  1. For its first several years, it didn't even have seat belts. It doesn't need seat belts because the lap bar has two redundant locking mechanisms. The seat belts were added later, presumably in response to an unrelated incident at another park. And if the lap bar were to fail completely, someone here on KIC alleged a while back that a sack of potatoes would come back to the station still in its seat without a lap bar. Some believe that. Some do not. But it's something to think about.
  2. I suggest you ask Terpy about his incident at (I believe) Carowinds a few years ago.
  3. Several years ago, I could ride just about anything over and over again and frequently speed-walked from one ride to the next, often criss-crossing the park repeatedly (hi, malem). Last year, I could only ride something once or twice before needing a break, and I can no longer rush from one ride to another like I used to. I have to take my time walking between rides, and avoid too much criss-crossing of the entire park. And unlike before, there are certain rides that my body simply no longer tolerates at all (e.g. Vortex and Invertigo). The scary part is that this is already happening to me, and I am only 29 years old.
  4. I did it on Opening Day(Im also 6'4") and the pictures turned out great, as long as your body is not tip toed on something, your phone is secure in your hand, you are good. I wouldn't consider what you are considering to consider to do trespassing. Selfies stick lol Sent from my XT1526 using Tapatalk Finally! A legitimate, non-stupid use for a selfie stick!
  5. According to https://www.visitkingsisland.com/plan-a-visit/rider-height-requirements, riders over 60 inches tall must be accompanied by a child. However, that page still doesn't list Woodstock Gliders or Snoopy's Space Buggies, and still lists Snoopy's Spash [sic] Dance, so take it with a grain of salt. I'm not aware of any maximum weight for it.
  6. I just saw my first TV commercial for Ark Encounter on ESPN during the second round of the NBA Draft. They are advertising "special extended hours passes" for their first 40 days and 40 nights.
  7. We do. I declared that commandment last week. See: http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php/topic/32105-the-beast-needs-to-be-updated/?p=733378
  8. With regard to the unidentifiable music, has anyone here considered that perhaps some of the music was composed specifically for this show and thus can't be found by song recognition apps? That would be really cool if they created new music just for our show.
  9. Where was this posted? I just looked at the GOCC Facebook page and their discussion group and didn't see anything about it.
  10. I would assume that there were, as there are now, multiple blocks on the final brake run to allow stacking, so that a delay in the station does not result in a train setting up on the second lift.
  11. Really don't know. Not sure what the historical trend has been. I know a few tech/games companies that used to file for marks months in advance, but recently have been waiting until weeks (sometimes a few days) before the announcement to file. Also, don't forget that Holiday World filed the Thunderbird trademark initially under the name of a seemingly unrelated company, "Croatan LLC", specifically because they knew enthusiasts would be searching for it. http://www.holidayworld.com/holiblog/2014/09/06/secret-kept/
  12. The brake shed is no longer able to completely stop a train. So the only places a train can be held are both lift and the station. Remember The Beast was designed to run with 4 trains. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Does it still run four trains or is it three trains now It runs three now.
  13. I just read your comment again, and realized that I slightly misunderstood it. You said, "not once have I seen guests not be allowed to go around another time, with or without a line." The double negative ("not once... not be allowed") confused me. So in essence, you're saying that you've NEVER seen them telling people they have to exit? That's not at all what I remember. Since the Soak City conversion, all of my experience is that if there is even a hint of a line (even if that "line" is just a large number of people walking in and grabbing tubes at around the same time), you MUST exit and yield your tube to those who are entering. I even recall discussion here on KIC back in 2012 where people were complaining about not being allowed to go around again. Maybe one of us just needs some sleep?
  14. Uh... what the...? Clearly I'm missing something here. Lambert's Cafe - Home of Throwed Rolls http://www.throwedrolls.com My mom's been dying to take us there someday. Somehow I'm reminded of the time when a baseball mascot threw a hot dog into the stands and hit someone in the eye, causing a detached retina and a lawsuit that took several years and two trials to resolve.
  15. Wait, what? Is that new this year or something? Since the arrival of Soak City, not once have I seen guests not be allowed to go around another time, with or without a line. And I have seen a line, but again, not once did a lifegaurd stop anyone from going around again. I haven't been to the park this year at all. I'm speaking from past personal experience in prior years. Early in the day, with no line, I have sometimes been allowed to go around again, sometimes told to exit.
  16. Part of the original intent behind the 2nd Amendment was that the people should be guaranteed the means to overthrow their government in the event that government becomes a tyranny. That is exactly why the Revolutionary War was fought, and the architects of the Bill of Rights wanted to ensure that the American people would always have the means to do it again should it be necessary. So yes, the 2nd Amendment can and should be interpreted to allow for things like automatic weapons, assault rifles, and large magazines. Should it become necessary to overthrow our government (and I would argue that, although we're still quite some time away from that point, we're very slowly moving toward eventually needing to do that), the people of the United States would not be able to do so effectively unless they can match the firepower of arguably the most powerful military in the world. Otherwise any attempt to take down a tyrannical government would just result in a one-sided slaughter by said tyrannical government.
  17. Uh... what the...? Clearly I'm missing something here.
  18. That position and orientation makes more sense to me than any other possibility that's been posted. You get an A for detective work.
  19. The lazy river at KI is one and done if there is a line to enter, as staying on for a second lap would essentially be line-jumping those waiting in line. If there is no line, they might allow you to stay on, but no guarantees. Do note that the line for the lazy river moves very quickly; a line out of the pool, backtracking down the fence and around the corner a short distance is only about 3 to 5 minutes. I strongly recommend hitting Soak City the moment it opens (10:30 if you enter through the parking lot, 11:00 if you enter from inside Kings Island), as that will be the least crowded time of day, By mid-afternoon, you can end up with 15- to 30-minute waits on all of the slides, leaving you with enough time to completely air dry between rides. So hit Soak City at 11:00, knock everything out by 1:00, and then head back to the dry park as the masses are moving toward the waterpark, leaving shorter lines for the coasters and other rides. I wouldn't say "minimal". It has a few things that KI's Soak City doesn't, such as an action river with waves and a set of enclosed pitch-black slides. With a Platinum Pass, it's worth an afternoon. As a bonus, CP's Soak City, unlike KI's, is NOT included with basic CP admission tickets or regular CP season passes. The only way to get in is with a waterpark admission ticket, a "Ride and Slide" ticket (which are usually multi-day tickets), or a Platinum Pass. So I would think that crowds shouldn't be too heavy in the middle of the afternoon, though take that with a grain of salt, since the only time I've been in CP's Soak City was in 2011 on a cloudy day with a temperature hovering around 70°F.
  20. AFAIK, I don't think they really do much in the way of discount tickets. Your best bet, if you have an active membership in a coaster club accepted for HoliWood Nights, is to show your unexpired membership card at the ticket window to purchase a very cheap ticket ($34). Details on that are here, on the right side under "Partner Club Discounts". Failing that, I'm not aware of any other discounted tickets available, as they tend to maintain pricing integrity (hi, Terpy). As for additional days, they don't offer multi-day tickets up front. However, once inside the park on a one-day ticket, you can go to Guest Relations to purchase a Next Day ticket for $30.
  21. Chick-fil-A responds to the Orlando massacre in surprising way: http://www.whio.com/news/news/national/orlando-chick-fil-a-store-supports-blood-donors-wi/nrfyn/
  22. Seeing as how the 11th Commandment has already been assigned to Adventure Express, I hereby declare the 12th Commandment: "Thou shalt not mess with The Beast."
  23. LOL! For those who are confused, reference: https://twitter.com/KingsIslandPR/status/742482648224927744 Look at the reply thread starting with "I'm sure it'll make enthusiasts bark with delight".
