  1. I personally found ShieKra boring. Given that, I'm not really excited for Valravn. EDIT: On the other hand, this seems exciting, if a bit expensive: https://www.cedarpoint.com/plan-a-visit/sunrise-thrills-vip-tour EDIT 2: I gave the tour its own thread: http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php/topic/31996-cedar-point-sunrise-thrills-tour/
  2. A number like X-Y means car number X, counting from the front of the train, and row number Y within that car. So 5-1 means front row of the fifth car, while 4-2 means second row of the fourth car. 1-1 is the front row of the entire train. On Banshee, since there is only one row per car and four seats per row, the Y is sometimes used to identify an individual seat, counting from the loading gate (left) side. So 8-1, in that usage, would be back row, far left side, while 8-4 (my favorite seat) would be back row, far right side. However, it's more common to just say "row 8, far right side" than it is to say "8-4". Does that make sense?
  3. ...which is quite the change of tune from the park that last year (?) claimed rides were inspected weekly.
  4. When a new thread is posted, perhaps, although I've seen multiple such cases of one-time posters whose last active times are like that, so I don't really know how the software works there. (EDIT: See malem's post.) However, when a reply is added to an existing thread, it's definitely possible, as shown by this screenshot:
  5. Ah. However, the "last active" time is, to my understanding, the last page loaded. Thus, it is possible to post something after your last active time, if you do not load any further pages after posting.
  6. Huh? Daylight saving time began on March 10 in 2013. So there is no difference in UTC offset between then and now.
  7. You can apparently ask...but our original poster never posted again... Nor did he even log in again. Last active (i.e. last page loaded) four minutes before this thread was posted.
  8. So let's revisit my list as well: Hmm. Changes are as follows: Invertigo: Park bench Drop Tower: Facing the Eiffel Tower Banshee: Row 8, preferably far right side Monster: I don't care as long as the car spins. I've spent each of the last several rides I've had on Monster staring at the arm without spinning. Vortex: Park bench, because even when I am in the mood for it, I still don't want to put up with the automatic headache Surf Dog: Back row, on the same side as the direction it rotates Everything else is still the same.
  9. They did for a while, at least according to my mother, though I don't know when they started or stopped that. As of five or so years ago, they were using token machines that gave out four tokens per dollar. A few years ago (two? three?), they changed the token machines to a sliding scale based on the denomination inserted. As of the last time I was in one of the arcades last year, they gave two tokens for a $1 bill and more for larger bills, up to I think 60 or 80 tokens for a $20 bill. A new reloadable game card system was introduced for the outdoor games this year, and the arcade games might be using those cards as well now (I haven't been to the park to see for myself and don't remember what might have been said here about it).
  10. Also allegedly shoves a ride operator in the process. She is now banned from Carowinds for five years: http://www.charlotteobserver.com/news/local/article75276817.html
  11. Indeed. The requirements for the ACE Coaster Classic award are listed here: http://www.aceonline.org/CoasterAwards/?type=1 Among them, it is required that riders must be able to slide from side to side. Woodstock Express's seat belts are individual belts anchored in the middle of the seat, which prevents side-to-side sliding. For local ACE Coaster Classics, try Teddy Bear at Stricker's Grove, or Sea Dragon at the Columbus Zoo. The ACE Coaster Landmark honorees are listed here: http://www.aceonline.org/CoasterAwards/?type=3 Notably, both The Beast and The Racer have this honor, making Kings Island one of only two parks in the world to have multiple ACE Coaster Landmark awards (the other is Kennywood, which has three: Jack Rabbit, Racer, and Thunderbolt). The Beast's plaque is just inside the queue entrance on the left, before you reach the queue houses. I don't remember where The Racer's plaque is.
  12. ^ But that's what makes it more fun! Also, IIRC the coaster at Kings Island now known as Woodstock Express did not originally have seat belts. They were added later, and were (I assume) what caused it to lose its ACE Coaster Classic recognition.
  13. Right now? I'd say there's enough time for anything to go in and be open by next April.
  14. The Tropical Smoothie stand was open?! Wow. I have literally never seen that stand open. Thanks for taking the time to share your day with us!
  15. I was literally just about to post a popcorn meme. Seriously people, this isn't worth arguing over. Let's get back to the topic. Anyone from here at the park with pictures to share?
  16. As has been mentioned multiple times in this thread, just because there were five years between Diamondback and Banshee does not mean there will be five years between Banshee and the next coaster. There is not a fixed schedule saying that "we do these five things in order every five years". It just doesn't work that way. Put another way, past performance is not a predictor of future results. So it's very possible that this is a coaster. Also, there don't have to be footings in the ground already for this to be a coaster. Look at Gatekeeper at Cedar Point. Part of the area it occupies now was still occupied by two operating rides until late the previous summer. Again, just because we're not seeing footings already has no bearing on whether or not this is a coaster.
  17. As far as Holiday World lodging, I recommend Santa's Lodge (http://www.santaslodge.com/). It's slightly pricey, but worth it for the convenience of staying a quarter mile from the park. If you want budget, it's worth investing in a small tent and a sleeping bag to camp at Lake Rudolph next door to the park for about $40/night. Lake Rudolph even offers free shuttle service to and from Holiday World's front gate.
  18. Yep, directly on the other side of I-264. If you have the endurance to climb to the top of Deep Water Dive's tower, you can get a really nice view of the airport from there.
  19. Snapchat itself doesn't seem to fit his style. He's too old for it. jcgoble3, who at 29, is also too old to understand Snapchat...
  20. Great report and even better photos! Thanks for sharing! I'd follow you on Instagram, except that I don't have an Instagram account.
  21. Now you're reminding me of that moment three years ago when someone commented that a picture of an apple would be taken as a clue, and an hour later, Don tweeted... a picture of an apple. If you guys cause him to do that again, I might die of laughter. (By the way, if you want to relive the apple incident, or weren't around for it, links are in the first post of this thread. )
  22. Disney has won the first lawsuit via summary judgment: http://deadline.com/2016/04/disney-wins-autistic-kids-lawsuit-discrimination-americans-with-disabilities-act-1201746416/
  23. Just a guess, but possibly maintenance performed a repair today and they decided to run a block check?
