They are $12 now. (The first weekend they were being sold for $10) Anything to get that extra 40 nickels from everyone! Fixed that for you.

(referring to emphasized portion) ...what? How does this make sense? Why in the world would the three LaRosa's locations not be allowed to share their resources?

Let's see your Amusement Park photos
jcgoble3 replied to Oldschool75's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
These are great photos, but please post just one photo per post. This is the convention over in the random photo thread for good reason: massive numbers of photos on one page create pages that are very slow to load, consume huge amounts of data for mobile users (e.g. Terpy), and in some cases can cause a browser to crash from the stress of trying to load that much. -
That just tells you the profit margins are huge, if I'm not mistaken Starbucks coffee is the same price outside of the park. As of last year, at least, the prices at Starbucks inside KI were indeed higher than outside the park, albeit not by much.

It would also be much more obvious to everyone, defeating the purpose of such a horrible act. To the untrained eye, an ordinary backpack looks much more innocent. Need I point out that the Boston Marathon bombers a few years ago used backpacks to hide the bombs? Those were unfortunately quite effective.
-
...and thereby cause the area to be evacuated and the police and bomb squad called. Sadly, that is a likely result of leaving a bag unattended like that in today's world.

My locker is also known as the trunk of my car. I don't bring in anything that does not fit in my zippered pockets, unless I am not intending to ride rides at that time. For example, if I were to bring my camera bag with me to the park, it would stay in my trunk until I'm ready to completely switch from strictly riding mode to strictly photography mode. LIkewise, if I'm going to the waterpark, my swim stuff stays in my trunk when I'm not actually in, or on my way to/from, the waterpark. Speaking of which, arrive early and park as close to the Soak City gate as you can. Not only do you gain the benefit of shorter lines early in the day (the masses don't migrate to the waterpark until early to mid-afternoon), but you can use your car as a free giant locker rather than paying $15 for a small locker that's less secure (due to the risk of someone spying on you as you enter your passcode). All you really need to bring into the waterpark is your swimsuit and a spare car key; leave everything else in the car. You can go back out for your money/credit card later when it's meal time. Men can take the spare key and thread it onto the drawstring of your trunks before tying it; women will have a tougher time, but might be able to find a place on their swimsuit to thread it on (or give it to a male friend, if you have one with you and trust him with it). If your key is one of those that has the lock/unlock/trunk/etc. buttons built directly into it, rather than on a separate fob, buy a cheap "beach safe" plastic waterproof container ($5 to $8, depending on where you get it; I get mine at Dick's Sporting Goods, but they are also available at the gift shops in Soak City) and stick it in there. That can then go into the side pocket of a man's swim trunks, attached to the loop inside the pocket with a small carabiner. Women, though, may have to hold it in their hand on a slide, but should be able to wear it around their neck the rest of the time.

Yes, barring temporary maintenance- or weather-related closures, the regular rides will operate until park closing. Note that some rides, including all of Planet Snoopy, do not operate during Haunt hours, and White Water Canyon is completely closed for the season to accommodate Mystic Timbers construction.
-
Interesting! So if we want to see Sam at the meetup (usually one of my favorite parts of a night at Haunt), we have to buy Skeleton Key. Hmm...
-
I think Mystic Timbers is going to be like Maverick. By that, I mean that it didn't wow a lot of people right away and doesn't have the flashy numbers or records that high-thrill coasters often have. But I think it's going to pack a hell of a punch and will surprise many, many people with its intensity. I truly think this coaster will appeal more to enthusiasts and thrill-seekers than to families. In other words, this ain't no family coaster, ya got that?

COSI's Adventure to Close 2017
jcgoble3 replied to bkroz's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
This. The only time I "did" Adventure was as a kid of about 8 or 9 years, and my parents basically took the lead, did the tasks themselves, and cheated by watching others get the codes once they decided we had been in there long enough (which was a VERY short period of time). I did jack diddly squat in there myself. A KIC meetup definitely needs to happen here before the end of the year. -
^ If I had a dollar for every time I was asked that question in a waterpark...

I wear a waterproof watch all the time in waterparks, including Soak City. I have never once had a lifeguard say anything about it. The concern with snaps and buttons is that they could drag along the slide and damage it, but if you're riding in the proper position, that shouldn't be a concern with the watch. On slides that require you to put your hands behind your head, you typically have to point your elbows forward to keep them off the sides of the slide anyway, which brings the watch forward and well out of harm's way.

And "Harambe" has now been taken off the list of banned words by the retailer: http://www.espn.com/espn/story/_/id/17552385/online-retailer-fanatics-takes-harambe-banned-list-customized-jerseys -
The TOS prohibits one-word posts, but I don't think they say anything about one-emoticon posts.

It's true: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2663653-nfl-shop-bans-fans-from-ordering-customized-harambe-jerseys Also, in a possibly related move, the custom jersey ordering appears to have been taken down completely now. Clicking on the banner halfway down the home page at http://www.nflshop.com/ just reloads the page with this error message inserted: "Oops. We couldn't find the page you requested and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause." -

^ I interpreted Existential's comment in that regard as exaggeration. I do hope he wasn't being literal about that.

Now all we need is for someone to set up a script to grab the still image every minute and compile that into a series of time-lapse videos. Any takers?
