  1. According to Universal, the park will have recycled "more than 800 tons of steel" by the time the project is completed. For some perspective: Raptor's trains weigh 9.5 tons each, and one of Banshee's 100 sections of track weighs 4 tons according to information Cedar Point & Kings Island posted online.
  2. I definitely had a great time; thanks for meeting up & for joining the group at a few mazes. We still need to figure out who it was that greeted us at Bored to Death. That first ride on Banshee reminded me a lot of Gatekeeper, with the train creeping through the elements. I prefer Banshee at full speed, of course, but it was interesting to get a different sort of ride. The helix tunnel lights on Beast were also interesting the first time around, but they got old quickly. Beast at night should be dark. I second you on cold temperatures somehow making Backlot and Vortex more comfortable. Multiple Vortex rides have been bothering me slightly since overdoing it on thrill rides in July/August, but I had no problems at all last night. No hint of a grayout on Backlot's helix either, which happens to me about half the time. (A few degrees warmer would have been much nicer though. According to a KIC member who's on Diamondback's crew via Twitter, AccuWeather's "Real-Feel" temperature was 39° last night when KI closed.)
  3. For what it's worth, there were no scareactors there in 2014 either - at least when I was there.
  4. When my hands are that dirty, I prefer soap and water.
  5. jcgoble3, MNFriedOreo and I went through - with jcgoble3 "leading" the way. We were oddly paired with a group of young teenagers, so the monsters completely ignored us adults in front. Not a fan of being paired with a stranger's children in this. I was grabbing (and being grabbed) by people the entire time - I didn't know who was with us, who was part of another (lost) group, or who was an actor. I like the concept, and overall I enjoyed the experience. With low capacity and personal space issues, I personally think it should be an upcharge with a fee charged per group.
  6. As of October 2, the price for 2016 platinum all-season dining has increased from $99+tax to $108+tax. As I found out when renewing my pass tonight; the guest services associate spent a few minutes trying to figure out why the total was higher than she expected. Not that I really can complain about price; I will have had ~35 meal redemptions at 4 parks by the end of the 2015 season.
  7. BGW is closing at 2pm today. EDIT: Dorney Park closed tonight as well.
  8. Carowinds is closed tonight as well. Not really a surprise with that rain projection map.
  9. Accidental touching can happen, though - on the part of the guest or the actor. Spaces in many of the mazes are tight. Those who react physically to being startled should take appropriate precautions (or avoid haunted attractions).
  10. Perhaps more than a remodel from the looks of that. I wonder whether the "new" Hulk coaster will be a B&M or will come from another manufacturer? Also whether they'll keep parts of the existing coaster (a la Phantom's Revenge) or build an entirely new ride?
  11. Are they (still) using only the lower platform of the tower to accommodate them?
  12. Only visits to Kings Island are included in that count. Mine shows 9 as well, which includes the renewing passholder preview night as a separate visit. My 2 visits to Carowinds, 2 visits to Kings Dominion and 4 visits to Cedar Point aren't included.
  13. At Cedar Point's Zombie High School yesterday, She was literally in tears upon existing the maze.
  14. The attendant at Cedar Point's marina gate looked at me like I had two heads when I handed him my platinum pass in the Kings Island app. So I quickly handed him my physical pass instead, which I had out just in case.
  15. Regarding park photographers, if you to to the Kaman's Art Shoppes website and type your voucher number in, the image seems to be stored indefinitely. I'm still getting e-mails trying to get me to purchase a photo from a year ago.
  16. Your free 2015 visit when buying a new 2016 pass is valid during Haunt. In previous seasons, parking for the "free" visit was not included. If you need a definite answer to the parking question in advance, I suggest calling the park. Enjoy your visits, assuming you buy a pass!
  17. You should have been there the day last summer that my micro SD card was ejected. And that I had a headache for an hour. On other 2014 visits, including CoasterMania and during HalloWeekends, I had enjoyable rides. Marathons, even, when lines elsewhere were too long for my taste.
  18. Mean Streak is a rather inconsistent coaster. You've been luckier than some with your day and perhaps train selections.
  19. There might be a (college & high school) student ID gate discount as well; it has been offered for Haunt in the past. Or look for paper coupons at retail outlets of KI partners (which have varied by season... Taco Bell, Great Clips, McDonald's, probably others). On short notice, online might be your best bet even with the $5.99 processing fee. Assuming your friend doesn't want to get in free with a new 2016 gold pass.
  20. I believe the Starlight gate price ($40ish) was offered in previous seasons on the equivalent day, but don't quote me on that. Or the two-day ticket would be offered, as always. Not many who frequent this forum buy full-fare admission tickets at the gate. Though it might be odd for an employee to take the obvious route, a quick call to the KI's main number would clear up the question. Hopefully.
  21. Which age would that be? I suspect that many parents of guests subject to such a restriction would not enjoy a long night of crowds, fog, monsters & roller coasters.
  22. Thanks again for sharing your extra ticket! Walking onto Beast at night & Flight of Fear was almost surreal. Just to add: the staff at RHOFG was on top of it today, bringing out our meals approximately 3 minutes from when we ordered them.
  23. Food service has been excellent. Just so there is no confusion, Kings Island is closed to the public today.
  24. No wait for anything at P&G Day.
  25. It's my understanding that passholders who have renewed can bring up to 4 friends every Sunday for the remainder of the season. (i.e. you can do it on more than one Sunday) Current passholders who have not renewed can also bring friends, albeit at a slightly less discounted price. You might want to call the park for confirmation that the $14.99 price is valid on multiple Sundays: 513-754-5700.
