Cinci Zoo Gorilla Death
shark6495 replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
This comes from anecdotal evidence of working with children and parents who have had and gotten their children back from CPS (child protective services) and others who didn't. Well depending on the prosecution from the police this info may not be useful. Many times when CPS investigates the last thing they want to do is separate or break up families for the reasons you stated. So as long as the family doesn't pose an active threat to the well being of the child or children then the kids won't be pulled away. In most cases, CPS will set up the family with a case worker or put in some parameters to help the family. **often times when the family has to be broken up its to allow the parent or parents time to get their lives on track** Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Sounds like you have a great project to do. Maybe that will give you a reason to come back to the park. If it didn't exist it might not because 1: no one wants to 2: there may not be a great audience for it. But go for it. Someone may watch it Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Before I read the daycare thing I wondered what people would think or say if it was a teacher who lost one of her kids. once I realized where the preschool/daycare is located, I've driven by it many times and probably wouldn't send my kid there but it had received a 2 and 3 star ratings out of 5 from magazines and such (before this event) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

And let's not forget that CP and KI are owned by the same people. If they make both parks the same then what's the point of visiting both. Also there is no objective way to say which is best. You can do objective data to show which has more inversions or coasters etc. but a perfect visit could make one park "better" in your eyes or someone else's. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

I don't think she needs to be attacked but saying it's her fault the kid got away is not attacking but placing blame where it belongs. This isn't about the great ape, but her child. She doesn't deserve jail time but maybe we need a law or something where CPS investigates when a child gets lost or does something like this. Not to take away the child but to help the parent. Maybe she needs help maybe she doesn't. But it's terrifying that so many are defending that children run away so quickly. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
In all fairness till the city/county/township whomever finishes that road it will be hard to judge. But I noticed last week it's even after the gates. Everyone wants in the left lane and the right lane stays empty and you can park closer. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

One of the bystanders was with her one or two kids and tried to reach for him but was already too far out. I would like to think I'd jump the railing for a strangers kid but not if it meant leaving mine unattended.... Doesn't suppose to sound harsh but I get why she didn't jump the fence herself. So I've thought about this some more. We teach our kids to take responsibility. Doesn't matter about the silverback being shot or the height of the fence or that toddlers are sneaky and fast. The parent shoulders the blame of the child getting into the attraction. When you have a child you change your parenting ability and radar based on the inherent danger. If I'm walking with my son on the side walk I put myself between him and the road, I'm watching him and keeping an eye and an ear for cars. If he were to dart into traffic it's not the side walks fault. It's mine. If we are at home or in a fenced in park my guard goes down slightly. When my son is staring at the tiger through the glass I'm keeping my eye on him so he doesn't try to break in or get stollen. Higher risk area. What if this kid didn't just wander into the gorilla enclosure. What if he got stollen. The mom would be saying it happened so quick. Yes kids are quick but if my son chokes on something it's not the food or his fault it's because I didn't do enough to make it safe. My heart breaks for this mom because the thought makes me sick. But I refuse to not blame the mom for not watching her son. Our kids are our responsibility. Not the zoo, not society, but us as parents. I pray that my son never does anything like this but I also make sure to minimize this situation from ever happening. We go to the zoo we go to KI. We go to many public and dangerous spots. But my job is to put myself in a position to keep him safe. If he's in danger I have failed. This lady failed that day as a parent. Maybe she's a great parent maybe she's not. But that day at that time she failed. Is it wrong that Maybe CPS should talk to her? No. Maybe she needs the help. Maybe it's her one time (we all have one time, or more like multiple). But she failed her son that day. Maybe the kid is always running off maybe his was his first. It doesn't matter the ape was killed the mom didn't do her parental job of watching her child. It makes me sick to think about and will serve as a reminder of why I'm so strict when watching my son. Why we practice go and stop. Why I tell people who are with me at public places that I have to stop talking because I'm watching my son. Sorry if that's a long read. But something I needed to say Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Yet when my wife and I rode Maverick we were not in love with it. TTD however is both her and my favorite ride steel or wood. She loves the Drip coaster at Busch Gardens in VA, we both love the Rip Ride and Rock It coaster at Universal, hated Raptor and loved Banshee. For most people (my self included) manufacturer doesn't matter because we don't know who made what. Still to this day if you put coaster track in front of me orientated the right way I could tell you if it was a suspended or a regular coaster and it's a steel or a wood coaster (and maybe RMC). If it's fun and unique and offers a reliable and safe ride then I'm all for it. I only know about the companies by this board. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

If we all agreed we wouldn't have ice cream flavors a or different foods or different rides. It would be terribly boring. And I don't mean to be condescending. What do you think it could be. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

I love that you have 110 coasters ranked. I'm a terrible park guest I have my top 5 (maybe) and don't remember many of them :/. I'll be honest if nothing else changes at the park I'm happy about the covered walk way Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Not talking about you. I am talking about people that act like "yes" men for the park. Hey Beast Gal how's it going. Hope you are doing great. Also, don't need to defend the post count comment but for anyone who cares.... A new poster posted a trolling comment, when I clicked on his name it said he was banned so I made he comment that a banned poster shouldn't be taken too seriously. Evidently it was just a tap talk error. So then it became my error. But yes sure I hate people with low post counts. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Never in my post did I say that that photo came from Kings Island itself. I simply credited the account from which the picture came. If you assumed that it was from the park that is your fault. You know- this forum has not made me or my contributions feel welcome at all. It honestly just makes me upset that no one can just have fun determining if things are clues and enjoying coaster talk together. Everyone has to prove they're right and belittle those with different opinions. This doesn't want to make me join any enthusiast groups if that's how it will be. [emoji17] Sorry to have "stirred the pot" though if silly words on a screen really ruffle your feathers that much I'm actually sorry for you. Don't worry- I won't be contributing further. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk That should catch you up. My post pertains to the ones I quoted. For some reason when I sent it it got buried. My bad! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Can't agree more. I feel terrible the animal died just part of me (I hate that cows die but they are delicious sooo there's that too). But ultimately we are the highest on the food chain and we do what we must to protect our kind. But if that was my kid, without a second of hesitation I would have cleared that first hurdle and tried to get him. Or if he was in the enclosure did my best to try and get the attention away. I would die for my kid or my nephews and nieces. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
I think I have made more compliments than negatives. However, not condoning the guests behavior but hot days+stress+unexpected consequences or outcomes and you get that person yelling. Dehydration is a killer. I don't think I have ever complained at the eateries. If the person cares and was working their butt off and things are going bad they can't work harder to fix it. If they don't care they won't anyway. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

1. If you post about something you could say from xx which is not part of the park. Sorry you feel that way but your allowed to post what you want and others are allowed to comment on that if you don't like it well.... No one is forcing you to participate 2. Also no one acts like they are employed by the park. Some people are employed by the park, some people work in the field, and others don't like BS Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
