  1. Here's a cool article I found on F.L.Y. via Coaster101: https://www.coaster101.com/2020/09/19/f-l-y-next-gen-vekoma-flying-coaster-soft-opens-at-phantasialand/
  2. Good eye! I knew one was from Firehawk (with the red and green), but I had to look at it closer to realize the second one was from Vortex. What a cool souvenir! EDIT: Personally, I'm more of a fan of the Firehawk piece, especially as it's both red and green; representing the ride's past and (at one time) present.
  3. I'm guessing that's from Firehawk??? Also, fun fact, if Firehawk was still around (at KI or elsewhere), that particular ride would be celebrating it's 20th next year (because it opened as X-Flight at Six Flags Worlds of Adventure in 2001)!
  4. That would be nice if it came back next year; I'd be willing to try the regular flatbread (hold the onions and sausage!) and the cider. And I'm always up for grilled cheese!
  5. That may explain why it was a good first Haunt maze for me as it wasn't too bad (I enjoyed it!)! Now Trail of Terror on the other hand... that scared me really bad the first (and only) time I went through. I'm proud to say I'm much braver now!
  6. I'm gonna BUMP! this thread as Haunt would be happening around this time if not for current events (and also, it's a good read). Since I was busy scaring in the cornfield last year (and on some nights, you could find me in a wax museum or a hospital), would someone care to give a summary of the Haunt changes that occurred in 2019? I know we got Drums of the Dead and Shipwrecked, but I'm not sure/don't remember if there were any other notable changes. Thanks in advance!
  7. Was said electric chair gag the same one seen at the current Haunt (some years it is near the front gate) or a different one? Also, although this thread is about Museum of Horrors, do you have any more information on The Freezer (as in, what was the experience like/was it really cold in there, etc.?)? Someone answered my question about it in the "History of the Haunt" thread a few years ago, but I was wondering if there was any other info about it. Thanks in advance and thank you for providing all the interesting behind-the-scenes info!
  8. Hey all, I saw on Youtube last night that F.L.Y at Phantasialand (Germany), the worlds first launched flying coaster has soft-opened! Personally, this idea is something I've dreamed about since I was a kid, and since the project took a few years to come into fruition, I was ecstatic when I saw it opened this soon (especially when you consider the current pandemic we are living in...). Check out these videos below: Besides it looking really cool, I had two immediate thoughts during/after watching: 1) it doesn't look that fast and 2) the seat configuration threw me off. I was expecting four across like a B&M, and when seeing the unique seating arrangement, I thought it was just a glorfyied invert (as I thought the seats somehow switched to regular after the launch). It took the second video to realize that yes, these people are actually flying (and not just during said launch)! And on the speed aspect, it's alright as this is the first of its kind; it's just cool that this is even a thing! What are your thoughts on this groundbreaking coaster? Would you like to see one of these come to the US? EDIT: Here is the RCDB page: https://rcdb.com/15201.htm EDIT2: I just realized that this concept occurred 20 years after the first (major) flying coaster opened at (then) Paramount's Great America. Stealth/Nighthawk is also a Vekoma. Look how far they've come...
  9. I think that is the old frozen yogurt spot (and before that, Starbucks). I hope it ends up sticking around; those bread choices sound delicious!
  10. I really like that idea (in bold), I really liked WF in it's 2018/19 incarnation, but if I had to change things up, I would add another coaster*, bring back The Plight before Christmas (or at least a similar type of show) and have more unique experiences like that walkthrough inside Coney Confections. As for changes the park has made re: Winterfest, I thought it was a great idea two years ago when The Mistletones were moved to a separate stage as they almost seemed to "compete" with Jingle Jazz (as both were similar acts sharing the same stage). And I think moving "What the Dickens" indoors was a good idea as well as it's a great usage of that building. Also, I'm glad Winterfest Way got toned down as the first year's decorations were overkill (but maybe that was the point...). Also, NYE was amazing; don't change a thing (except maybe put some BTS in the mix (though I did hear "Boy with Luv" in one of the Planet Snoopy buildings last year)- I would love to hear Mic Drop and I almost guarantee we'll hear "Dynamite" at NYE 2021 considering how popular the song is now)!!! *Though I would love to ride Adventure Express or The Bat in November or December, WF to me really isn't about the rides. The rides are great to have, but I think it's more about the lights, characters and atmosphere. That being said, it would be great if Woodstock Express was open as I thought it was unusual that it wasn't open during Winterfest.
  11. That reminds me of one of those slides (Snake River Rapids, I think it was?) hidden in the back of the Beach waterpark (but that looked to be in much better shape lol). Also, there was Hidden Rapids, where I remember frequently getting stuck in the non-slide parts of the attraction. Also, random tidbit: I remember they never let people pet the goats that where housed near Snake River Rapids and I always thought that was unusual...
  12. Enjoy your day on Saturday; say hi to The Bat for me!
  13. Yeah, that doesn't seem to make sense to me either, especially with seeing the Clifton Hill article showing the rides and the crowded midways. Also, @Shaggy, just want to say that those pictures of Astroworld were awesome! I've always thought the S&S Skyswatter rides were super cool, but unfortunately, there are none left! I would have loved to see one go to KI!
  14. I am so glad Haunt is coming back! I miss my Haunt Fam!
  15. When I was younger, I imagined a Wild Mouse going in King Cobra's old spot (where Delirium is now). Nowadays, I think it may be a great fit for Coney Mall, Rivertown or even Area 72.
  16. That Pandemonium video (the Mach Launch concept Youtube video posted on the last page) was cool; all the sharp twists reminded me of Storm Runner!
  17. I think I know what @dbackdreams is talking about... it may be that one dueling concept shown off at IAPPA that one year Link: https://behindthethrills.com/2018/11/great-coasters-international-unveils-first-wooden-dueling-inverted-coaster/
  18. For me, the only coasters "missing" from CP's lineup (IMO) would be a B&M flyer and a GCI. Though I feel the GCI in the above video could have drops that went to the ground, I really like how it interacts with the scenery/rock work that exists on Adventure Island. However, putting a coaster there may mean the removal of Forbidden Frontier. If this happened, maybe the coaster could still interact with the settlements in some way (though I think that would work better with a flying coaster).
  19. That was a really cool blog post and great video to go along with it! It blows my mind that they built a full size coaster at a factory- the section of straight track before/during/after the trick track comes really close to that building! I never got to ride King Cobra (it was my only "walk of shame" as I was too short- my legs didn't fully reach the floor, even after the seat was adjusted as low as it could go), but I remember seeing it in the park many times as a kid. Stand up coasters in general were a pretty interesting concept; I've only ridden Mantis and Iron Wolf. The former was very interesting and the latter was terrible (IIRC, I rode towards the back and those turns on the second half of the ride were brutal). That being said, I wouldn't mind riding another standup sometime.
  20. This is what I do when drinking bottled water in public nowadays. Also, when I see social distancing markers while out and about, I think about standing on those dots that correspond to the seat number in line for Delirium.
  21. My family and I drove past the park today and it was great to see everything up and running again! Specifically, I saw Orion go as well as The Bat on the lift hill (also, DT was on its way up the tower); everything looked so vibrant! Also, it looks like you get massive ejector air on Orion's return hill (before the helix, I think?).
  22. Thanks for the update; can't wait to read it!
  23. Cool! I saw this book on Coaster Studios' video showcasing their recent CP Trip.
