  1. Just wait until March. There's no snow tubing, spring's close enough to get everyone excited, but the park's closed for yet another month. If only SNICKERS brand candy worked on roller coaster cravings...
  2. Some single riders want to have an empty seat next to them for whatever reason. On Gatekeeper, most single riders seem to want the outside seat, meaning that many inside seats go empty.
  3. But only when it's 50° and overcast.
  4. ^ He needs to find more people to leech Internet access from at the park.
  5. A huge milestone and a generous prize, for sure. Looking forward to seeing who the lucky rider is! As a general reminder, anyone who wins a prize of significant monetary value should seek tax advice before accepting.
  6. There are 60+ other rides at Kings Island thrilling guests right now. I would guess that extended maintenance on one attraction isn't a high priority for public relations. The event this Friday might be a good chance for any curious TPR members to ask park officials about what's going on.
  7. ^ Probably one more than Goble has received. Did you beat it?
  8. More of them for Devan than for Jonathan, most likely.
  9. ^ If you go that route, instructions would be as follows: Follow signs for I-71 (north) until you reach OH-13 Follow signs for OH-13 (north) until you reach OH-250 Follow signs for OH-250 (west) until you reach Sandusky Follow signs to Cedar Point I would not advise taking that route. You will have traffic in Mansfield, both traffic and construction in Norwalk, and both traffic and construction in Sandusky. I drove OH-61/OH-598 to OH-250 earlier this season, and getting through Milan Rd was not fun. A look at ohgo.com shows that OH-250 is closed east of OH-13, so taking I-71 directly to OH-250 should be avoided.
  10. For those taking 71 to 23 to 4, the best route is to take I-71 to OH-315 N, then continue on 315 all the way until it intersects with US-23 in Delaware. That avoids the construction area and many stoplights on US-23. Taking 250 through Norwalk can be rather slow, especially with construction delays on Milan Rd in Sandusky. I don't mind 4. It's long, but most of it can be traversed at 55mph with few delays. Do take note that OH-98 is closed this week for a construction project, so don't take that exit from US-23 even if your GPS tells you to. Continue towards Marion until you hit OH-4.
  11. ^ Easiest would be 75 to 6. Shortest would be 71 to Columbus, 315 and 23 through Columbus/Delaware, then 4 to Sandusky. Another route to consider would be 71 through Columbus, 13 through Mansfield, and 250 to Sandusky.
  12. ^ Ride restraints really are not a good thing for ride operators to be joking about.
  13. ^ Just because a mark isn't registered doesn't mean that it lacks trademark protection. Proper names of all attractions, products and services of KI and its partners should be capitalized here.
  14. It was also open during Media Day/Scream for A Kid Again. I realized that it is normally (magnetically) locked when I walked straight into it early in the season.
  15. I was surprised to see a TV spot for this event airing in Columbus. KI seems to be running quite a few commercials here this season.
  16. ^ I wasn't in the park at 01:45, though I wish I would have been. Did you disrupt those actually sleeping, or were you focused on the stragglers outside tents or hanging out by Round Up?
  17. The mobile app's vendor also supplies the mobile website. Hopefully they'll be improved simultaneously. I still think that the parks' main websites should be properly functional on mobile devices, rather than redirecting to the outside vendor's site. It's 2014, not 2008.
  18. ^ I appreciate that they sing the national anthem live every morning. It's much more personal than a canned recording. I'm positive that the performers involved care a lot about they song they are singing.
  19. Fan sites and blogs can and do influence brand perception. Trademark owners have an obligation to protect their marks lest they lose them.
  20. One Terpy is generally enough. (Regarding incorrect capitalization, he was specifically asked to help with that.)
  21. In Maverick's station during ERT, getting ready to camp out next to the ride: "I don't like roller coasters."
  22. ^ Kings Island's competition extends beyond just amusement parks. They compete for time and dollars with many other forms of entertainment. Everything from travel to museums to theatre to sporting events.
  23. It looks like some great causes are benefiting this year. I am curious about the soccer balls: what happens when guests kick them too hard? As part of this campaign, KI is looking for at least 184 heads to shave on Friday, August 1 to raise awareness and break a world record: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0b4baeaa23a13-kings Greg Sheid registered to have his head shaved, according to his Twitter account. Presumably Don will join in on the fun as well?
  24. ^ Unless you desire to ride at night, when October lines are quite long.
