  1. They may make you turn off the necklaces, but they don't prevent 4 year old (my guess, but close enough) kids to walk thru the mazes. Spent the first half of Field of Screams in close proximity to a group that included the close to 4 year old, plus a kid that looked to be about 6 or 7. The scareactors, rightly toned things down when they saw them, but it ruined it for the people I was with. Once we were able to get a little bit ahead, we got some good attempts at scaring us. For the life of me, I can't figure out why a parent thought that was a good idea, the little girl was predictably crying at the end of the maze, her mother was predictably also asking why she was crying. Common sense ain't so common.
  2. I doubt they "ordered it last week", they've had their construction schedule on hand for months, likely tweaked it a few dozen times and probably have had the crane lined up for quite some time. It will show up when/if it is needed. This isn't some mom & pop outfit scheduling things on the fly.
  3. seems very underwhelming. I would have thought that there would be 1 "knock your socks off" coaster addition at one of their 13 parks. The SS free spins look neat, but as mentioned above, terrible capacity and its not unique to any 1 particular park.
  4. I'm sure that referred to Mystic Timbers. Banshee may disagree with that comment.
  5. If you build it, they will scream!!! A teaser 4 years in the works
  6. great report, had me laughing at several points. any pictures of the pin?
  7. There are no options for Jr or Sr for Gold passes as they are all the same price at this point. I'm not sure if they even have a Jr or Sr gold pass anymore, just a regular season pass.
  8. thanks. Saturday evening services are an option at our church, however my wife plays at the 9:00 mass and my kids have Sunday school following that at 10:00, so getting there early, while desirable, is not an option.
  9. Got a handful of questions on the water park. Our 8 year old has been begging to go all year, so we finally agreed to take him on sunday, along with our 4 year old, however we've never been (or perhaps haven't been in a very long time, can't recall if I ever went to the water park at KI, went to The Beach many times as a kid, not sure about the one at KI). Anyhoo, figured many of you have answers. I've read about getting lockers and what not, and am prepared, however, if we have beach towels laying on a chair, are those in serious jeopardy if we walk away to do ride something? What about flip flops? Wouldn't plan to bring our best towels, nor a great pair of flip flops, but if we need to gather our stuff and throw it in a locker along with anything else any time one of us isn't at a chair somewhere we will. My daughter is pretty good at swimming in the "shallow end" up to 3 foot or so, but would need a life vest (or at least I'd feel more comfortable with one on her) for any "bigger" slides she's tall enough for, the wave pool, etc... She's roughly 42" so I don't think she can ride any of the really big ones, are there slides for kids where the lifevest is a good option, or are the small kid ones all so small that there is little threat? Can we bring our own life jacket from home, or do we have to rent/borrow one from KI? Sunday calls for highs in the upper 70s, so its not going to be overly hot, but its still a Sunday. Should we expect a crowded Soak City? We've got church in the morning, then Sunday school, then dropping the infant off at my mother in law's house, so realistically we wouldn't make it to the water park until around 12-12:30. Definitely can't make it there for opening at 11:00 (or earlier if they have early access for Gold passes, which I think they do, but is moot) Any other advice? Our 8 year old has been on all of the coasters at KI with the exception of Firehawk, heights generally don't bug him much, not sure about slides. I'm definitely more hesitant on heights. Coasters don't bother me too much, but there are slides I will avoid for sure, not sure about my wife and slides. The Cliff at the Beech felt huge when i was a kid, and was brave enough to try it many times, but now as I drive by it looks puny compared to slides at KI.
  10. Really??? Color me shocked...hope it works out this time. What is a smoke house? I assume a place to grab some grub?
  11. after watching a POV it appears that those cars a terrible design in terms of safety, even more so if you are talking about a 3 year old boy and a 7 year old brother, but just terrible in general from a safety standpoint. I'm sure they make the ride much more fun, but there is a reason why The Beast and Racers lost their buzz bar and installed seat belts. It may not be quite as enjoyable, but it offers far less liability to the park.
  12. I saw the process that they have to go thru on that Mike Rowe show (dirty jobs, or tough jobs, whatever it was called, can't recall exactly). Basically have to set off explosives to get it apart then chisle away the rest. I'm sure those truck drivers are instructed not to waste time. IIRC, they have roughly an hour from when they leave the plant to when they have to get the cement poured. With that said, no way they are as crazy as steel workers. I've seen those guys putting up structure for both buildings and roller coasters, there is not enough money in the world to get me to do the job those people do.
  13. So in order to avoid the drenching of Captain Biscuit, I must bring an old, unused phone, hold it high above my head like I'm trying to protect it and tell my son to start fake crying really loud. Easy peasy
  14. It would probably look a lot like Firelight Park.
  15. the mention of Planet Snoopy sparked my memory. Valleyfair had a really cool, 2 story "fun area" (not sure what to call it) for kids that featured a bunch of soft foam ball shooters, vacuum tubes to suck the balls up from the first floor to the 2nd so that they could be loaded into the "shooters" from above, ramps, etc...... All in the comfort of AC. it was a pretty cool area that could be enjoyed by kids of several ages. Not sure how to describe properly in order to do it proper justice, but something like that ramped up with more climbing nets and slides would be a hit in Planet Snoopy.
  16. Florida....seems to attract the strange (and in this case sad) stories of life.
  17. Hmm... Don't know how often they use their amphitheater, but that spot plus the enterprise spot could make a good spot for a station and lift hill on an invert the size of Raptor that could also interact with the front gate. Valleyfair could certainly use a new coaster, and a solid B&M invert would fit that park very well.
  18. I'm not exactly sure what constitues a car in this case, But both Renegade and Prowler have what appear to my untrained eye to have 12 cars, 2 riders per car, 24 total. Perhaps, the "cars" are joined by 2 w/ a joint b/w them to consider them 1 actual car, thus creating 6 cars of 4 riders, the same 24 total. I know that is confusing, but I'm assuming the trains are set up similar to both, off ride videos are available on both which clearly show the trains from the side.
  19. My son Eli is 23 months old and is baaaarely less an inch away from 36 in which he can graduate to the next level of rides other than Train Junction and moon buggies. But hey, he still gets in for free and who's complaining. Right? It's funny other parents ask if he's 3. Haha.Sent from my SM-G935P using Tapatalk Just in case you were not aware. At under 36" you can ride The Monster, Linus' Beetle Bugs (though I highly recommend having someone a sitting to their outside, and wish the operators would recognize that as well), Joe Cool's Dodge 'Em School, Peanuts 500, Sally's Sea Plane and a handful of other rides. Some of the rides are obvious, sitting in Planet Snoopy, but rides like Monster can easily be missed. And again, I'd highly recommend having another kid (preferably a bit older) sitting to their outside on The Beetle Bugs. there are some decent forces and I'm amazed how many kids that can't quite control their body are thrown around and the operators do nothing about it. My wife has complained multiple times to both the operators and guest services. Typically the kids that can support themselves fully thru the forces or have someone to shield them from moving too far on the lateral forces around the bends look to have a ton of fun. Its the kids that can't support themselves that get scared and start crying. Also, the Scrambler is 36" when your little hits that mark, another one that is easily missed. Additionally, there appear to be some issues w/ the website and their height requirement page.
  20. Fairly close guesses pulled out of places you don't want to see
  21. My son is a fast grower, and has ridden just about everything in the park save I think Firehawk. We could pass the seasons knowing he would grow about 2-4" b/w birthdays. his birthday is smack in the middle, so it was 40" shortly before his 3rd birthday, then 42" late that summer (shake, Rattle & Roll), 46" right shortly after his 5th birthday (and allowed me to realize the enjoyment that Congo Falls can be), 48" around his 5th, then finally hit 54" last fall when he was 7. Our 4 year old daughter is similar a fast grow, not quite as fast, but more than most. However, unlike her brother, she doesn't like rollercoasters much beyond The Pumpkin coaster. She rode Woodstock express last year, and 1 this year, but won't ride it again, won't get on Viking Fury again, used to love The Monster when she was 2, but won't ride it now, etc... Loves the Beetle Bugs and The Scrambler but not much else with any type of force on it.
  22. Really? well that is even better. Have you been on it? I want to say yes, but I'm not 100%. Thoughts? I thought it looked like fun in the POVs and great as a true family coaster. Edit: after posting this I saw your comment about your kid's height, so perhaps I'm thinking of someone else.
  23. That would be my guess as well, a Plants vs Zombies type attraction which would fit the theming of Mystic Timbers well.
