A floral tunnel would be great! Doesn't Carowinds have one as well? Another one I forgot, How about some music in the Delirium cue? The Coaster Gods knows the speakers are loud enough!

Went yesterday, FoF is amazing! Which got me to thinking, and looking. KI is clearly sprucing the park up, adding little touches that us enthusiasts can't get enough of. So lets help out and post simple observations we have that maybe an employee can pass on to management(feel free to take credit for noticing if you want to). Let's keep it positive and realistic. Adding a 12 loop inverted stratacoaster is a little more dificult than changing a light bulb. Here's an idea of what I'm talking about: In the first room of FoF, there's a spinning emergency light over the door leading into the spaceship cue. The reflector spins, but the bulb is out. Also, if they pan the camera in the spaceship cue to where there is usually a line, it will look cooler in the video where they cut to the live shot instead of showing an empty cue. In Boo Blasters cue room there's 2 ghosts that pop up and a mounting cross bar that pops up where another character could be added. What have you noticed?

Agreed. Think about this. A family gets platinums and comes to KI last Saturday for a week long vacation. They get there early Sat. Sun. Mon. for DB/Beast ERT (jammin' vacation so far) Tuesday they show up to be redirected to WS/ Vortex. OK, first day on a new ride, kinda cool, but that free continental breakfast and WS/Vortex don't exactly get along in the youngins' tummies so well. After that, WS is down occasionally, leaving Vortex as the big ERT pass benefit. They started the week on a DB/Beast ERT marathon, and ended their vacation on a Vortex ERT marathon. That would really suck. Off topic: standbyme, thanks for the updated Avatar!

Couple sitting on bench across from BLSC with their heads buried in the park map. We're exiting, walking towards Vortex. Guy looks up, I guess he notices I'm an old fart about his age and comes up and says, "Where is Back Lot Stunt Coaster?" I point right behind us, "It's right there." He says, "Is it a coaster?" I said, "Yes, Back Lot Stunt Coaster is a Coaster!" He laughed when he realized what he asked.

Funny, you'd think they'd take the sign down. Or at least cover the word "fog". If you think about it warning people about something that isn't coming is kind of funny. Why not have a little fun and warn guests about the huge water spraying fire pit or animatronic machine gun weilding Dinosaurs in the tunnel!
-
Here's another BLSC question. At the entrance there's a warning sign preparing guests for among other things, "fog". Where was fog ever used, and why is it not used anymore?

It was raining last Saturday, DB op says, "Enjoy Diamondback, the worlds tallest water slide!"

Last Saturday, my wife and I were physically blocked in front of the Gold Pass entrance while trying to get to DB ERT. Before we left I found a photo manager and told him that if these kids didn't move away from the entrance, they were going to get trampled by us trying to get to DB and fast walking passers had no interest in a picture. He said he'd bring it up in the next meeting. We went the next day and they moved them.........to the opening of the concourse!!! It's worse than ever. I know these kids are doing what they're told, but geez they really need to dial it back a notch before someone gets hurt. I'm tempted to use a line my large friend used to say, "Move, or Bleed". These kids are in a tough spot, and I really do feel for them. Maybe there won't be such a rush to get to Vortex/WS ERT.

Inconsistant gold pass parking security. Pot holes that look like they could swallow a Mini Cooper. C'mon KI, show the parking lot some love!
-
Got there 5:20 and there was an employee checking passes. Guess what, it was MUCH easier finding a spot in the Gold pass lot! THANK YOU KI!!!!

Winds had to be 20+ this afternoon and WindSeeker ran nonstop. It's interesting to stand outside Vortex and look up. When the turning cycle slows down on the decent, the seats do move forward and backwards coming close to the other seats.Physics....go figure.
-
So every ERT morning that the breeze is over 10mph, we'll have the pleasure of 1/2hour (hour on saturdays) marathons on Vortex!! Can't wait.

Windseeker & Coney Mall Construction Continues
Snowman replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
I was tempted to start a topic called "Why are there so many WindSeeker topics" -
Of all the things to be remembered for, I finally have something to be proud of! Glad ya'll had fun, and sounds like another coaster junkie is born. (I would add a WindSeeker/butt joke, nahh, it's just too easy!)

I read it..... I can hope someone with decision making ability might read this thread and consider leaving Beast/DB open for ERT.
-
Excellent question!! Let's hope KI will consider how popular ERT for Beast/DB has been this season, simply add WS/Vertigo and not replace.
-
I remember them telling Bert to do that when he rode Intimidator 305. It really works! It also helps avoid embarrassing messes.

I will never claim to be the most observant coaster geek around. We rode FOF yesterday and I could swear KI has added alot more colored lights in the que and loading platform. Outside the spaceship seemed to have more dramatic gelled lights hitting the ship and some of the props moved around. Inside the second room of the ship, purple florescent are lighting the ceiling where I remember it was dark or just had 1 red light before. Also the "Pods" in the launch room seemed to be more lit. Has anyone else noticed this? Has this been there since opening day, am I a few wheels short of a roller coaster?
-
If you want to avoid the dizziness of the launch/helix, squeeze you butt cheeks together. I'm not joking, it keeps the blood in your head.

It's on a timer. But it may be a haunted timer!

Shouldn't this topic be titled "Guest Say the Darndest Things" I don't know what "Darnest" means! After reading this topic for months, I just noticed the spelling today. Duh. Yesterday, dad leaving Delirium with kid, "Let's go to Firehawk, that line moves really fast!"

The point is that a reserved parking area is advertised as a pass "perk". The regular lot would be a lot more full if an employee was there turning the GP away from the area reserved for Gold/Platinum pass holders.
-
My wife and I have gone to KI the last 2 evenings around 5:PM. We followed the line of cars to the front of the Gold Pass reserved parking area only to find every car going in and no employee stopping the GP from parking there. The lot was pretty much full with cars following people going to their cars for the parking spot. I called KI this morning and the customer service employee had no idea why someone wasn't there to stop the GP. She passed my question on to her supervisor and I asked them to follow up with me but I have heard nothing. A reserved parking area is listed as a benefit for gold/platinum pass holders. It does say on a first come, first served basis, but if no one is checking passes, should the "first come, first served" include the GP? Is this a benefit only if you come in the mornings? I'm posting this because there are a lot of very knowledgeable posters here who know the inner workings of KI and the policies very well, and maybe could explain why the reserved pass parking is turned over to the GP in the afternoons. Thanks.

They were rehearsing yesterday during DB's ERT. They sounded great, we can't wait. It was really cool listening to them while waiting to get back into the station.

Can you identify suspect in Kings Island assault?
Snowman replied to KIfan73's topic in Kings Island
This is terrible, I have no children myself so I can't comment on a parents reaction. Whenever we're in the restroom from now on, let's make sure everyone seems comfortable and there's no kids that seem scared. KI should be a place to feel safe and just have fun.
