COSI's Adventure to Close 2017
shark6495 replied to bkroz's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
It really depends on the child. When I was a part-timer in there, I saw about 50/50 children that loved it and hated it. My oldest nephew would freak out every time I tried to take him through. The exhibit area is much darker than the rest of the building. Lights flicker and there are random ambient noises that can startle if not expected. The cavern area tends to be the hardest area for little kids - it's the loudest area with slamming doors. Before younger kids went in, I would tell them that they are going on a treasure hunt but it's a bit darker in there. The lights will never go off completely and you may walk by something that will make a noise...but it's only a noise, there is nothing there. You even get to wake up these large silly statues who sing songs for you! Honestly, you know your child best. If little shark can handle the dimness of Boo Blasters, Adventure should (in theory) be fine. I hope that helps! He loves Boo Blasters. I don't expect him to solve anything but it may be worth it to have him experience it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Would a 3 year old be too young to go to this ? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Forgive me for asking this... But couldn't the decline between the 2 years and park owners come down to advertising and such? I remember growing up Geuga Lake/Sea World, Cedar Point, KK, and Americana had adds or Coke cans etc in the Cincy area (not to mention KI). Yet now, I barely see a CP ad and hat could be that they don't want to canabalize the market and that may have hurt GL too? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

http://www.coaster101.com/2014/09/01/zippin-pippin-then-now/ How much of that is true? Because if it is that answers my question completely. Personally I'm not sure how I feel about it but it's cool and I can understand why. Part of me feels that the Zippin Pippin in Green Bay is a clone of the original but it retains its history but that's my opinion and I can see how some may see the ride is the original. Thanks for the direction terp. Follow up though. If the Big Dipper was not sold (or even if it isn't CF property) what keeps them from cloning it for their other parks? Is that basically what happened with our Racer and say Thunder Road? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Again I'm sort of confused at a coaster like Big Dipper. (This next part is all a stretch but I wonder about it for all woodies). If Coney were to buy it and move it to COney Island, how much of the coaster needs to remain to be original? Most coasters have wood replaced yearly anyway. So for example there are many pictures and I bet there may be schematics or really good designers that could recreate BD. But of CI buys it what are they buying ? Just the name? EPCOT is getting a coaster

I see your point but (respectfully) what's the point of that from an entertainment view anymore? In the 70s and 80s yes. But if it's educational give me something I can't do by ordering from Amazon or Kenwood Mall. In your energy post show I thought it was a great idea till I thought well I can buy a solar kit to charge my phone or run a remote control car. I can explore around my house or world with my own drone... The problem is that, for the most part, what EPCOT can offer we can do at home. We can explore 3-d models of the brain, we can use an app to travel 9000 miles in space. Just my thought Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

...And many grandparents make that same argument that they don't ride a thing but want to spend time with their family...well if one doesn't like it, one can choose not to purchase....or if you are so hung up on getting a lower priced pass for the young one, then purchase a platinum pass that offers such a junior pass...and be thankful that Kings Island hasn't followed the Cedar Point model and that you can still get a gold pass that gives free parking and admission to Soak City - you can only get that with a platinum at Cedar Point. Cedar Point does not offer such an equivalent bargain. With their park only pass, you can spend $30 more than the gold pass and get less. Gold pass is still an excellent value... And in both situations (lil ones and grandpa and grandma) shouldn't the park offer events that could fill the entire day? At one time they did offer a mix of daily shows that were unique and plentiful, rides that could be enjoyed by all, and an environment from the Parking lot to the fireworks that invited you to stay. I've said this before and I agree with terp. As I watch my parents continue to march on in age, I'm beginning to to see my coaster enthusiast mom become less enthusiastic about coasters and looking for more whole family offerings and I wish we had more choices. Which actually would be nice. My 3 year old is the same height restriction he was at 18 months..... So it's not like he's gaining anything by having a pass but you never know. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Cranium command maybe? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
This makes me wonder: why do they allow people to have their hands up? Since the rides state to keep every part of your body in the car at all times, couldn't they be held liable for that if someone gets injured on a ride?I'm guessing the reason they don't enforce it is much like the reason for not enforcing jaywalking: way too many people do it. Yet speeders still get pulled over even when they're going with the flow of traffic. Yet in some instances of a person crossing the street outside of a cross walk can be held liable if they are hit by a car.... Not a lawyer just know from experience. Disney bought Marvel and would love to use it in any way possible. But there is questions about how to use it because once Infinity Gauntlet comes outs GotG will be associated with the Avengers so who knows. As for Epcot the world is very different than it was before. Even only 20 years ago if a kid wanted to know what French or Chinese culture looked like they had to do a few things read a book, rent a movie, or go to a place like Epcot. Now they can turn on their phone and Google traditional Chinese dances or traditional dishes of Luxemburg not only is the information quicker but it's video or how to videos. I can watch a show from any country (almost) without leaving my bed. Epcot feels to me (imho) almost like a Ren Fair. Walk around talk to people but that's about it. The traditional shows that are often played are great but I'm not sure that that park is another must go when we return next year. (Yet I still want to try out the Frozen ride). Tl:dr I agree with tomb raider but for different reasons Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Haha well when it comes to Chinese, Panda Express is not my first choice by a long shot... Side story (off topic sorry): read an AMA about a person working at a Chinese restaurant. The reason all of the meals seem the same is because when a family wants to open a new restaurant they see what is already popular and just copy that with only 1 or 2 unique items. Panda Express has been on point (on fleek for the youngsters) all season. Plus seriously they may be the best value on the meal plan Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

On food last time I was there a few weeks back they couldn't get the Subway line right in the water park. A group of us were in line and they said the right side was drinks only so we all go to the left the girl leaves and people show up go in the right lane and they make subs... Oh well can't get it right all of the time Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

*slow clap to standing applause* Look we all disagree and talk and try to state our point. We all think we are right. If you don't think you are then why talk. That's trolling. Don't wait and best gal that's all you guys do. Go join Youngstuf on Kiextreme.... Now Sparky has any park did that ? (Be straight about a new ride?) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Oh stop it. You and a few others are the reason many have stopped posting on here... The rise of your and your posts and the decrease of other people's posters may be what kills this board.... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I love the idea of alternate time lines. I think they are better when you look at only one small change. My small change... Carl Linder is unable to do a hostile takeover of Taft Broadcasting. Since his doesn't happen, Taft doesn't spin its properties off. Taft remains a viable media company. KI remains flagship property and didn't lose its Golf Course, Hotel, or campgrounds either. KI probably doesn't get SOB or Banshee or Diamondback. KI remains at its heart a theme park with thrills. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Don't argue with small minded people. They will only bring you down to their level. How BG is allowed to remain on here is amazing Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Great addition to the conversation. Glad you are pat of these boards...... Back on topic.... Yes Railriders response is right. Something anything that just says what a terrible moment for all families involved. Out of respect for the family they would like to not comment on anything until the police have finished their investigation. There are reasons good PR teams are able to make thigs disappear. There is a formula to good and bad PR. You want to almost (from a general audience point of view) want this to disappear. WDW if I recall didn't keep making statements following the gator. The settlement was done discreetly and it blew over the best it could. I don't think they made a big deal about closing the beaches they just did it. Quietly and methodically.
