Decoding Episode II: Rivertown 2017 and the Falling Trees
shark6495 replied to jcgoble3's topic in Kings Island
I have every intention of going and buying my printed copies on Monday. Will make a nice souvenir to add to my collection. I will not be posting them in any forums or social media until the park make their announcement. By that time, it won't matter to anyone if I did or not and would be no sense in doing so. Wait... How far back do these plans go back? It would be cool to get a copy of say The Beast blueprints for my basement... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Are you a DVC member? We just started so I would love to hear your thoughts about the program as someone who has used it for a while. We were explained that the points change base on only a few things. So for example if a room changes from say a non preferred to a preferred view. Say the room went from a view of the woods/parking lot to a view of a park expansion. And the other thing is if the prime time season changes. I'm sure I'll have more data as the years progress though Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Some people enjoy "fixing" or "making things". So for some greener pastures can always be something that needs to be fixed. They enjoy it. Other people love to fix something and then continue to shape it for the rest of their career. No idea which one is our current CEO. Maybe they offered and he turned it down? Less they pay him he more they can pay other people to keep them on board rowing in the same direction? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Agreed. Since my little guy is almost 36 inches and will hit that mark this summer, my view of what we can or can't do in the park has severely changed. Maybe this will add something else for everyone to enjoy. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

There's nothing wrong with that... We're the only major CF park without one, and now we'd have to wait an additional 6 years. Of course there is something wrong with that. Well that's one opinion.... If there is no giga will you not come back? Reality check. We can't all get what we want. We all like different things. That's the truth. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
DVC is only eligible to book at their home resort 9 months out and other resorts 6 months out. But the points don't change. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Okay and I guess people who don't like haunts should also not ride then. And as a whole both parks are very family friendly. No one is changing the ride chief Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
The park also offers parent swap. Where one parent or part of the group waits in line and the other half waits with the kiddos. Then when the riders get off the pass gets signed and the other part of the group walks up the exit and rides. It helps make park visits very nice Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Also KCKC was where I learned what certain pot smelled like....occasionally you could get a whiff of something up high with the trees Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Welcome (why do new people have the word banned under them on Tap Talk?). Also there are few on here (myself and Terp for sure) who just love open mic spiels..... But in all seriousness (and quoting great Xmen covers) welcome to KIC, you know the rest ! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Which is sort of gross (the oil). When I worked fast food, the oil had to be replaced at most every other day (but for the most part it was emptied at night). But we also had to scrub the machine every time we emptied it, and by scrub I meal literally clean out the entire machine. I would guess that the oil is probably either changed every other day or if it is its not being cleaned appropriately... http://www.restaurantbusinessonline.com/operations/advice-guy/knowing-when-change-your-frying-oil

Yeah agreed on the scare actors. It could be very detrimental to getting young kids to enjoy rides. If I know something may be too scary for my son while we are on a ride (say Haunted Mansion at WDW) I can clover his eyes or "accidentally" reposition him to not see it. If a dude jumps out and scares me... well he would be done as well.... -

Look at all of the trees. All of the trees... and the water... oh my... Look at the trees.... I forgot about that.... Also RFYLCB was originally just the Log Flume at Coney Island right? So when it was at KI originally it was just themed to go with River Town, like sending logs down the river... Then from what I remember it was always apart of River Town (and the older part of the park) till it was rethemed to the Wild Thornberries ride... Right? -

If my memory is correct it's where the current CFA table seating is located now. It sort of acts as a cut through from where the Fred Flintstone Yogi Bear entrance to River Town was. I believe it came out where the current DB exit/gift store is located Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
I'd have paid for that service a few years back. Mom could have gone to the park with me, with dignity. They used to have that. They were called trams. They didn't. Mom went to Dollywood. And loved it. She'd have loved to have gone to Kings Island, too. Finally I convinced her to let me buy a wheelchair and push her in it. I happily suggested Kings Island. She quickly said, "No, I still want to go to Dollywood. They care about me and want me to feel welcome. Kings Island doesn't." I was speechless and had no reply. And we went. To Dollywood. They cared about her and made her feel welcome. I've never forgotten that. A park gets it. Or it doesn't. When it comes to parking lot trams, seating for seniors, shade trees, etc., Kings Island doesn't get it. Hasn't for years. A best day ever includes many generations. Or, it could. Mom looked forward to Dollywood trips. She no longer wanted to go to Kings Island. They had gotten rid of the trams. I wonder what that REALLY saved them. It cost them Mom's visits. I'm sure she wasn't and isn't the only one. "They care about me and make me feel welcome." My grandparents were the same way Terp. I wonder what will happen when my parents start to get up there in age. My dad has already said he's unsure KI will be for him next year. His body can't take the coasters anymore and he says there isn't much for him to enjoy with the grand kids or kids except for the train, the little train, and the "old Smurf building". (Kids are too small for 36 inch rides and he misses the multiple shows, yet enjoys the ones we do see). Yet he's looking forward to our trip to Disney/Universal in 2018 (either Hollywood or Orlando). Have a little guy and this is what I bring into the park. My bottle phone wallet and keys for me. A cheap ($20) umbrella stroller, a small draw string backpack with 3-5 diapers, diaper wipes, some small snacks for the kiddo (pretzels or apple sauce), and juice. If they were to steal the umbrella stroller with backpack diapers wipes and snacks I would be out ... Maybe $35 plus the bottle if they were to take it. Pack light and cheap. Plus my wallet phone and keys never leave my person Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Double post because the previous one was liked: If you want to do a lot of character meet and greets and have them autograph books, I can't recommend enough the character meals. During your hour or so with the meal (and it's A buffet so eat a bunch) you can have a little personal time with 4-6 characters. This saved us from using valuable ride time or Fast Passes on characters. It was also nice not to have to stand in a long line in the sun to meet Pooh or Mickey or Jake. This made it nicer for us all Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Agreed with Medford. Also download the app. It has food prices on there and that helped us as we used the app and outside websites to determine if it would be worth it for us. We knew we would do a lot of character buffets. And some of the buffets ran 35-42 per person. So for 60/day it made sense to us. Good luck! Also when it comes to stuff like this, helping people, these boards have some great knowledge. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Well in all fairness to the park, the major construction to the road in front of the park has more to do with the backing up of traffic to the highway than the park moving the entrance. The rest yes is totally on the park. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

In the middle of June, hot and humid (90+) at noon or so... There were maybe 5-6 people total inside the nursery areas. https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/guest-services/baby-care-centers/ https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/preschool/#openguide Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

They were very good last year but it's all about perceived value as well when you think of people with a meal plan. Previously you got a hot and freshly made cheese steak with the toppings. Now you get a (foot long) hot dog or sausage. May be just as tasty and just as filling but I can get hot dogs elsewhere in the park... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
