  1. The price of a chili cheese dog at Skyline isn't too bad. It's a pretty decent value, and those usually hold me over for a while. They're less than $4.00 though!
  2. Hey, in the "Our Terrible Predictions" topic, I totally called a Mack Wild Mouse like KBF weeks ago!
  3. I went to Kings Island this afternoon with my girlfriend, and we got there around 1:30. As it turns out, this was just in time for Don's tweet-up! At first, I thought he was going to be at Madame Fatale's, but the last clue basically told me to turn around and go the other way over to Ed Alonzo's. We were the first to find him, so we received a front of the line pass, which was valid for today only! Mr. Helbig was very nice, took our photo, and asked us if we liked the whole Tweet-Up deal, which was and obvious yes, especially since we won! After all of that excitement, we stuck around and watched Ed Alonzo's show, which was my first time of the year. As always, it was fantastic. We then went to visit Project 2014, and our new scarecrow friends! It looks a lot more developed than last time I was there, which was about 3 weeks ago. And yes, it is fun to watch people look through that gap in the fence and scream/mutter expletives. After that, we worked our way through the park, and eventually ended up using our front of the line pass at Beast, which was great as always. I also took my 60th ride on Diamondback, which isn't really much of an accomplishment compared to some of you, but is the highest total of any ride for me, so I'm gonna celebrate it! My lady friend wanted to go over to Soak City, because neither of us had been there yet this season. All we did over there was the wavepool and the Splash (and not very lazy) River. Overall, the park was not too crowded today, and it was a fun day in a fun park! Thanks for reading, and as always if you have any questions, feel free to ask! Photos below! Me and my girl (and apparently fellow KIC member hittmanj!) Photo credit: Mr. Don Helbig (via KI's Twitter) Our front of the line ticket On a side note, I am leaving for vacation tomorrow, which means no laptop for a week. Can't wait to sift through 30 pages of decoding when I get back!
  4. I was one of those two younger people, with my girlfriend Details will be in my trip report for today!
  5. I'll be there! Hopefully I can figure out the clues
  6. Who says they will even announce it this year? When Cedar Point built Top Thrill Dragster they just kept building higher and higher, leaving us more and more intrigued. It wasn't officially announced until January, when the track was nearly completed.
  7. At what point do they close an amusement park because some one died riding a ride they love? The performers at these shows know the consiquenses of what they do, and they do it because they love to do it. They love to perform, they love the addrenalen rush, and they love to fly. Most of all they would not want a show cancled because of an accident. Also, the International Council of Air Shows ( http://www.airshows.aero/ ) regulates and licenses all the performers, only the best get to perform. As for this particular air show, it is one of the oldest in the nation and has one of the best safety records. In the past 40 years only two fatal accidents (3 performers and no spectators) that's a pretty good record. Air shows in general are hurting because of cut backs, no military teams are in the air or on the ground for static display. This is an industry on its own, you can't just shut it down because some one was killed or injured, for one the economic impact, and second (and most important) the people involved who dearly love what they do, and do it to teach, inspire, and to fufill dreams, not just there own but of every dreamer who dreams of flying. Yes it is worth it, and it is very important that they fly on Sunday, if not for the Dayton aviation community, then for my dear friend Charlie. Very good points. I am not originally from the Dayton area, so I wasn't entirely aware of the show's past. I knew it had been around for a while, and that flying is a big deal in this part of Ohio. I moved here in 2005, and all I had heard about it since then is that it was declining in attendance, funding was being pulled, and of course the two crashes in 2007 and 2013. It seemed to me, because that is all I knew, that this event was in decline in nearly every aspect. Thank you for enlightening me to all of this.
  8. Well, after going through this process with Gatekeeper, I would have to say step 3. Sure everything leading up to the new experience is fun, but finally getting to do it for yourself after seeing everything that goes into it is like payday after a long week of work.
  9. At what point do they cancel the air show for good? Is it worth it? I don't think so.
  10. I had placed an order for a piece of wood, but received a phone call that I would not be getting it, as the park had decided not to sell it, for various reasons. This leads me to believe that they didn't sell any wood, just bolts and track pieces.
  11. What ride was that on, just out of curiosity?
  12. That construction sign behind FoF (pic in the first post) was there when I went on 6/3!
  13. The Gemini is a wooden roller coaster look on their website I know what I'm talking about. I just did. Please point out to me where it says it is a woodie?
  14. Were you staying hydrated? I know I have had that issue at a park before, so that could be it...
  15. Business Law is a requirement for a BSBA here at OSU. I believe I will be taking it in Spring 2014 semester
  16. That seems like an awfully long walk back to the car if we have to exit at the Soak City gate. I'm not too thrilled about that part.
  17. The fact that you just compared Maverick to Backlot makes me want to cry.
  18. I believe they are just new ones to replace old ones. They have a felty (is that a word?) feel to them.
  19. And new straps on Dodgem, darnit!
