"Man charged with raping 13-year-old at Kings Island"
jcgoble3 replied to SonofBaconator's topic in Kings Island
It was Halloween Haunt "entertainment" for two years (I think 2011 and 2012, but I might be off by one year). They had a WWE-style ring set up in the center of the Festhaus with four "shows" every night by the Half Pint Brawlers group. I made a point of staying away; when my group chose to watch one of the shows, I chose to leave them and go off on my own for half an hour and meet back up with them afterward. -
I'm not sure why you can't see the pictures. That's really strange...

Pretty much what others have said. As a single rider, nobody really cares, there's far more of you than you think, and you have the complete freedom to do what you want when you want without having to negotiate it with the rest of your group. If I have one regret from the past few seasons at Kings Island, it's that on almost every visit I've made, I've spent almost the entire day with other KIC members, or with my mom (we go together once every couple of years, and she doesn't ride much). I miss the first couple of years I regularly went to KI (2010 and 2011), back when I mostly went alone and had that freedom to dictate the day myself. This season, I intend to make at least one visit where I purposely don't meet up with anyone and spend the entire day as a single rider. I want to feel that freedom again.

Five years ago, as a league bowler with my own balls and shoes, I carried a 190 average. Saturday, with a house ball, rental shoes, and several years of rust, I couldn't break 100 and managed only one strike. I knew I wouldn't hit 190, but I didn't expect THAT level of suckitude.

Yes, Fast Lane is available on opening day. Yes, Fast Lane could be used on Banshee on its opening day. Yes, Fast Lane was ABused on Banshee on its opening day by some people who got half a dozen or more shirts out of it, then turned around and sold the extras on eBay for $50 apiece, making back the money they spent on the Fast Lane pass and then some at the expense of people who waited in the multi-hour line only to just barely miss out on a shirt because of these ***holes. I really hope the same does not happen with Mystic Timbers on opening day this year.

I like the feature of text smileys automatically converting into the graphical emoticon as you type a post, but I've noticed that this comes with a bug. Steps to reproduce: 1. Type a few words into a new post in a thread. 2. Type a space, followed by a text smiley, but do not hit the space bar afterward. Make sure that there is nothing at all after the text smiley (it has to be at the end of the post for the bug to manifest, AFAICT). 3. Reposition the cursor to earlier in the post. 4. Begin typing. The first time you type a space, the cursor will unexpectedly jump to the text smiley, convert it to a graphic, and then insert the space after the smiley. Further typing will insert at the new cursor position rather than where you had it before the space. If it makes a difference, I'm using the IPB Default skin on Firefox 50.1.0 on Windows 10.

Oh, I won't be skipping T3, because I don't have that credit yet. But it sounds like it might be a one-and-done coaster. Actually, I need the Storm Chaser credit as well, so there's two reasons to hit KK on the way home.

Holy video, Batman! Seriously, that video is nearly three full screens in height on my 1080p display.

I finally renewed my expired GOCC membership last week, but I'm debating if I want to do this. I also want to do HoliWood Nights, which I haven't done since 2013, and I don't think I can afford both. Decisions, decisions...

I can't stop laughing.......

In the new software version, how do I view the previous names of a user who has been renamed?

^ I've never noticed that you can see those rides from there! I come through that way every time I drive to Kings Island, and the furthest north I've ever seen them from is just after getting on I-71 from State Route 48. I'll have to pay closer attention next time I drive that way.

Is it possible to get the size of embedded YouTube video players reduced to back where it was before? The "what song are you listening to?" thread has become incredibly annoying to scroll through with these gigantic video players.
-
This is not a new problem. It was exactly the same on the previous version, and yes, it's confused me in the past as well.

When it snows. A friend of mine is headed back to his native Hawaii today for a few months. I told him to box up some of their weather when he gets there and ship it back to Ohio.

Are Water Rides Dying Out?
jcgoble3 replied to SonofBaconator's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Eh... what? The removal of Shoot the Rapids means nothing at all to the future of water rides in general. Shoot the Rapids was a flawed ride that was late to open due to silly design issues (such as the boats being too big for the track), and later almost killed several riders when a boat fell off of a lift hill and landed upside down in the water. It was removed because of those unique issues, not because of anything about water rides in general. -
Hmm. Seems to be a problem with the dark skin (named "KICentral (Default)"), where the only indicator that a forum has new posts is that the thread title in the right-hand column is bolded (you can see this thread's title bolded in your screenshots if you look closely). On the light skin (confusingly named "Default"), forums with new posts are far, far more obvious. Are you sure you're clicking on the right spot? I've tried to reproduce this in both skins, and I've been unable to do so.
-
Unread threads have two distinguishing features in the thread list: they have bold text for the title, and a blue (light theme) or white (dark theme) circle or star next to them. Clicking that blue or white circle or star will take you directly to the first unread post. A star means that you have previously posted in that thread, otherwise it's a circle. If you have previously posted in a thread but there are no new posts in that thread, then you will see a light gray star, which does nothing when clicked on. (Note that I'm referring to the desktop version here. I don't know what one might see on mobile.)

It was just an example, the only one I had handy at the time (and note that I recommended a solution that wouldn't impact him at all). Your interests section is another such example, with two and a half full screens of whitespace at 1080p resolution.
-
Can I request that something be done with the "interests" on the user card on each post on the forums? The inclusion of that is causing massive amounts of whitespace between posts for certain users. As an example, silver2005 is one such user with a lengthy interests section, and the problem can be clearly seen on this page of the NFL thread. My preference would be to simply not show that field on the threads, so that users like silver2005 can leave it as it is, but if not that, then it needs to have a character limit enforced to prevent these massive amounts of whitespace.

(Double post because previous post was liked) Also, why am I unable to enable notifications for when my posts are liked? It says that the administrator has disabled that option. That's pretty much the only thing I used notifications for. (On a side note, I find it rather interesting that the current contents of my notifications list consist of what appears to be the notifications I received during the previous failed attempt at this upgrade a year and a half ago. )
-
^^ I'm getting a similar request in Firefox. What type of notifications does the new version want to send me, and how do those work? Also, everything is loading quickly for me. No slow loading issues here.
