  1. "And how many in your group?" "Twenty-two." "Uh..." *looks at train with twenty seats* "What do I do here?" That was my favorite part of the whole thing.
  2. In the grand scheme of things, no, it doesn't matter, but at the end of the day, one had good intentions, albeit misguided, and the other is just flat-out dishonest. Were the line jumping rules actually enforced, I'd imagine security would go a little easier on the former, who might just be told to go to the back of the line, than the latter, who could end up ejected from the park for the day.
  3. I wonder how many of those people are actually trying to catch up to other members of their party, and how many are lying just to try to get people to move out of their way.
  4. Tell that to the group of 22 KICers who took over Flying Ace on closing day a few years ago.
  5. On the third-to-last slide, with the calendar of significant dates, I notice that it lists a projected closing date of July 10. Although this contradicts an earlier slide which listed June 30 as projected closing, I wonder what would have happened if the parties had indeed waited until July 10, given that the Son of Beast accident occurred on July 9. Could that accident, sending over two dozen riders to the hospital, have caused Cedar Fair to back out completely over liability concerns, or resulted in the purchase price being renegotiated significantly downward? If the latter, how would Cedar Fair be different today with less debt? If the former, who would have stepped in to buy Kings Island? And if no one, would Kings Island even exist today? Some interesting things to think about there....
  6. City of Sandusky to replace water pipe in Cedar Point parking lot, following two more main breaks since this past Thanksgiving: http://www.sanduskyregister.com/Government/2016/02/16/Sandusky-fixing-Cedar-Point-pipe-problem.html For the newbies, there was another thread on this incident here: http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php/topic/29429-cedar-point/ (discussion starts near the bottom of the first page)
  7. Much better! Looks like I may get some use out of that. Thanks!
  8. Can't read the article via normal means without registering an account, which I refuse to do. So I instead opened Firefox's Inspector and read the article through the source code. That's what sites like guerillamail.com are good for I just looked at that, but all I got was a link farm and a message saying that the domain may be for sale.
  9. It may have enriched FUN, but it sure didn't enrich MY fun.
  10. White Water Canyon riders usually need it more than the log flume riders. That said, I paid for that dryer once. As far as I could tell, it did nothing. I was still just as wet when I came out as when I stepped in. My advice: don't waste your money.
  11. Hey, I like that beagle. He doesn't get you that wet. And sometimes that's all the wet I get off the flume, especially if I'm riding solo. Then again, I don't ride it on closing days when it's cold enough to require jackets.
  12. I can't even... really? What in the world gave you that idea? Have you not heard about the accident on it a few years ago? Have you not heard about Cedar Fair's issues with Intamin? Have you not seen any of the complaints about how bad of a ride it is? Seriously. Shoot the Rapids is dead and not going to another park, certainly not Kings Island. You would be wise to accept that.
  13. I just thought about something regarding the new toll plaza. Gold and Platinum Pass holders are supposed to get dedicated, automated lanes just for them. But we all know how dumb some members of the general public can be. So what happens when a non-passholder ends up in the Gold Pass automated lanes, either accidentally or because they're too stupid to read the signs before picking a lane? Not to mention that the Gold Pass lanes are likely to be the shortest when the tolls are busy, meaning that some people will say "hey, that line's a lot shorter; I'm going to cut over there!" without realizing that they can't use that lane (after all, people did exactly that with Diamondback's single rider line). I really hope they have a solution to prevent a non-passholder in an automated lane that can only handle passes from bringing the whole lane to a complete halt.
  14. Last time I was at Cedar Point, the water rides allowed you to ride without shirt or shoes. The midway to each side of the group of water rides had signs posted saying "shirt and shoes required past this point"—meaning that you could walk around in a swimsuit within that immediate area surrounding the water rides, but no further. As for what I want to replace Shoot the Rapids, I'd like to see a "normal" log flume like Kings Island's take its place. (EDIT: I just realized that this is basically what you said. )
  15. On two occasions in the past, I have called the park to ask a question. On both occasions, I was given incorrect information. Thus, I no longer call the park for anything. If it's during the season, you are far better off driving to the park and asking your question in person at Guest Services. They will actually take the time to research it or radio for someone in the appropriate department if necessary, whereas I feel that the call center just offers a guess if it's not a common question for which they have the answer in front of them. At least that's the feeling I got both of the times I called.
  16. Same here. 2010 was my first visit since the '90s. Missed them both.

  18. I was about to click play until I saw that comment. Nope, don't need another song stuck in my head tonight. "Jingle Bells" and "Deck the Halls" are already fighting it out in there. (And why'd it have to be Christmas songs tonight? *sigh*)

  20. Fantastic article! I never got to experience it, unfortunately. I only rode the two-flip Crypt cycle a few times. I really hope this new line of articles takes off. I've always found Theme Park Tourist's style of writing intriguing, but I've also always been disappointed that there was so much focus on WDW. I'd love to see some regular articles like this on seasonal parks across the country. Good luck!
  21. It doesn't even sound like they were riding in an actual bobsled. The articles above sound like they were on a simple toboggan sled like you might have used on a local hillside on a snow day as a kid.
  22. ...but is it the best system? Or could another system produce greater profit and/or greater overall customer satisfaction (among both guests using the system and guests not using the system)? And what weight should each of those two (profit or customer satisfaction) be given relative to the other?
  23. According to the story I saw, they made him participate in a group exercise with four other applicants without receiving an accommodation required by his special needs. Predictably, he failed to participate effectively, so someone decided based on that failure that he was not a good fit for employment.
  24. And from what I saw on Facebook (I lost the link), the employee is looking elsewhere despite the offer. The bridge is already burned, from the looks of it.
