  1. Looks like the state is no longer tight-lipped about the number of bids submitted. The governor said there was only one bid, and although he won't specify who it was, we know that Ed Hart and company submitted a bid, so it must be him. That means Ed Hart has no competition for KK. I'm no good at analyzing stuff like this, so is the lack of competition good or bad?
  2. If I could do anything with it? Put the Giant Top Spin back inside, restore everything to the way it was when TR:TR first opened, and make the necessary modifications to keep it that way, such as weatherproofing. (You did say "anything".) Failing that, keep it as Madame Fatale's Cavern of Terror.
  3. It was actually from SonofBaconador originally, then I reposted it. But I can answer it: http://www.flickr.com/photos/jcgoble3/6976876494/'> OK, so it's just a statue. It technically meets the criteria, doesn't it? Hard: First aid golf cart in action (from DBInternational) Easy: Fireworks (from KIfan73)
  4. Don told us on closing day that they have a special tool that can simply grip the exposed portion of the footing, twist it, and yank it right out.
  5. http://www.flickr.com/photos/jcgoble3/5836536916/'> And before anybody finds http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Kings_Island_WindSeeker_from_Eiffel_Tower.jpg'>this photo on Wikimedia Commons and claims that it isn't mine, the Commons copy was uploaded by me. It was for a time used unmodified on the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WindSeeker'>WindSeeker article on Wikipedia (which I was partially involved in getting listed as a Good Article), and today it serves as the base image for one of the breakdowns in the "Structure" section of that article (side note: the base of the other breakdown is my photo also). Yes, I edit Wikipedia occasionally. Hard: Coke Freestyle machine Easy: Any of the Planet Snoopy gang
  6. I don't want SonofBaconador's options to go to waste, so I'll answer both pairs of challenges: http://www.flickr.com/photos/jcgoble3/6490430453/'> http://www.flickr.com/photos/jcgoble3/6490116829/'> Both photos taken December 10, 2011 at the GOCC Holiday Party and Winter Tour. And now I'll reuse two of my previous challenges: Easy: Interior of Beast station Hard: White Water Canyon turntable in action EDIT: I got beat. Next person can pick which pair of challenges they want to answer.
  7. Just a reminder that we are only about five hours away from the two-day cut-off for the last challenge, quoted above. TOPGUN1993 may have managed to stump us.
  8. I believe that is also the platform used for unloading the train for Tombstone Terror-tory during Haunt.
  9. ^ Which I think is still plausibly consistent with the angle of the shadow. So I'd go with that. (Incidentally, while you're digging into your camera's settings, may I suggest setting the clock to the correct time? )
  10. 20:50 would translate to 8:50 pm, not 4:50 pm. The "-04:00" merely indicates the time zone as an offset from UTC (in this case Eastern Daylight Time); it doesn't mean to subtract four hours from the time given. Also consider whether you reset your camera for the end of DST last month; if not, that would contribute to its clock being set wrong, meaning it would have only been one hour off (about 7:50 pm). Sunset that day was 8:46 pm, and given the angle of the shadow on the top of the yellow portion of the tower cast by the checkered portion, it's reasonable to say that the sun was low in the sky, and the sun is hitting the tower from the west, which backs up that conclusion. So I would say that it was taken shortly before 8:00 pm. jcgoble3, playing forensic photograph examiner
  11. I could have answered that one with a video, but I decided to play by the rules. EDIT: You're supposed to give one easy and one hard. Both of those would qualify as "hard", methinks.
  12. 14. I can't get the article to load, but I feel compelled to respond to this anyway: If minors cannot be responsible for their own actions, then why do we have juvenile court systems? Why do schools suspend misbehaving students? If my 13-year-old self was not responsible for punching the assistant principal in 7th grade, I wouldn't have spent the next two years on probation. Give me a break.
  15. ^ That one gave me a genuine LOL!
  16. Star Wars Celebration VI was over and I was ready to begin hitting theme parks, starting with Wet 'n Wild on August 27... except Tropical Storm Isaac had other ideas. The waterpark closed one hour after it opened because they didn't get the required minimum of 50 people in that first hour. Bummer. To make things worse, I took the trolley directly to Subway for lunch, and by the time I got out of Subway, the rain had stopped and the sun was out, and it stayed that way the rest of the day. Would have been a perfect day for a waterpark, but no, Isaac had to screw it up.
  17. From opening day 2012: http://www.flickr.com/photos/jcgoble3/6976996510/'> I still don't know how I was able to hold my hands perfectly still for a full second to get that shot. Hard: Coke Freestyle machine Easy: Son of Beast from the Eiffel Tower (demolition optional)
  18. Neat! And believe me, there's nothing wrong with nerdiness. Heck, I flaunt my nerdiness to some extent. Don't be embarrassed about it; embrace it!
  19. According to a https://www.facebook.com/greatohiocc/posts/450846134978027'>report by the GOCC from the ACE Northern Ohio Holiday Party at Cedar Point, CoasterMania will return to the beginning of June next year. It will once again be a one-day event, this time on Friday, June 7. That's the weekend immediately after HoliWood Nights. Who's planning on going? 1. jcgoble3 (assuming I can find room for both HWN and CM in my budget, otherwise HWN likely gets priority)
  20. Completely clearing the cache and restarting Firefox worked for me as well. I still don't like the new quoting system, because the edit box no longer shows who you're quoting unless you switch to BBCode mode.
  21. I am so jealous of everyone who's posted in this thread. I want a Kings Island dream! It has been years and years since I've had a dream of any kind.

My alarm clock is also a working CD player, though it hasn't been used for that in a while. I also have a combination turntable and tape player buried in the living room, but I don't know if it still works.
  23. I'm not having a problem typing a response; it just looks funny. As for the light switch button, I've done that a few times, but I usually prefer the rich text editor for the proportional font (instead of the monospace font used in the BBCode editor) unless I'm doing something with complex formatting (e.g. editing my signature) or trying to work with a post full of images.
  24. Something's funky when I try to quote someone: The bottom line is my reply, while the first two are two nested quotes. It seems like it's trying to display the final quote boxes in the editing box, but failing to actually show anything but the text. Bypassing my Firefox cache did nothing. Technical fixes I believe require Dane, who is most likely the one who installed the update.
