Strange, the blog has been missing from the site for a few weeks now, but the photo of the day now being gone has me puzzled.
-
Red, I felt the Red side was running better last season, unless the Blue side got some TLC this off season.
-
I'm confused about that too. I thought Monster came from Coney Island. Please explain why Monster is not in this pic.

Looks so weird not seeing SOB!
-
Vortex or The Beast most likely. Those are my two favorite rides of all time at KI.
-
You have to select other posts, someone asked if the ride was being retired, and then Don replied to the question. You shouldn't miss it, it was posted today.
-
It's been comfrimed via KI's Facebook page, that Thunder Alley has been retired. I'm sure it's all for the future expansion of the SOB land. Everything has a long term plan. I'm thinking that where we will see a new roller coaster station pop up. I can at least dream, and hope it comes true.

A Piece of Winterfest History: Live on Stage
PKIVortex replied to XGatorHead 8904's topic in Kings Island
This has been bugging me ever since I saw it but there is, what looks to be, an old entertainment prop from KI that faces the highway. It's the old paramount symbol minus the mountain, so just the stars. Has anyone else seen this and if so, is it from KI? Yes, that was used as the tree topper (Eiffel Tower) during winterfest, in 2005. -
Could the Did they start doing this this year at CP or something? (I've never been to Halloweekends.) I really dislike the idea of upcharge haunts... Hope this isn't the new trend. Or are they talking about the fact that Haunt isn't included with the standard pass? Could't the preminum mazes and haunts also refer to Fright Lane?

That is a lead car to a roller coaster train, they are called timberliners.

How Many Visits Did You Make to Kings Island in 2012?
PKIVortex replied to BoddaH1994's topic in KI Polls
I went to KI 15 times this year. Cedar Point about 10 times, and Holiday World once. -
I guess Vortex holds that special place in my heart cause I rode it during it's opening year in 1987 and have been riding it every since. I also rode Magnum in it's opening year 1989.
-
Considering Thunder Alley closed after Labor day, and it's now removed from the website, I would bet it don't return in 2013. I bet it gets ripped apart with the rest of SOB. I wonder if we will see visible work being done by opening day 2013? I hope the rumors are true.

I love Arrow coasters, even more then the B&M's of today, call me crazy I guess, but Vortex is one of my all time favoirte coasters, along with Magnum at CP.

FUN hires Squire Sanders To Lobby
PKIVortex replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Huh? I have no idea what any of that means? -
Yes Vortex was complely repainted in the beginning of the 2001 season, I worked at that ride that season.
-
I just hope when the day comes that Vortex does get retired, they give it's fans a chance to say goodbye. But I hope this isn't going to be for quite a few more years.
-
I was thinking the same thing. More then half the drop is GONE, and it seems that the part of the ride after the second helix is gone, at least what we can or cannot see in this photo.

Last year. I don't think it was a whole new chain, just a link.

Iron Dragon ran all 3 trains this past season at CP. I think the reason why they don't run 3 trains per side on Gemini anymore is cause they don't need 3 trains as the ride isn't as popular as it was in the 70's and 80's and early 90's. Corkscrew usually rotates trains every year. They do they same thing on AE at KI, one of the trains goes thru rehab during the summer month's, so they only have to rehab one of the trains during the winter. As with Vortex being the 4th most popular ride in the park, I don't see Vortex going anywhere anytime soon. Vortex also seemed to operate really well this year, and it was running really well during the Fall.
-
Thunder Alley was not open to my knownledge after Labor Day. I know that was a first, I would say it's GONE!
-
They always start taking the trains/ride vehicles to matinance the day after the park closes. They have a lot of work ahead them to get to ready again for 2013.
-
I figured they would keep the station for either a new coaster, or just to keep wolf pack.
-
The second half of the ride is still in tact, remember they are parts of the ride you can't see even from the tower becasue it's blocked by the lift. The second helix till the break run are still in tact.
