  1. I look forward to this topic each off season. Thank you for posting all these interesting photos!
  2. Might as well post my ballot: 1) Favorite Steel (Maverick) 2) Voyage 3) Thunderhead 4) Cornball Express 5) Shivering Timbers 6) The Beast 7) Raven 8) Blue Streak (CP) 9) Legend (HW) 10) Racer (KI) 11) Wolverine Wildcat 12) Hoosier Hurricane 13) Zach's Zoomer 14) Woodstock Express (KI) 15) Mean Streak
  3. Got my ballot in! This is the highlight of the off-season for me!
  4. It isn't all about the resources though. It is the decisions. Announcing the new attractions at 11pm for example.
  5. Isn't there some sort of out of state attendance figure that has to be met as well? If I didn't follow the industry like I do I wouldn't even have known KK was reopening (I live in Indy).
  6. Valleyfair! has posted their operating calendar for next year and I noticed that they will be open the weekend following Halloween. Is that something that KI or other CF parks have done in the past when Halloween falls on a Thursday or Friday?
  7. I'm ok with calling the topper track coasters wooden. The I-Box coasters are most certainly steel though.
  8. I am truly loving every new detail we hear about the changes/additions/upgrades not just to KI but chain wide.
  9. And doom any hope of recovering front gate discounts with in park spending.
  10. Not all the work is visible on the webcam. Just because a new support or track piece wasn't installed doesn't mean nothing happened.
  11. True, but if your price point (particularly on season passes) is too low it attracts far too many patrons that don't have money to spend once they are in the park. I'm sure they will sell a decent number of passes at $60 but are the people that are buying the $60 passes the ones that will come and buy the $7 pizza slices and $30 sweatshirts?
  12. Lightning Run looks like a fun ride that should deliver some good air. I am almost more excited for the ARM/Larson Drop Tower though. All in all it looks like they are getting a lot for their money for next year. Though it will be much more interesting to see how much they are spending 4-5 years down the line (if at all).
  13. The Beast's helix, particularly at night as mentioned, would be my favorite but the corkscrew on FoF is a close second. Honorable mention to the over bank turn on BLSC.
  14. This is just awesome news! I love the direction the park (and really CF as a whole) have been moving the last few years. It is amazing how the 'little things' can make such a difference in both perception and actual overall experience.
  15. Thanks for sharing your day. Looks like everyone had a great final day!
  16. Days of Thunder was my first 'thrill' ride ever at KI and it instantly made me fall in love with the place. I asked my parents everyday the rest of the summer if we could go back and ride it.
  17. After reading through the whole decision I no longer know what to think. It is sad to see a park and family that seem to have such a clear vision a few years ago go through such tough times. Hopefully this works out in the best interest of both the park and the family.
  18. That is quite unfortunate. The next few years could be very important ones for HW. I hope my future children and grandchildren get to experience the same fun, welcoming, and memorable park that I grew up going to each summer.
  19. Ed Hart mentions in this video that Thunder Run has completed some test runs already.
  20. There a number of things that doomed KK in the past and the bottom line is that many of those things haven't changed since the park closed. It still sits on leased land with significant height restrictions on much if the property. Offering season passes at anywhere near the prices that have been stated/hinted at by Mr. Hart will simply fill the park with teens and lower income families that don't have the buying power to keep the park afloat. Louisville is a lovely city but it simply does not have the necessary demographics to support the park long term.
  21. Great to see a solid crowd out there! That looks like waaaay more people then I have ever seen when I've been there the past few years.
