You were there too, Voicetek? Sorry I missed you! I rode Delirium and Viking Fury in the rain! Fun times. I do agree with you that the $1 pizza/ice cream/cotton candy/merch/games was a very nice perk, and it made me spend over $30! The hotdogs are very good for amusement park dogs, and, I'm not sure if this is new or not, there is a Beast souvenir cup, similar to the shirts they sell.

MiceChat Visits Great Adventure
TheCrypt replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
What an absolutely beautiful park. It is apparent why you love this park so. Thank you for sharing. -
I think the Facebookian was under the impression the reporter thought the kid said the s-h-i-t word, cut himself off, and corrected himself.

What?! Ride in the middle of a car, then it won't get rough. As for the boring aspect, it doesn't exist. I marathoned Adventure Express last night 4 times (adding to my grand total of 7 the entire day--the park was DEAD!), and I was totally blown away by it. There are green lights from the station to the first tunnel (tunnel 1 is still dark), there are white and green lights in tunnel 2, lift one has green, red, and violet lights, the ruins have amber lights coming up from under the track, and tunnel 3 has multitudes upon multitudes of red lights. Tunnel 4 had more in store. Upon entering the tunnel, you find white lights beaming down from the ceiling, illuminating the tiki masks that have not been visible for years (without looking specifically for them). You round the curve and engage in the lift sequence. The tunnel was very bright, except for a row of tiki men not lit. Bubba even had his eyes on before we could see him, rather than turning them on awkwardly in plain sight. His lava drippy-downy thing was even synchronized with the first car! When you drop down the minuscule descent, you notice a sequence of amber, red, and green lights illuminating the "rock" walls from below. Once you enter the dead track in the tunnel, you notice the fast-paced sequence of lights changing gradually to reds and greens. Adventure Express is a great ride during the day, but at night is when it shows its true colors. Definitely check out this great ride at night. PS: Flight of Fear has had numerous changes, as well. The outside saucer lights are exactly like 2011, the spinning light above hangar entry has been fixed, and there are a lot more lights in the bowl.

How can Planet Snoopy stay the World's Best Kid's area?
TheCrypt replied to SonofBaconator's topic in Kings Island
They have a Cuddle Up? That's so cool! Um. What's a Cuddle Up? -
I think what radioriders meant is is the clip a poke at a movie? Think of the British Invasion prelude with the "Queen of England".

How is it that the Flags appear to have a greater cap ex than say the Fair? It appears to be that a couple parks get a big coaster, then all the other parks get mid-sized additions. Why can't Cedar Fair do that? Unless SIX actually has a larger cap ex than FUN...
-
I should rephrase the question-- who owned the other part of CW? Did Taft still operate that part or was Canada's Wonderland under 2 managements?
-
Well, that's interesting. What does Terpy mean when he says Taft didn't own all of CW?
-
It turned into a chain once Kings Dominion and Canada's Wonderland were built.
-
I think the point Diamondback96 was trying to make is that some huge company always ran Kings Island. Yes, Taft ran Kings Island and was based in Cincinnati, but they still ran other parks across North America. Another example: Paramount's headquarters were in Charlotte, but Paramount ran 4 other parks, too.

They should have fired the guy who designed the Luminosity stage. I would rather the big screen than that scaffolding-monstrosity of an eye sore.
-
I would hate to be Don, dealing with the Facebook crowd. Poor Don.
-
One would think BB1's favorite ride was in Boomerang Bay.

2008...

Works fine for me. EDIT: Got it for ya, Terp.

As we all know, Kings Island got the 40th Anniversary logo courtesty of Cedar Fair. Well, typical Cedar Fair, they appear to be cloning this to Worlds of Fun for their upcoming 40th, too. http://midwestinfoguide.com/ace/coastermayhem/2012/20.jpg I'm a little upset by this. It is virtually the same logo as ours (switch out a couple rides and the color scheme), plus it loses our special-ness of having a unique logo (if only for 1 year). What do you all think?
-
Never. I could ride coasters all day, although that may be due to a smaller height/younger age or something.
-
I voted for Iron Rattler. That coaster looks great. However, if it was for certain Flying Turns would open next year, my vote would totally go for Flying Turns. It's a family coaster with speed, it's unique, it's wooden, what's not to like about it?
-
Oh, it was on a Facebook post by them, the most recent one about it. Ah. Thank you. I do not go on Facebook, so that is why I was out of the loop. Thanks.
-
The reverse launch, to me, is pointless and kills the pacing of the ride.
-
Maybe I'm missing it. All I see is this:
-
I feel like Cedar Fair will be the secluded chain that continues to lose customers to Six Flags. I know someone who likes corn has done just that. Six Flags' additions look pretty well rounded. It's like a bell curve in the fact that many are good but there are some that are a little better / worse (and then theirs the outliers). Iron Rattler looks amazing (appears much better than Outlaw Run IMO), and Full Throttle looks interesting. Another reason why I need to get out West / South. I hope Cedar Fair impresses us in the coming years.

Many bash on Millennium Force for not being very intense, and I get that (and agree, too), but do keep in mind that this was a prototype, and prototypes rarely are better than other models. See B&M standups--Georgia Scorcher seems to have taken the best of all the previous standups and pack it in to a small, fun coaster. Giant TopSpins--Need I say more? Giant Frisbees--Again, should I say more?

Isn't the opening night for 2013 a little far away?
