^ Considering that he works at the counter that will presumably be selling those videos very soon, I would hope that he knows many somethings that we don't.

^^ I'm sure FUN simply contracted with a vendor who figured out the technical details and provided ready-to-go equipment. 1.5mbps is sufficient for 720p (or 1080i), which seems more than sufficient for this offering. With 14 cameras, 1:45 of video, and 1 minute average in the station, that's only 36mbps for the train. Well within the range of current 802.11 equipment on a single transmitter. Of course, one device doesn't have to send video for the entire train. Multiple devices on multiple channels could extend bandwidth considerably. I'd actually guess that each camera or pair of cameras transmits independently.

Personally, I'd love to camp out on KI's International Street with the Royal Fountains running.

I'm pretty sure that Walmart was just the first store that came to mind for camping supplies after midnight. They had extra space, so they were inviting some non-campers to camp out if they had (or could get) the gear. (To be clear, this wasn't publicized or announced.) The event was a lot of fun. The park was very generous with complimentary admission for non-passholders, and attendees enjoyed free meals and exclusive access to Frontier Town after 8:00pm. Walking through silent midways packed with tents was a sight to behold. I hope to attend next year (assuming they do it again) and actually camp out in the park.

Mantis at Cedar Point
malem replied to dragsterguy21's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Cedar Point certainly isn't going to use someone else's intellectual property without permission, especially as the name of a major attraction. If a ride is renamed "Kings James", or any variation of LeBron's brand, it would be with his full support. I enjoy Mantis as is, but I'd certainly be glad to see any changes that would make it enjoyable for a wider demographic. -
One aspiring videojournalist had his phone confiscated on Corkscrew's lift hill yesterday. When his train returned, everyone in the station was told not to be like that guy. I don't know whether security was called as well. I told another rider to put his camera away, after he pulled it out on Gemini's lift hill while seated directly in front of me. He did. After exiting the ride, he conspicuously took a picture of me walking down the midway. Perhaps he thought I worked there (seeing the event lanyard) and wanted to complain about my "customer service", which would be rather funny. I had no desire to take a camera to the face at 60mph.

Not much sleeping going on in the tents, I take it? Some campers were apparently no-shows; they invited a group of us non-campers to go buy a tent at Walmart and pitch it right then. We didn't take them up on it.

Cedar Point is surprisingly dead for a July Friday. 10min for TTD, 30min at Millennium Force, 1hr at Maverick, lots of station waits.

According to Kings Island via Twitter, the Wurlitzer band organ is back at the carousel and is operating! Very exciting news. Alas, I'm at another park today. https://twitter.com/KingsIslandPR/status/490184620923977728

I'm still not sure about this event. It looks like a decent hotel would be ~$100 after tax tomorrow night, which is hard to justify for ERT for one person. The weather looks perfect, though, and night marathons (that are open to the public) at CP don't happen very often.
-
My understanding is that "bring-a-friend" access to ERT is only valid on special discounted days (Mother's Day, Father's Day, and other dates as they are announced). For a definitive answer, you would want to contact the park. If the person you reach isn't sure about the answer, ask for them to check with someone who knows.

^ The $6 fee doesn't apply to parking or dining plan purchases this season, so you should be able to order either online without an extra fee. The all day dining plan is intended for one person; sharing isn't permitted (per the park). For less than the cost of one dining plan, you could both dine at the full-service Reds Hall of Fame Grille located near Diamondback. Many here consider this to be the best food value in the park.
-
That location is now the home of the Reds Hall of Fame Grille. It was extensively remodeled and upgraded to a full service restaurant in 2013.

That liquid ends up suspended in the air as small droplets, right? If so, it's an aerosol by definition.
-
Many guests (myself included) don't want to breathe or smell the aerosol from an e-cigarette in an enclosed space, such as a ride queue. Even though they're likely to produce much less pollution than burning a cigarette, their safety has yet to be established. Also, as others mentioned, their use outside smoking areas may encourage some to smoke a traditional cigarette in an inappropriate place.
-
Many food prices have gone down since Opening Day. Make sure to ask for a la carte pricing; most menu boards only show combo meals. Combo pricing (so far this season) hasn't been cheaper than buying the individual items on their own. You might find that purchasing a drink wristband, buying a souvenir cup, or requesting complimentary cups of water is a better deal than including a single drink in your meal purchase. For frequent visitors taking advantage of the all-season dining plan, lunch and dinner at the park aren't expensive at all.

My guess would be a maze filled with costumed characters, props, and special effects. Almost certainly featuring a Skeleton Key offering.

^ The reason I posted was that you linked the same article in 3 threads within 10 minutes. It's hard to discuss the same thing in three threads at once.

^ That article was discussed last week in this thread: http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php/topic/29490-new-haunt-attraction-near-the-beast-this-year There's no reason to discuss it now in three more topics.

^ Sandusky is at a slightly higher latitude than Mason, so you could be onto something...

Consider taking a nap; even a short one can significantly increase alertness. Just make sure to know safe place(s) to do so in advance. I can usually go at least 22 hours before I feel drowsy, so a day trip to Holiday World (even from Columbus) isn't a problem for me. I did have to stop and take a ~30 minute nap on the way back from CoasterMania. I left home at 03:30am Friday and ended up getting back at 03:30am Saturday.

Even MEIDs can be changed (albeit illegally) on many devices. Thieves may legitimately acquire a destroyed phone, clone its MEID onto a stolen phone, then sell it to a customer who won't care about missing/counterfeit labels. Even more are shipped to countries where carriers might not care about blocking/tracking stolen phones.

Reds Hall of Fame Grille may have most "bang for the buck". Portions are huge, and menu prices are about what you would find at a casual dining restaurant outside the park. Service with a large group can be rather slow, however. With 19 people, you might consider contacting group sales to see about pricing for a picnic meal or individual meal vouchers. Meal vouchers would let everyone in your group get a "counter service" meal (2 slices of pizza, burrito, chicken fingers, burger, etc) and one drink for a discounted price. Buying whole pizza(s) may or may not save you money. I believe it's around $25 after tax for a pizza (8 slices), but menu prices have changed several times this season. Call the park for current pricing - someone there should be able to check on it and get back with you.

^^ So, if you stayed until 9:00pm, you'd get home around the same time as you would staying at KI Haunt until 1:00am.

^^ There are off-the-shelf high definition security camera DVR products available. With IP cameras, installation can be as easy as setting up a home network. Writing your own software is certainly commendable, but consumers don't have to go that route. Granted, a Linux box with a 4TB hard drive and some Python scripts is going to be a lot cheaper than an off-the-shelf 4TB DVR, for those with the time and expertise to set up the former.
