  1. I only got a one-hour tease of Wet 'n Wild I got courtesy of Tropical Storm Isaac and management's inability to read a basic weather forecast, which left me with a permanent craving for more of the park that I never was and never will be able to fulfill. Compared to that, I'd prefer to have never made it there in the first place.
  2. Also, unless it was changed this past year, the Fanta orange drink that comes from the regular fountains is inexplicably not carbonated. Only the Fanta from the Freestyle machines is carbonated.
  3. ^ That sounds very interesting. Where do I sign up? The Mario Kart-style racers also sound awesome.
  4. Who in their right mind wants to swim in December anyway? ...oh wait.
  5. Some toll roads are now using toll-by-plate, where cameras at the toll plaza capture the license plate. Typically, one can set up an account online, register a license plate number to the account, and deposit money to be used to pay tolls; if no such account exists for the license plate, or one does but it has an insufficient balance, then a bill is sent to the registered owner of the vehicle. I'd imagine that CW is using similar technology here for capturing the license plate.
  6. SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY! ...er, what I mean is that this solution, if implemented, is a vastly superior option to the current souvenir bottle, and something that I would certainly consider spending money on if priced appropriately. Or something like that.
  7. I would assume that you just present the pass as you normally would. From reading it, it seems that registering the license plate is just an optional thing to speed up entry if you usually arrive in the same car every time.
  8. I'd go with "or not". Matt Ouimet's Cedar Fair is not Viacom, which is a good thing.
  9. I believe they're talking about the bridge that WWC goes under. I think they're talking about the bridge over the Diamondback valley. It's the only steel and wood trestle bridge along the route that I know of. The WWC one is concrete. But via location, the park made it sound as if it was right after that, which it isn't. It's a little more down the rail. I think it depends on your personal definition of "right after".
  10. The video is out! I haven't watched it, but here is the blog post with the announcements: http://www.holidayworld.com/holiblog/2016/11/30/mannequin-video-reveals-2017-plans/ They are restoring an old Calypso ride that originally resided at LeSourdsville Lake and naming it Firecracker. Additionally, three children's attractions, including the Star-Spangled Carousel, will be made wheelchair-accessible. They will also be adding new shade structures over several queues, doing the usual track work on Raven and Voyage, and making other miscellaneous improvements.
  11. According to a statement from Dollywood on the park's website, park employees are currently focused on assisting those affected by the wildfires and providing food and housing for firefighters and other first responders, and this will remain the focus for the next couple of days. As such, Dollywood will remain closed through Thursday and will reopen on Friday at 2 PM.
  12. You suffer from VES (Vortex Enjoyment Syndrome). There is no known cure for VES, but for some, it can be treated with Tylenol.
  13. I never realized until now how different I look when I'm clean-shaven and have had a recent haircut, compared to a few weeks' facial hair and a few months' head hair growth. Great report! (Also, a note for anyone else considering a COSI trip after reading this: the train exhibit was a traveling exhibit that was only there for one weekend. It is now gone.)
  14. "Look man, I gotta make a profit here. Best I can offer is about tree fiddy."
  15. (emphasis added) You should not have to "know how to ride" a ride in order for the ride to be enjoyable. A good ride is enjoyable no matter what. If you have to learn special riding techniques in order to enjoy a ride, then that is indicative of a fundamental problem with the ride.
  16. From reading between the lines in the linked press release, it sounds like they have been doing this for a while, but are just now formally announcing it.
  17. http://www.prweb.com/releases/2016/11/prweb13849482.htm Just another reason to avoid public Wi-Fi altogether. I'd rather pay for extra data through Verizon than put up with this crap. While Adblock Plus does exist for Android, it's annoying to install because Google won't allow it on the Play Store. Also, unless your device is rooted, it requires manual proxy configuration separately on every Wi-Fi network you connect to and doesn't work at all on data. So I choose to sigh and not bother with it.
  18. FWIW, when I rode all three drop slides on Winterfest announcement day, I rode bare-backed, and it didn't feel rough at all. And standing in close quarters with those same people for as much as a half hour or more while waiting in line doesn't?
  19. According to Coaster Nation on Facebook, RMC said at IAAPA that "there's no RMC projects opening in 2017".
  20. Is that... is that... a FULL CAR PHOTO? I've never even considered purchasing an on-ride photo at Cedar Point because they were money-grabbing by taking a separate photo for every ROW on most of the coasters (excluding TTD), rather than a single photo per car like KI does. However, I haven't been to Cedar Point since 2014, so if they've changed things since then, that's good.
  21. Possibly dumb question: why are they called "bents"? It seems like an odd name for something made up out of typically straight pieces (unless I'm totally missing something). I admit I haven't been following the construction as closely as most people on here, so maybe I have missed something.
  22. I love it when URLs preserve headline errors forever. In this case, "Ceda Point".
  23. Wet 'n Wild Orlando is still open and will remain open through December 31, per their website: http://www.wetnwildorlando.com/
