Screamscape is reporting with Theme Park Tourist as its source, that an agreement has been made between Dollywood and Hoos on the settlement over Timber Tower. And with that, it is likely the ride will not reopen. http://www.themeparktourist.com/news/20120208/5959/dollywood-timber-tower-ride-likely-not-reopen

New Zero G Coaster Design
kingsrattler replied to SonofBeast07's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Looks like a decent enough idea (and a lot of fun) but at this time.. can you think of a company that's willing to put down 50 million for a coaster? -
^ So your telling me there's a chance it will re-open?

^ Well it's name is Soak City. That would be a fine name to call it.

Soak City Construction Continues
kingsrattler replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
The current wave pool is of the "small wave" variety. The new wave pool is supposed to be on par with the waves at Cedar Point, or about two times the size of those at Kings Island and The Beach. -
^ That would be a very good guess.

Is it just me, or does that picture make Julie look like she has some crazy wolverine like 'chops?

PETA does not have beef with a place like seaworld Sea World when at Taco Bell, they have horse meat, they do however have beef at Wendy's. (That is for you TombRaider, best I could come up with) Disclaimer: Taco Bell does not have horse meat. Just playing off the claim that happened oh a few months ago, that it was being used in their taco meat.

You're right - sorry for the blanket statement. I guess I was quickly remembering the differences between Cedar Point and KI back in the 80s - how Cedar Point had more thrill rides but was less themed (and the lands less compartmentalized). And then how that mentality seems to be reflected in the current moves at KI - recently added coasters that have basically been plopped down without much thought to overall park themeing, or without consideration of adding/keeping areas where visitors can relax. While I agree that most of the rides added by Cedar Fair have been thrill rides (Firehawk, Diamondback, WindSeeker) I have to disagree with taking much consideration to areas where guest can relax. The addition of Diamondback brought a complete renovation to Rivertown, with plenty of benches and landscaping added. Same thing with Planet Snoopy and Coney Mall. While they have not brought in any family rides, I believe they have done their part in beautifying the park.

Very good post beast. I agree mostly with you have said. I follow financial and commodity markets very closely (my future depends on it, as there will be no such thing as social security when I retire in 40 years.) Oil and gas futures change on a daily basis on many many different cause and effects.. from economic outlook, to supply pileups/draw downs, to wars and political threats. But I also agree, that the more expensive that oil gets, the more resources that we are able to find that we can extract or create a carbon based oil product. From sand shales, to algae that can produce an oil equivalent as their excrement, we have the technology to extract and produce oil. As the price grows, so does the opportunities to extract equivalents. And also as the price rises, so does the opportunities for resources that seem too expensive to use now.. become more affordable. And as more resources become available and affordable, there will be an equilibrium in oil prices as more energy is moved to different resources. It just may not be a price point that we all become accustomed to for many years. But at one point in time, our only transportation cost was the feed for our horse. Think about what they would think if generations ago heard we paid 10 bucks to get from work and back in one day.

Just for reference... Cedar Fair did not remove Les Taxi... Paramount did. As far as I'm aware.. Cedar Fair has not removed any rides from Kings Island (although, there are two large thrill rides that are not operating.. but they are thrill rides.. not family rides).
