Six Flags: New for 2014
thekidd33 replied to Ride On_17's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Goliath is using topper track and Medusa is using the I-Box steel track. -
The worst for me would be Mean Streak, that was kind of expected though. The worst based on my expectations going in is Rip, Ride, Rockit at Universal. It certainly looks like a lot of fun but it was terribly rough and although the Norwegian Loop was a cool element the rest was pretty boring and the 17 (slight exaggeration) MCBRs don't exactly help the pacing.

Banshee: World's Longest Inverted Coaster
thekidd33 replied to Coasterama's topic in Coming Attractions
^I believe someone stated that the blueprints showed it to be under the station. -
From a ride experience I thought Gatekeeper was good, though not great. I enjoyed Wild Eagle a lot more. In my opinion though that is only half of the story with Gatekeeper. Gatekeeper wasn't meant to supplant Millennium Force, Maverick, or Dragster as the crown jewel of the point. It was meant to complement them which, in my opinion, it does quite well. It offers a previously unavailable ride experience, adds a tremendous new air of excitement to the front gate area, and adds another large ride to what was already (again, in my opinion) the greatest amusement park skyline in the world. It is very hard to argue that Gatekeeper isn't visually stunning. It offers a ride experience that isn't so forceful that it excludes/intimidates people from riding. I think we have all seen people trying to drag their terrified friends into line for Millennium or Dragster. It is something that everyone in the family (of a certain height) can enjoy together and that a lot of people getting off seemed eager to re-ride when I was there. Would a lot of enthusiasts have preferred to see an Intamin Woodie there? Sure. I would have too. But I think that Gatekeeper was a much better long term addition. There is absolutely nothing wrong with having another reliable people eater at The Point. In many many ways I think that they really hit a home run with this addition.

Where does it refer to it. Can you provide something more that it has the abbreviation for an inverted coaster along with a bunch of random other numbers. And we don't know 100% that that track is for us(even though i think it is, with the matching numbers) If you looked at a single Diamondback support, you would have no idea what it would go to. We are all just presuming it is an invert. No, I cannot provide anything more. As far as I know, unless Kings Island/Cedar Fair/B&M/CSF is purposely trying to trick us by changing their ride type abbreviations, the blueprints point to an invert. Those number aren't random. They are part numbers that match up to what has shown up at CSF.

When did he say that? He didn't. It was a joke.

millennium force will always be till this day the greatest intanim coaster of all time. It's forcefull, reliable, with great ride capacity, what more can be asked for in a rollercoaster? Millenium Force< I 305 Boo Blasters on Boo Hill>Millennium Gatekeeper was over $30 million. Repost this the night of, because by that time it will be lost. I'm pretty sure that $30M price tag included the cost of demolishing and rebuilding the entrance as well.

^It won't be anything related to Beast or its ill fated kin for a number of reasons stated earlier in this thread.

Might want to check with American Eagle about that.

Nice to see you post again DropZone!

Isn't the contract up after this year? I think we'll get some idea when/if the contract is renewed.

^^Yeah because no one rides Behemoth anymore. In fact I hear they are removing it. (Please be advised that the above contains the use of something known as sarcasm.)

Alpengeist is the tallest full circuit invert at 195 feet (with a drop of 170 feet).
-
Don't get disappointed just yet.

Well there is a dump truck so at this point its got to be headed towards the former right? I guess if they bring in a backhoe we will know for sure.

EPCOT Preview From 1978
thekidd33 replied to thekidd33's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
That was exactly what I was thinking as I watched myself. -
I thought a few here might find this to be an interesting and enjoyable read/watch. http://now.msn.com/epcot-preview-from-1978-is-shown-in-viral-video

^I prefer Shivering in the back due to the pull you get out of the turnaround but I agree that it is a great front seat ride as well.

What is he supposed to say? Come ride Thunder Run and our giant wheel? Sometimes you have to work with what you have.

But at the same time it brings up the same clientele issues that the park had before. How long does a newly reopened park last if it is just a daycare for tweens and teens again? Is there a middle ground?
