  1. Hey guys! Hope everyone's off season is going well. The 2012 version of Mitch Hawker's Wooden Coaster Poll is now open and accepting ballots until January 8th! This is (in my own humble opinion) a much more accurate poll than most seen in the industry. The more ballots the better the results so be sure to get yours in! Link to Mitch's site: http://www.ushsho.co...coasterpoll.htm A great drag and drop ballot creator tool can be found here (if you have never filled out a ballot for this poll before it can be a tad intimidating at first but this is a great place to start): http://hawker.stationbrakes.com/ Can't wait to see this year's results!
  2. Or your backyard park's GM could end up "unhappy with the ride experience"...
  3. ^What if he likes Drop Towers? Not to mention, their Drop Tower is not the same design as KI's.
  4. Seems like a nice addition for the park, certainly seems like we are starting to see the Ouimet projects starting to pop up. Exciting times!
  5. Just saw on the weather channel of all places that Knott's WindSeeker has stalled with riders aboard again today.
  6. The Addams Family ride was going to be a Gerstlauer Euro-Fighter coaster that would have been where Backlot Stunt Coaster is today.
  7. How was this bad marketing? They created hype for their new addition in 2013 just like they wanted to. Just because it isn't what some people automatically assumed it was going to be doesn't mean it was bad marketing.
  8. Always enjoy your trip reports, thanks or sharing!
  9. If you knew where to look/cared enough to find out then all of six flags projects where known beforehand too. We may not have had screenshots or exact layouts but there wasn't anything announced yesterday that was a surprise.
  10. I vote for Gatekeeper. Since it is the one I am most likely to get a chance to ride next year, it is the one I am looking forward to the most.
  11. Full Throttle looks like a fun ride but to me having it at SFMM seems a little off. It seems like another filler coaster a year after they got a filler coaster. I think this ride really could have stood out more at SFNE or even SFGAm than at the mountain. I just can't see this pulling huge crowds still two or three years down the line. Iron Rattler looks like it could be incredible and the new safari adventure at SFGAdv looks like it could be a great addition/remodel.
  12. There are pictures of a marker in the kids area up on TPR.
  13. It does look like it could be a little Legend-y, which wouldn't be a bad thing at all.
  14. Top Ten Roller Coasters at Ohio's Kings Island As someone who has a big fascination with stats/rankings I always enjoy these types of articles. Nice to see the park get an article like this all to itself.
  15. I meant visually impressive, sorry if that was unclear.
  16. I would buy that in an instant. I'm still waiting (dreaming?) for my unlimited Fast Lane add on though...
  17. I actually think the removal will take away from Flight Deck and AE. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad to see the ride go, but I enjoy the interaction with SOB that those two rides have. Say what will about the ride experience, its hard to deny that it is a very impressive structure.

  19. Well look who is back. http://www.courier-journal.com/article/20120815/NEWS01/308150091/1001/-Kentucky-Kingdom-gets-40-million-proposal-reopen-from-Ed-Hart-Louisville-business-leaders?nclick_check=1
  20. With one $30 million investment already on the books I doubt we will see another $20 million plus ride for 2013 (yes, yes I realize that this did in fact happen with both Intimidators going in the same year). That would leave very very little to go around for the rest of the parks for next year. I think we may see the boomerang come out at the end of next summer and this turn out to be a 2014-2015 project.
  21. I think that right there is the best advice anyone can give about Disney World. Go in knowing that there are things you won't get to and be ok with that ahead of time. Can you hit the all the big rides in a day if you rush around at each park? Yes. Is that the best way to get the most out of a trip to Disney? Probably not. On my first visit there my plan, that had literally been a year in the making, was shot in about 15 minutes. There is simply too much to take in to stick to any plan you have made, especially for a first time vistor. I would pick out no more than three 'absolutely must rides' in each park and then let the rest of the day come to you. There were a million things that while I planning my first Disney trip I thought for sure I would have no problem skipping...but once you are there everything changes. Take time to relax and take as much of it in as you can. It isn't a place that you can even come close to fully experiencing in week. Hope you have a great time and look forward to your TR when you get back!
