  1. malem and I ate at Reds Grille Friday afternoon. We were seated quickly, had our order taken quickly, and our food was out in a reasonable amount of time. Which proves that they CAN do it right, but it would be nice if they were more consistent.
  2. Would the sticker say "Country of Origin: USA" on something that wasn't leaving the country? I seem to recall previous discussions on here saying that that line did not appear on track that was to stay in the States. Or is my mind making things up?
  3. Enthusiast events generally do not contribute to increased crowd levels. I would guess that it will be lightly crowded that day, but trying to predict crowd levels this far in advance can be difficult as weather plays a large role. Days with a forecast for rain are usually less crowded than sunny days. The latter will be even more crowded if there was rain the previous day, because of people who postponed their trip based on the weather. I would definitely say, however, that you should NOT buy Fast Lane in advance. Wait until you get to the park and see the crowds for yourself; chances are that you won't need it. Also, know that Sundays are usually nearly dead in the mornings, with crowds picking up in the early afternoon after people leave church.
  4. ^ And right above the picture with the gigantic arrow, he says "this is where you'll be sleeping-ish". "Sleeping-ish"? I smell a middle-of-the-night wakeup...
  5. I noticed today that The Beach was WAY busier than I had ever seen it before. I'm actually glad to see it crowded like that, because the low crowds on every visit, notably on the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend, were starting to get me concerned about whether the park was bringing in enough revenue. With 15 to 30 minute waits, clearly the place was making money today.
  6. I'm guessing he meant "middle row".
  7. If you're really desperate for a shower, I assume you could go into the waterpark at 11:00 and shower. Also, KI already allows food to be brought in on any day when necessary to fulfill specific dietary needs. See https://www.visitkingsisland.com/plan-a-visit/frequently-asked-questions: "Exceptions are made for Guests with special dietary needs to include food allergies and baby food and formula. Guests with special dietary needs should stop at Guest Services located at the Front Gate when they arrive at the Park."

  9. https://www.visitkingsisland.com/events/things-to-do/events-and-promotions/Coaster-Campout-7-28-15-45 Thursday, August 13, to Friday, August 14. Includes ERT on Diamondback, Woodstock Gliders, and Snoopy's Space Buggies Thursday night, plus access to Gold Pass ERT Friday morning. $200 per campsite, which goes to charity, with 500 10×10-foot campsites available (in the picnic grove). NO SHOWERS AVAILABLE. Deadline to purchase is August 11. Anybody on KIC planning to go?
  10. ^ The link to that site has been posted here a few times. They have some cool stuff.
  11. I see it also. Possibly maintenance testing something? EDIT: Banshee is also cycling. I just saw the flash from the on-ride photo camera.
  12. Did you actually ask them about that? You seem like the type of person that would.
  13. Multiple such cases have been mentioned in this thread, and have been specifically pointed out when this false argument was previously made. They should not need to be pointed out again. The ride op is not in any way required to let you ride alone just because you want to. Park policy may require them to pair you anyway, or the supervisor on the ride at the time may have decided that improving capacity is more important than fulfilling seating requests, or there could be any number of other reasons why such a request would be denied.
  14. Yeah, that's a straw man argument. I said that the park needs to take reasonable steps to prevent this type of situation. In no way did I ever imply that no one should ever be allowed to take any risks at all. The difference here is that all of those risks that you talked about are already reduced and mitigated by reasonable precautions and preventative measures. The issue of potential molestation, or false accusations of such, does not have those precautions. In fact, according to several posters in this thread, the park is in some cases enforcing policies that INCREASE the chances of this happening. That is absolutely not right. The park needs to recognize this and stop forcing single riders to sit with someone else, particularly unrelated children. The slight increase in capacity from filling one extra seat here and there is not worth the massive damages that just one incident of molestation or false accusations by a child could, or rather would, cause. Period.
  15. What child? I am single with no children.
  16. When the potential damage from a single incident is so severe, playing the "what if" game is the right thing to do. This is the type of thing that should never, EVER, be allowed to happen. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
  17. If hit early enough, at the first sign of something wrong, it might allow time to evacuate riders before the supports finally give way.
  18. On the other hand, for some people the jerkiness is more of a problem than the headbanging. And for some of those people, it's a problem even in 5-1. I've ridden Vortex exactly once this season, and said ride was in 5-1. I managed to avoid most of the headbanging, but the jerkiness was enough to leave me with a headache that lasted for two hours and forced me to sit out a Beast ride. Given that experience, that might be my final ride ever on Vortex.
  19. I'm guessing that The Bat does not have Fast Lane only because there isn't a reasonable way to implement it without some significant construction to add a second queue. The short line is certainly not why, as otherwise rides like some of the small Coney flats wouldn't have FL. As for the app, I have twice received Fast Lane discount offers in the afternoon. The latest one came on my most recent visit on Saturday; at 3pm, I received a push notification offering me $25 Fast Lane Plus after 4pm. The fine print noted that the offer was only given to persons who were inside the park at 3pm. On a related note, the app is a bit creepy. On both of my last two visits, it has produced a push notification saying "Welcome to Kings Island!" immediately upon passing through the tolls. What kind of sorcery is that?
  20. Nope. See my post above. The hours page has been updated (and in a rather amateur manner) to remove any mention of the wave pool being open.
  21. Sunday, August 16, per the park's response to a tweet I sent them earlier this month.
  22. ^ They are in the Lotsapalooza store, on the right side of the fountains. When you walk into the store, they are on the far right wall. I was looking at them post-closing Saturday night.
  23. I've also seen IROC used in reference to Cedar Fair ride op training recently. I'm guessing that's what he meant.
  24. Saturday night, the skunk was at the White Water Canyon exit. Either there's more than one, or he sure gets around. [emoji14]
