I think our Urban Sprawl really makes urban planners work even harder. Plus throw in a failed business offering and it could crush a bunch of momentum. Look at a place a little closer to KI. Forest Fair Mall went through the rebranding to become the Cincinnati Mills Mall. How does that mall change if Elder Beerman, Johnnys Toys, and Steve and Barry don't decline.... It does seem like a high bummer but I believe we talked about gentrification in another thread... If residents of the area had supported the business then those businesses wouldn't leave. Same thing with Fort Rapids. If the citizens of the area had managed to support it , then it wouldn't have closed.... Similar thing happened in Trotwood. Due to falling sales/etc the area lost a mall and numerous numerous stores and restaurants. When the last store (a less than 10 year old Target) decided to leave the local residents contacts the NAACP and other organizations trying to get them to stay. When I spoke to my mom about this (she's the one who got me to be an amusement park person) she instantly said something along the lines of this doesn't seem right, maybe the parents were hiding something. I still think a terrorist would have more impact in a ride line than say out front in front of security. for the most part it's two -8 long lines. So at most you maybe be 16 people wide... Where if something were to go off in say the Diamondback line on a busy day. I'm in the camp of "if it's not broke"... The Beast is popular. So many many many riders each year enjoy it already. If you modify something as drastic as that,( or really almost anything on the ride) you run the risk of the following: 1) upsetting repeat guests who love the ride 2) messing up the flow of the ride, a change for some air time may affect how much speed the train as for the rest of the ride, causing more trouble 3) when changing something like this more serious issues may develop due to the fundamental change in the structure Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
