  1. Typically sometime around Labor Day, give or take a week or so. I don't remember. In past years, it has been included with Fright Lane and not available separately. We don't know yet, although most shows at Kings Island run for two years. The Grand Carousel and "other select rides" will be open. AFAIK, we don't yet know what rides those will be. Given that Tombstone used the exit path for White Water Canyon, that the WWC entrance and exit were rerouted this year, and that WWC has been closed for the season already to accommodate Mystic Timbers construction, it's nearly certain that Tombstone will either not be coming back or at least will be moved somewhere else. My bet is that it will be removed, as it was not a very good maze to begin with, and its main attraction of riding the train to the starting point was eliminated last year IIRC. That's a very good question. My best guess would be to stop in either Guest Services next to the front gate or the Human Resources office near the handicap parking area and ask if they can help route them to the correct person(s). Some of us are extreme night owls. Others, extreme morning persons. To each their own!
  2. Here, the countdown and drop is fully automated. The lifeguard just holds down the dispatch button, and the computer plays a countdown from three and automatically drops exactly on zero. I don't believe there is any way for the lifeguard to drop the floor early.
  3. Just speculating there, but I think he's telling the truth, and that some other company is involved in putting together whatever we're going to experience inside that shed. Mr. House was probably just told, "Design it to have a straight and reasonably flat track in this spot, with block brakes right before it." Whatever is in that shed, I don't think GCI is responsible for it.
  4. Given that it's not a bustling area, I wonder what other indoor entertainment options there are in the area. I assume that there is likely the basic stuff, such as bowling alleys and movie theaters, somewhere reasonably close by. But is there anything in the area similar to what is proposed here? If not, it would give local area residents another, unique option for family entertainment and thus could end up being a good move that draws a significant amount of revenue, especially during the winter. Not will, but could. jcgoble3, pondering and probably missing something...
  5. I think you're over-thinking this...Yeah. The passes being sold now are for 2017, which would, I assume, cover 2017's Winterfest....
  6. Typically the first price increase is right after closing day.
  7. I'm pretty sure that Kings Island now does security checks every day. I'm currently parked outside the parking lot gates, waiting on the tolls to open.
  8. they are probably just putting them there until the of season starts to advertise it. They can't park them at the KI Theater right now because Origins is still running.
  9. Last year at Haunt, the bag checks/metal detectors were at the outer edge of the entry plaza, and one had to pass through them to reach the restroom. That's fine since guests are not held outside the security checks until opening. As long as any temporary fencing erected directly in front of the gate enables restroom access, it should be fine. (In past years, in order to allow room for the Wall of Monsters to approach when the gates opened, they have put up temporary fencing prior to opening on Friday nights to keep the waiting guests back a bit from the gate, which may be what you're thinking of. This fencing has generally permitted restroom access up until about five minutes before opening when they have to close the overhead doors to prepare the Wall of Monsters.)
  10. If true, then that is new for 2016, as I have used cash at the locker kiosks in previous seasons.
  11. BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA—*deep breath*—HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!! Seriously, that was perfect.
  12. The law in Ohio is that parks are required to follow the guidelines of the ride manufacturer. My understanding is that without approval from PTC the park is not allowed to turn the trains around. The other option is to get new trains that the park can get approval to run backwards. According to the park, this is not true. Don has stated that the park chose to turn the backward side back to forward for "nostalgia". He even removed my comment on the park's Facebook page once when I told someone what you claim here (and what I, at the time, believed).
  13. Related question on the timed lockers: What happens if you pay cash for the locker, your locker expires, and you can't extend it because all of your cash is inside the locker? (Assume you decided to make a tour of the water rides and didn't want your wallet getting wet, but it took longer than you thought it would.) In this situation, is it possible for an attendant or supervisor to open the locker so you can get the cash out to pay off the overtime rental, or are you doomed to not having access to any of your stuff until park closing?
  14. Can we please just all be nice to each other? Either that, or get some active moderation on these boards. If anything kills these boards, it will be the lack of effective moderating.
  15. ^ I think that's an autocorrect error. Probably meant "pre-existing conditions".
  16. Technically, it is a violation of park rules to slap hands with riders on the other train. Technically.
  17. ^ Actually, it's not illuminated at all.
  18. All the more reason to do it. Summer's last hurrah! Seriously, the first day of school is generally not big on studying and schoolwork. Or at least it wasn't when I was in school. It's usually mostly administrative stuff like paperwork, going over rules, issuing textbooks, and so forth. So I would say that it's no big deal if the kids are short on sleep the night before. IMHO, any teacher that does expect kids to focus well enough to do heavy work on the first day is a monster.
  19. I'm 29 and have never drunk a drop of alcohol in my life. I simply don't understand the attraction of ingesting a mind-altering substance for any reason. I prefer to be in full control of my mental faculties at all times.
  20. I feel like the only person who normally calls coasters by their full names.
  21. If they want to track my feet, all they need is a good nose.
  22. I did notice that they did not show Bert riding Diamondback., just some B-roll footage of it. I was an extra in the Holiday World portion of the episode, and I spotted myself in the background a few times in the Thunderbird segment. I also think I identified a B-roll shot on Mammoth in which I was wearing a GoPro camera on my chest, but I need to watch it again to be sure. EDIT: Yep, that's my shot, where the boat comes into the splashdown area, just before they cut to Bert in the observation area. You can see my pasty white knee at the bottom left of the frame.
  23. Your argument here utterly fails when confronted with Mystic Timbers.
  24. Keep in mind that the comment about details still being finalized doesn't necessarily mean anything major. It could mean something as simple as the logo still being tweaked or the teaser video still being worked on. So that comment doesn't automatically rule out another big, major attraction on the scale of Mystic Timbers (or bigger). The following is wild speculation with no evidence to support it: B&M wing coaster in Action Zone flying over the entry plaza (outside the main gate), with Timberwolf being removed to make room for it. Hey, if Gatekeeper can start construction in September, then it's possible.
