based upon that.
  20. I'd recommend Sunday and Monday - I've got as many ERT rides on DB on a Sunday as a Saturday despite the 30 minutes less time. Also I'm assuming you are planning on staying in town for one night. To try and get the midnight ride on DB, you need to go looking for hotel deals for 2 nights at a similar price to one to allow you to drive in on Saturday (once your here you might as well go ride).
  21. Holy quintuple post Batman. I'm just breaking your string to let you know that at least someone is reading this.

    New Coaster?

Hey Terpy - thanks for the insight
  23. I for one am glad many of you do take your camera and take so many pictures and post them. While I can look at something and see the artsyness of it, I've never been able to take really great pictures like I've seen on this site. I've tried photography classes and supposedly better camera's but nothing has worked. I most often end up buying prints of things I really want a major memory of although recently had some success with a group of Golden Gate Bridge shots I took last year (of course I had to turn them black and white and edit the lighting on them to make them really work well together).
  24. I'm sure there is a logical explanation (dormant accounts maybe?) but how does member # and number of registered members add up, since many of us have member numbers above 4500? Also is there a member #1? I noted that Dane is #2 and BoddaH is #23? As to Milestones: - Congrats to the folks who created and built this site! - On a different tack: Have others, beside me, noticed that Terpy is closing in on post # 20,000. 25. I just love the g-forces I encounter getting slammed around The Beast car in the straightaway shed trim brakes or on Vortex when stopping behind SR&R Seriously, Beast double helix is my favorite right now, followed closely by Flight Deck but all time favorite had to be on King Cobra (loop, bunny hops, and dip to the left while standing were great).
