  1. Great report! Thanks! What is this designed by, a sadistic Roller Coaster Tycoon player?
  2. ^ I "liked" that post for the detailed information and brief history lesson, not for the last sentence. Human trafficking is most definitely not something to like. That said, I'm afraid I have to show my ignorance again. What do you mean by a "work to live" environment?
  3. I'm referring to this calculation: If one train takes 3:15, then two trains without stacking would also take a combined total of 3:15. That then throws off the rest of your calculations. To wit: No; 60 people every 3:15, or 120 people every 6:30. Assuming you meant to say "times 2", it's still incorrect. 60 / 3:15 roughly equals 18.5, multiplied by two trains every 3:15 equals 37 trains per hour. With the corrected numbers, 37 (trains per hour) * 30 (riders per train) = 1,110 riders per hour. You managed to get a reasonable number here, but with completely wrong numbers. As our respective results there are within a reasonable margin of error, I won't alter the capacity calculations below. 6 trains = 3 pairs of trains * 3:15 per pair of trains = 9 minutes and 45 seconds. To allow for a delay, we'll call that 11 minutes. 2 extra trains = 3:15 + 11:00 = 14 minutes and 15 seconds for a full queue. Comprende?
  4. Let me put it this way. The day I went with my mom last year, the two of us waited for Adventure Express through a line that was all the way to the entrance when we started. I told my mom that it would be about 15 minutes, and she didn't believe me either. So I timed it. After 14 minutes and a few seconds in line, we were boarding. I think the error in your math is that a complete two-train cycle is not double the length of a one-train cycle. While train 1 is loading/unloading, train 2 is running the course, and vice versa, so both individual train cycles run simultaneously. And the crew rarely stacks the trains. So take the time you estimated for one train, and assume that time for two trains.
  5. *sigh* And removing them from park maps, as well. *sigh again* jcgoble3, cross-threading (and wishing for an ice-cold Mountain Dew to sip under a tree at Kings Island)
  6. Then you don't want to see the newly released Carowinds 2016 park map: https://www.carowinds.com/plan-a-visit/park-map Not a single tree or three-pronged bush in sight.
  7. 45 minutes?! On Adventure Express? Not even close. 15 minutes from the entrance is more like it. And that didn't really change with the introduction of Fast Lane; for some reason, it doesn't seem to be a popular ride with the Fast Lane crowd.
  8. ^ How is that card weak to Fire? I thought most trolls thrived on provoking others into flaming them. Thus it should be resistant to Fire.
  9. Even better: for season pass drink plans, serve the "free" drinks in smaller, 12 oz. cups at the snack stands, since if we're getting a quick drink there, it's unlikely we're going to want a full 20 oz. cup. I know that the few times I used the old wristbands, I found myself either dumping half the cup, or specifically asking for only half a cup, most of the time outside of meals. Save the 20 oz. cups for the stands that serve meal food, where it's more likely that people will sit down and drink the whole thing along with their meal.
  10. Your [sic] not far off. About 270 yards from the nearest corner of the SOB station, according to Google Earth. jcgoble3, who just had to
  11. Cedar Point > Holiday World, when it comes to bumper cars IMO. Bumper cars without a center island and one-way signs will always be better in my book than bumper cars with those "features". Granted, I last rode CP's Dodgems when they were over by the marina gate, and I think they were recently moved, so I don't know if changes were made in that move. (Not to mention that Holiday World has so little space on each side of their center divider that in my experience it's quite common to end up in a logjam completely blocking one entire side that takes forever to escape and get moving again.)
  12. well, I figured I'd leave myself an "out" for "somebody" There isn't a "somebody". The current state of science simply does not permit accurate forecasting more than about one week out, give or take a couple of days. Accuweather's alleged "45-day forecast" is pure fraud; see the data I collected in April 2012 when they first began offering a 25-day forecast: http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php/topic/25285-accuweather-claims-25-day-forecast/ That ought to show you how impossible it is to forecast more than 5 to 7 days ahead.
  13. I would assume that you have to request. Many, like me, do not like dining outdoors, and many others likely choose Reds Grille specifically to sit in the air conditioning. However, it would also depend on whether they've bothered to schedule enough servers to cover the patio as well as indoors. (Closing Day, I'm looking at you. )
  14. "I have had it with these mother****ing snakes in this mother****ing park!"
  15. LOL! I would have figured it out pretty easily, though. Right here, watching the Daytona 500.
  16. ...proving the point I just made a minute ago in another thread about having too many rides with names ending in "hawk".[emoji14]
  17. No more "hawk"s, please. There's too many _____hawk ride names already.
  18. No! Not Skyscraper! I loved that ride! Skyscraper was one of my favorite rides at Cedar Point.
  19. They have that policy for the Scrambler now? Last time I was there it was just on the antique cars. (Though on a cool May morning when I estimated total park attendance to be less than five hundred, they weren't enforcing it.)
  20. The key to WindSeeker is that it can only operate when it is seeking wind. Once it finds wind, it is no longer a Seeker of Wind and thus shuts down until it loses said wind and has to seek more.
  21. Wait a minute. What if the only thing "#NewFor2016" is the construction itself, and we have to wait until 2017 for the end result of that construction? I think I just blew my own mind.
  22. Much more on that was posted on the HoliBlog this afternoon: http://www.holidayworld.com/holiblog/2016/02/18/back-on-track/
  23. I also got Vortex, which I most definitely am NOT. Count me in the group that wants to see Vortex torn down.
  24. I'm stuck on the first question. I hate all six genres of music that are listed. Where's the option for "country"? I suppose classical annoys me the least.
  25. Third comment: "Please dear friend, you are gonna make the coaster group go crazy." Ya think?!
