Thunderbird has launched!
Dieseltech20 replied to APE's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Was at the park this past Sunday and wow things have changed there since July 2012. There are tons of track pieces laying around. Edit-The parks tagline states "The NATION'S First Launched Wing Coaster" not World's. -
Apparently my perception of large crowds was due to the weather forcing people inside. 4 days at the fair and I only ventured outside once, at closing time, because I foolishly walked out the wrong side of the South Wing. Such a shame because the few people I know that have visited KK this season have NOTHING but good things to say about the park.

No worse than claiming the same for Surf Dog.

Carnival Games (Video)

Even with winning on the first try, you have spent too much. -
I worked a booth on on both weekends, both days and can tell you the place was PACKED the whole time. The last day is normally dead, not so this year. Was told that the crowd on Sat night was insane. Because of the weather the riff raff was forced inside to steal. Thankfully Security was on top of things. That said, I will be shocked if the numbers are low.

I just want to ride some Coasters. I may be embarking on a journey soon that will severely limit my time to do so. Haven't been to HW in over two years now. Our one and only BAF visit was not a pleasant one and we will never do it again. Hope to visit KI at least once more this season as we are going on hiatus next year.

We went on dollar days last year. They were charging $1 a slice, yet a full pizza was still, $27. ? Of course the slices were a third the normal size. This year they are throwing BAF in the mix, no thanks. We will be taking a voyage instead.

Sounds like I need to revisit Thunder Run and get my Lightning Run rides in while I have a chance. Edit: Read the article more closely, the word "Tweak(s)" is definitely in the article.

Dayton Daily News: 10 Ways to Save Money at Kings Island

Ugh, don't remind me. Lightning Run was calling my name when I walked in this morning. Darn Bait and Switch. -
Most of the Sea World hate extends to everything they do. People get really upset about them having dolphins as well. I had to stop following a couple "celebs" on FB because they would not shut up. Their posts of course generate thousands of idiotic responses. People only focus on the negative and ignore all the positives.

Will be a shame if it changes drastically because the carnival has been nice the last few years. 300 people? LOL Sounds like I just might be able to get my rides after all. Of course, things in Louisville were greatly hampered yesterday by that "Purge" BS that was going around. Gotta love Kentucky's Ghetto.
-
While Kentucky Kingdom may indeed be in Kentucky, it is more important to note that it is Louisville, KY.

Not to mention those of us that know and will not be showing up at the window.
-
Well, there goes my chance to visit the park.

24 Stranded On Joker's Jinx at SFA

Does the ride use the same style of Trains as Flight of Fear? If so. You be stuck sideways for 4+ hours in this highly uncomfortable train.... -
The shorter hours are most likely due to the fact that the majority of their work force returns to school soon.

For the love of God, would someone add a freaking Spell Checker to the forum software.
-
Yikes. Will be making a trip to the area this afternoon that apparently will NOT include a stop at KI.
-
True. I will be at the State Fair on both weekends. Will look from afar and see how it looks crowd wise before deciding to enter. The only rides I have any real interest in riding are Thunder Run and Lightning Run. Not too worried about dollar drinks or food in the park really. There will be plenty of that available at the State Fair. The booth I help with is in close proximity to the Webb's Butcher Block booth, so I normally help deplete their stock while there.

You missed out. It was my favorite trip of the 2014 operating season thus far, which is saying a lot. Glad you had fun. Some friends were there and said they had fun even though the place was crowded. The older I get, the less I can take of crowds.
