  1. I've ridden three stand-ups: A smaller B&M (Vortex at Carowinds), a larger B&M (Mantis), and a TOGO (SkyRider). I would say that in my experience, the smaller B&M was the best, followed by the TOGO, with the large B&M being far below the others.
  2. Well, it looks like Ed Hart was actually leading the industry in at least one area after all!
  3. Fog is a double edged sword. It can irritate contacts (from what I have heard) and could make some gag. To others, it is a thrilling shrowd that covers the park and literally makes the park into a dark corpse of itself. But at the same time, what fog fluid irritates you? There are MULTIPLE brands and MULTIPLE solutions on the market by the way, so if needed Kings Island could prospectively change solutions. Why not you may ask? I (personally) believe that it is due to how the fog is the best for the park, it suits every aspect and every corner of Haunt. Also, it does not give off a huge scent like many other solutions. (Or maybe I have just gotten so used to it that I adore the smell anyways, as I honestly do) My issue with the fog has very little to do with quality and everything to do with quantity. I prefer to be able to see when I walk around Kings Island. I don't mind the fog in and of itself, but tone it down. A lot. You can still have a fun effect without giving me a hands-on demonstration of what it's like to be blind.
  4. Why? Because I'm a believer that every discussion has two sides. And am hoping that the park sees my fog complaint and fixes it. That's the biggest thing that ruins Haunt for me.
  5. Oh boy... Halloween Haunt. I, for one, can't wait until I get to enjoy another great season at Kings Island in April! - homestar92, who is no fan of Halloween Haunt, and will miss the part of the season when the park doesn't look tacky and stupid. And not having absurdly thick fog that reduces visibility to dangerous levels.
  6. Camden park season passes? I'm so sorry...- Homestar92, who ranks Camden solidly as the worst amusement park he's ever been to. (In all seriousness, I'm glad you enjoy the park. It's probably wonderful. I had a very bad first impression when I went last week and will likely never be returning. But I sincerely hope that you have a blast and enjoy many Pronto Pups)
  7. I've never had that problem, so it's probably just you. Hard to say what could be causing that though. Sounds like the video itself isn't loading. I resolved the issue. It was happening for ALL video (Flash or HTML5) in Chrome. A Chrome update did not fix it. A graphics card update did.
  8. This is somewhat off-topic, but am I the only one here for whom YouTube videos are not rendering, instead seeing only a black frame?
  9. I'd be happy in a world with more Dinns. It's a lonely existence...
  10. I don't fully understand Twisted Colossus. Is it a racing coaster? Do you ride the full circuit (both lift hills) in one go? If so, how do they synchronize the trains? Does it count as a Mobius loop? It looks fun and all, but I have so many questions...
  11. Someone should submit a model of #jonathan for Google Earth.
  12. I'm still just sitting here, hoping that things can work out for this park... I don't want to lose Thunder Run and Lightning Run. They are such wonderful, wonderful coasters. We will see what happens with T2... er, T3. If ever there were an SLC that is a candidate for Vekoma's new trains, it would be that one. And, if it were to receive them, maybe the coaster could be almost enjoyable. At any rate, I can't fathom it being any worse than the instrument of torture that they call an SLC at a certain park in Ontario...
  13. I would like to see drinking fountains like they have at Kentucky Kingdom, which have another nozzle up high that is designed for filling plastic bottles.
  14. For me personally, my in-park spending dropped to basically zero, but not because of the dining plan. Before that, I would pack a lunch and eat in the car or leave for Taco Bell. Banshee's requiring a locker for loose articles is what brought my spending to zero. I used to bring my souvenir cup and drink lots of soda. Now, when faced with the option of stow the cup in a locker at $2 (or more) per use, walk back to my car and put it there, or just get free water, I elected for water. Not having soda on the meal plan has also more or less eliminated my desire to drink soda at the park period. So, uh, thanks for not having bins on Banshee, Kings Island. You make the line move faster, make me spend less money, and keep me somewhat healthier
  15. Cracker Barrel Old Country Stores have you covered for all of your Bubble Up needs.
  16. Cedar Fair also operates to some extent out of Charlotte since the purchase. When I was job searching, I looked at full-time careers with Cedar Fair and many of the openings were located in Charlotte.
  17. Even on coasters with more or less than 8 rows? But seriously, I know what you're getting at, but don't be so quick to disregard the back seats. Sit in the last row on Vortex, and I guarantee your experience will be far, far more enjoyable than in the front. It all comes down to how the ride was designed and at what point in the ride you encounter any particular forces.
  18. I may be wrong, but I believe that in both of those games, everyone wins a prize of some sort. Some are certainly more valuable than others, but perhaps this fact qualifies them as not being a gambling game .
  19. Ah, Dollar Days on Labor Day weekend. It sounds like that will be a great weekend for a visit to Kennywood!
  20. Having to have its reputation tarnished by being involved with Tombstone Terror-Tory is a very unfortunate disservice that has been done to our lovely train. Normally I have no real qualms with the mazes. They're not my cup of tea, but people like them, so live and let live. Tombstone Terror-Tory robs me of two of my favorite rides in the park and in exchange we get one of the sorriest attempts at a "maze" I've ever seen. A linear path with fog so thick you can't see two inches in front of your face isn't even remotely a maze. The only thing it is, is annoying.
  21. The High Striker game actually has very little to do with strength. There is a technique to it, just like all of the games at an amusement park. Though I have never seen a winner at Kings Island on that game in particular, I have seen a winner on the version at Cedar Point (which as far as I can tell is the same as ours).
  22. In a couple years, there should be a Chance Hyper GT-X available pretty cheap that would EASILY fit in the park! Hey, I can dream, right?
  23. I don't think Cedar Fair has a problem with that. It's Carowinds's year to shine. Kings Dominion will have its turn, but if I were in corporate, I'd want all eyes on Carowinds right now. And rightly so, it was a fantastic park before. It will undoubtedly be even better now.
  24. The trains have, to my knowledge been moved. However, at least as of KIC day on June 15th, 2013, the Flight of Fear building did house a few seats from The Crypt, some lift chain that could have been from anything really (maybe King Cobra, but it could be Vortex's old chain that broke, a chain that was replaced from another ride, etc. Also, contrary to popular belief, Flight of Fear's track is painted black, not silver. Beneath the black paint is yellow primer. I suppose I can share a few pics too. And my personal favorite:
