  1. And? What if I didnt know I have an exsisting condition? What if I have normal everything but just 1 weak wall in the artery in my brain. BEtween the jack hammering and constant throwing back and forth, if I hit my head wrong I could pop the artery.... Plus where does it say "Every rider should ride defensively to be safe on this ride. Please do not look to your left or right. Hold tightly to the bar and lean?

  3. He is new here, so let him make new threads. If you dont like a thread, dont comment in it. Be nice to everyone and everyone will be nice to you. The guy had a question about a coaster... where would he have put it? While I agree about being nice, it is also helpful to provide constructive feedback to new posters sometimes. Helping them realize that joining the community doesn't require creating new threads constantly, and following the Terms of Service and taking the time to correctly spell and punctuate is important. Also, it helps build repect if you don't disagree and ignore reality when provided with facts by long time/respected members. So yeah, be nice and welcoming, but also help the new members become productive members is my theory. Agreed, but I remember when I was a new member that feedback was given to me in private messages. Not called to stand out in front of everyone.... Seriously, why doesnt KIC have a spell check button on here anyways?
  4. An interesting fellow, who on the surface is a person most people would state is a bad horrible man. But he has probably been one of the most influential musicians in country/all of music. Would I let my family go to a concert of his? No way, but he will sure bring in a crowd of some sort.

GL was a park situated very close to the flagship park of the franchise. GL was a park that had coasters shipped out to make it "family friendly." Currently, CF is going throug ha "family friendly" process of improving food services and keeping families in the park. Not sure you can honestly say that a companies decision from years ago is the same as the new decisions the park company is making...

  8. Agreed. Shows that are not musical are actually entertaining and fun. Music is good, but after a while.. it just gets... blah.... I miss the dolphins..
  9. Didn't we just prove that if a ride had a problem with its foundation (whether shifting, sinking, or just not right), they did make changes - and quickly. Thats my point. Sorry if it was confusing. Park guests who make absurd comments about things that wouldnt make sense if they just thought about it for a few moments, really bothers me.....
  10. I want to give props to The Beast crew from Saturday. I went early Saturday during power hour (which I didnt know about) and bugged the ride opps about questions (what the most riders in an hour for the best?), they got one of our crew locked and ready to go (our person needed help getting the second click), and then the late night crew had the trains loud before closing. My nephew had never ridden The Beast, and the crew + The Beast at night = his fav ride of the whole day... way to go Beast Crew! I like the "if you like to ride The Beast, clap your hands!"
  11. ^ I think that is the best point right there. I get the "what if scenarios?" but if you do with one, you must do with all. Okay so he may not be able to hold on, but what would the person who has CP or parkinson's do? They can transfer from wheel chair to coaster car (as they should), but what would happen in an emergency?
  12. Same thing on Saturday ^. Longest wait was either Firehawk (45 minsish) or Invertigo (30 mins or so). Flight of Fear had a posted time of about an hour, and our group decided not to test it. We actually looked at fast passes because 2 of our group was from out of town and we wanted to make sure they got on all of the rides... 140$ for 4 people. Totally not worth it for my wife and I as we live 25 mins from the park. We could come back to try other rides as needed. But I felt bad for others in our party because it was just priced out of their price range. $36 x 2 = $72 for tickets + $26 for dinner in the park (packed our lunch) = $98 for 2 people in the park. Now adding an additional $70 to that price? Little too high for us.... that being said, my wife and I may do that on our trip to Orlando this year...
  13. I actually dont mind the people on The Racer talking about it going backwards. It ran backwards for many years, so many that most park patrons never knew it any other way. Now its switched to go forward again. Yes I know it has been this way for a few years now, but this weekend was the first time I had gone to KI in about 3-4 years and I had a moment walking to The Racer thinking "I want to ride the backwards one" before catching myself.... Those mistakes dont bother me as much as the pure crazy/stupid comments. If a ride seriously broke down or was sinking or etc. the park would make changes, quickly right?
  14. I was at the park on Saturday and was in line with my nephew for Stunt Coaster. A group of kids (under the age of 11/12?) started talking to my nephew (10) and myself (25+). The kids' mom was standing in the grass by the que talking and watching the kids (not sure why she didnt just stand in line, but W.E. The little girl says "Did you know that when Wind Seeker opened up, a dummy flew out?" and I said: "Oh I didnt, that sounds bad," really I didnt want to stand there and correct a little girl... then her mom drops this bomb "Oh no, when the dummy flew out it landed in Soak City. That is why the ride was down a lot last year. The had to take some of it down to lower its height, slow its speed down, and create better seats." Yea I didnt know what to say to that.... I could have taught her the physics needed to throw a dummy to Soak City, how stupid her comment was, or even ask the question of "why would they need to take parts off of it to lower it?"
  15. I saw this show on Saturday and all I can say is its too short!! Honestly, it was a very fun show, my self, my wife, sister-in-law, and nephew loved the show. It was fun, fast paced and a nice relaxing moment in the park. Plus how often do you get to see Max from Saved by the Bell do magic at your local theme park?
  16. I will be going on Sunday to KI for the first time in about 2-3 years... Hope DB is up and running as I have never rode it...
  17. I rode DT on my last trip to Cedar Point. I am not sure if I loved the ride or hated it. It was a nice walk on ride and was some what thrilling. But it was also way too dark and not very long.... Again, not sure how I feel about it...
  18. plus I would wager a guess that the system is still evolving. I mean I am sure the company had an idea but as it gets used it would make sense to fine tune things....
  19. Just from a non-involved person, it seems like the Koch's can walk away from this, no matter what, looking like saints. If they open the park they have reserected a defunct park. If this does not work out, they can blame the evil fair board, and they still looks like they tried. If the fair board really feels the park is in good shape, they should open it up to a news crew and let them walk around in there....

  21. I understand that sometimes lodging a complaint is not easy, but like you found out, once you get through the chains of command it worked out well for you... and some companies may follow up on FB complaints, Im sure action is quicker in other forms...
  22. I dont know why but I love the merely merrily combo.. such alliteration.... But even if its just to stir the pot, its a vested interest to just upset people who enjoy the park possibly? merely merrily mashing the massive metal container...
  23. Something they taught us in Research Methods was: Consider the Source. I read anything and everything (this goes for my job and my hobbies), but the big thing to remember is who is financing the company who is providing the information. The basic facts of the story will remain the same but the details and "sway" words will be different based on the motive behind the company. For example, who would give a fair evaluation of a new Disney ride? NBC or ABC? Neither since they both have stakes in the company for different reasons..... But overall, a forum website such as KIC or KIE can be a great place for information, but ultimately the source of the information comes from people who have some sort of vested interest in the parks (either good or bad), and if they didnt have interest, they would not be on here...

I think there is a fine line between "complaining" and "critiquing" especially a big corporation such as FUN or SIXX, etc. Truth be told, companies look to make the park appeal to the largest amount of people with the most money to spend. If they listened to the enthusiasts or even just the people who love their home parks decisions would be made at the local level. Very rarely are decisions made at the local level for these parks. If it costs a lot of money, then its a guarantee that the decision is made in a board room, not a park conference room (unless said meeting happened in the park). There is nothing wrong with being proactive with a company. If KI needs more family sit down theater shows, then the responsibility falls directly on the customer base to tell the company what they want. In this scenario the customers can be the enthusiasts or normal patrons. When it comes to saving old rides from being discarded like trash, the enthusiast crowd should become more vocal. But ultimately it comes down to apathy. If the general public is okay letting XY and Z happen then it does. When a burger is served cold and no one complains then the company wont make the steps to fix it. Complaining or critiquing a company online is just part of the apathy. Doing it online may or may not get noticed. Odds are it will just get lost in the drowning voices of people complaining and critiques go unheard.
  25. wow! A great article with great reader comments.... I think it is interesting to read about the demise of the park. It does make you look at CF just a bit different. However, I loved the Online Coaster Enthusiasts Model.... is this what happens here at KIC? We have a tendency to not be too harsh unless its a ride that the company has already crushed.... Plus I love this quote I never realized CF owned most if not all of the Ohio and Michigan Parks.... So much for competition to make the parks better. Now we rely on the mother company to make decisions to make all the parks better with a moment of Sameness (WindSeeker?) and why not here are some photos I took as I drove around the park about 2 years ago (nothing like in the article) www.flickr.com/photos/49728734@N02/
