As far as tackiness goes, though, that photo is on par with the Big Noodle. jcgoble3, running for the exit -
VR coming to 9 Six Flags Coasters
jcgoble3 replied to marth555's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
According to the FAQ (linked earlier), riders will be able to put the headset on and adjust the straps while still in line, so no. It's also said, I believe in the same FAQ, that there will be multiple headsets for each seat, so that one set can be getting sanitized while other set are in use and yet more sets are available for riders still in line to get them on and situated. So they can be cycled around (from station to ride to sanitizing back to station). -
Per his employer's policy, he does not. That said, now that you say "mistake", are you referring to the lowercase "i" in "Kings Island", which this forum's word filter automatically corrected when I posted it?

I included both the picture and the text. Besides, it's a beautiful picture that's worth sharing anyway.

According to the FAQ (https://www.sixflags.com/national/special/new-2016/faq), "gyros, accelerometers and proximity sensors synchronize all of the action" and "the visuals on the virtual reality screen are synched precisely with the coaster’s drops, twists and turns, [so] there is no motion sickness as some might expect." From that, I would assume that those gyros and other sensors are used to compensate for speed variations on the fly. -

Bingo! Never underestimate the stupidity of the general public. That single issue, I predict, will put a permanent end to this concept after no more than one season. -
According to https://www.cedarpoint.com/plan-a-visit/rider-height-requirements, it's 6' 6" also.

Cedar Point's rides, from what I've heard, are much less forgiving than Kings Island's. If you've had to be "pushed down" at KI, expect a walk of shame or two at CP. If riding everything is important to you, I'd suggest making an effort to lose some weight starting very soon (of course, talk to your doctor first). In particular, you're (likely) not done growing yet, so if you're already 6' 4", there's a chance you could eventually grow too tall for some of the rides at CP, as several have 6' 6" limits, including the "big three" (Top Thrill Dragster, Millennium Force, and Maverick). TTD and Millie, in particular, are known to cause problems for larger guests; if you're not able to fit on them this year, and grow too tall before the 2017 season, then you won't ever have the chance to ride them. So I would strongly suggest losing some weight now so that you have the chance to ride TTD and MF before it's too late.

They're back up now. According to a check of http://downforeveryoneorjustme.com/pixelcaster.com a few minutes ago, the website hosting the webcams was briefly down. However, it's working now.

Let's just say that I won't ever get Deluxe Dining again. A lot of food got thrown away because I was stuffed to the gills, and near the end of the week, I was actually declining the appetizer in the interest of minimizing waste. It was way too much food then, and my appetite now is about half of what it was back then.

If you pay attention to prices and deals and aren't as concerned about amenities, you can stay on site rather cheaply. In 2012, I was looking to stay on site for seven nights, checking in on Labor Day. In February, the online booking system was quoting me roughly ~$95/night for the All-Star Sports resort. I filled out the form for the vacation planning DVD, and marked September as the month I was looking to visit. After the DVD came, in May Disney sent me a letter offering a limited-time deal to book a Value resort in my chosen month for $83/night, and I booked the All-Star Sports Resort almost immediately. Yes, it's a no-frills, very basic place with outside room entry, but it was sufficient for a place to lay my head at night, which is almost all I used the room for. And I used some of the money that I saved by not going with a Moderate or more expensive resort to splurge for Deluxe Dining. So yes, you don't have to spend a lot of money to stay on-site; you just need to pay attention to when off-peak season is, be willing to stay in an All-Star Resort, and watch for special deals, and you can get a Disney resort for less than some third-party hotels.

What is your favorite ride of the rides listed?
jcgoble3 replied to Blackhole6670's topic in KI Polls
Nope, there is no way to view poll options on Tapatalk. You'll need to view it through the website (a mobile browser is fine). -
In my defense, I was sleepy.

SeaWorld Dishonesty
jcgoble3 replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
If you're willing to be a bit patient and can hold your nose so to speak, the stock is a good buy right now. At some point, this will all be a long-distant memory. But when it's a long-distant memory, will SEAS still exist? And if so, in its current form? -
The Legacy of Arrow Development Lives On

According to the ACE Facebook page, it will be released at 3:00 PM ET, which is in about 45 minutes. -
Now I'm waiting on Don to tweet a picture of an actual molehill so that the enthusiast community can turn it into a mountain. Then Kings Island can name the mountain and put a dark ride inside of it. Win-win!

I'm generally fine with most games. For those who want to spend money on them, the games are there for them. For people like me that would rather keep their money, they can be easily ignored for the most part (aside from the attendants with microphones, but occasionally that can lead to some humorous banter as well). The only complaint I have about them are the stupid bouncing basketballs. Literally: that's it. I try to ignore the games, but the bouncing basketballs just can't be ignored, and they are incredibly annoying. Eliminate the bouncing basketballs and I would not have a single complaint about the games.
-
If you ask and they're not busy, the attendant will usually be happy to demonstrate the proper technique and how "easy" it is. (I suspect that being able to consistently pull it off is a requirement to work that game.) Actually pulling it off to win the prize, though, is really, really difficult. I've never been able to do it.

All I've ever had are the modern, boring Cedar Fair passes, since my first pass was in 2010. I don't even have that first pass (a Gold one) anymore, since I had to turn it in when I upgraded it to Platinum in May 2011. I do have that Platinum Pass still, which was renewed through 2013. I bought a Gold Pass for 2014, but then turned it in later that season to upgrade back to Platinum, which lasted through 2015. So in total, I've had two unique Gold Pass cards and two unique Platinum Pass cards. I still have both of the Platinum cards, but neither of the Gold cards. For the record, and for the benefit of anyone looking at this thread ten years from now (assuming Flickr is still around to serve the photo, which isn't a given), here's the 2011 Platinum Pass on the left, and 2014 Platinum on the right:

I should've known that. Thanks!

SeaWorld Dishonesty
jcgoble3 replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Am I the only one that's amused by this? I love it when anyone annoys PETA, and this is pure gold to me. Also, why wouldn't they want to know what the enemy was up to? If PETA was privately planning something, wouldn't they want to know about it in advance, rather than being surprised by it, so that they can prepare for it? I just don't see how this is a bad thing. -
But Nighthawk isn't at any of those parks! As I think he's previously stated, he wants Nighthawk to be his 100th coaster. Thus, I think what he means here is that doing SFGAM, Holiday World, and KK would push his credit count up to 99, so that when he does visit wherever Nighthawk is, it can be the first ride of the day instead of having to postpone it to later in the day while the credit count is built up with other coasters in the park.
