2012 Halloween Haunt Lineup Announced!
TheCrypt replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
FanofFirehawk, if you're talking about the cave and expedition ruins, they could easily slap a new story on them and reuse the props. You walk into a cave, the home of wax figurines and sideshow oddities. You look around yourself, waiting until it is your turn to see the excitement for yourself. Look around, darkness. It is apparent the cave has seen better days. Cobwebs are everywhere, strung around the now-visible support beams supporting the cracking, structurally unstable cavern ceiling. You even find broken wax moldings and torture devices scattered around the base of the walls, surrounded by rubble, lit by an eerie red glow. You enter an open area, flanked on both sides by aged, daunting wax figurines. At the head of the room, you find a partially boarded up wall, ripped open from the inside. Once past the boarded wall, you come face to face with Madame Fatale herself, welcoming you to her Cavern of Terror. She explains the backstory of how she came in to the business, and she sends you on your way. Now, that was a bit over explanitory, but my point is, with a few minor prop switchouts, you can in essence utilize the same theatrical props. -
2012 Halloween Haunt Lineup Announced!
TheCrypt replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
That's implying the indoor queue will be used AS a queue and not actually part of the attraction itself. I don't really believe they'll squander what is essentially the best scenic detail ever created at the park for a haunted house by using it as a queue line. I doubt Cedar Fair will waste queue space, especially with the draw Halloween Haunt brings. I expect them to use all the available queues. Plus, what exactly would you use the narrow corridor that holds the line for anyways? I believe everything will take place in the former ride chamber. I really do hope Cedar Fair will be able to reuse the lighting from The Crypt. You can even loop the same program used in 2011! Having an open-air Haunt in a dark building with sporadic flashing lights overhead, all the while creating eerie shadows? Count me in! -
I don't think riding a coaster twice in a row counts as "marathoning"...

All roller coasters... wobble!

Viking Fury does not operate, as Cut Throat Cove (a pirate-themed Haunt) utilizes the exit of VF for its queue. Flight Deck operates, but the enterance is hard to find. Club Blood, a club atmosphere Haunt, takes up some of the beginning queues. To access Flight Deck, you must walk down the exit and enter the line at the halfway point. They post a sign and open a path to use.

2012 Halloween Haunt Lineup Announced!

^Tombstone does not have any kind of turnstiles, so that is a main reason it congests the midways (just a guess). This is not a problem with The Crypt. Keep in mind that The Crypt's former queue has an extensive indoor queue, as well as 2 long switchbacks outside the cave enterance. Granted, it will not swallow up all Saturday night lines, but it should help considerably. -
Hah, I haven't looked the ride over either. I have just been in the front, around the station, and sitting at a standstill on the brake run so much, I think I would have noticed pusher wheels. To me, the chain speed is the same it always was. Is it me, or do others also love hearing the brakes open and close as well as the mechanical hum of the giant lift gear speeding up and slowing down?
-
^Well that's not necessarily the Haunt timeframe, no?
-
^King Cobra? Since you are a former employee of Kings Island, you should know that there are no pusher wheels on Flight Deck. In addition, the claim about blocking and Flight Deck's chain is correct.

Theme and mazes. The themes make the mazes.

I sure hope they keep the 2011 queue intact! Best themed Cedar Fair queue I've ever seen. Kjkjkj, what didn't you like about Wolf Pack? The 2011 Wolf Pack was lightyears beyond the 2010 version. I was blown away, and it actually gained my favorite Haunt of the season. Cornstalkers was a pretty good Haunt in Tower Gardens, but it's nothing to rave about, either. By the way, how do you pronounce "Fatale"?

I think the easiest way to meet up would be to exchange phone numbers via PM and text/call everyone in park to meet up. That's the way I've done it in the past, and it's been easy.

So on Son of Beast's gigantic drop, nobody would come flying out? On Vortex with the hang time in the corkscrews and ejector air, everyone would not fly out?
-
Surprised they didn't ban you.... I didn't go through Mysteria last year, but if Don means what he says, I look forward to it. Wait. Doesn't a wise poster say "Watch what they do, not what they say."?

A simple like cannot express the gratitude for putting this together, Dave. He looked so happy, jolly, and carefree in each photo, even when he was diagnosed. Thank you so much for putting this together. While we may mourn the loss (and that is quite alright!), also be glad each and every one of you got the chance to know him, whether it be through his posts or personally. He obviously touched many lives in such a positive way. As an astronomy teacher once said, "The biggest and brightest stars die the fastest."

BOGO at Sam's!

Buying in bulk makes the overall cost less: see Italian Jobs, WindSeekers, and more. Although I'm not sure if price has anything to do with the similar additions.

KI PTR 9/03/12: My 100th ride on Vortex!
TheCrypt replied to VortexBFForever's topic in Trip Reports
When the ride op asked what deceased ride queue was still standing, you should have answered quite curtly with "The Bat!" So glad you had a great time at the park, and congrats! I look forward to part 2. -
"When orange comes to a complete stop, I'll release your lapbars and you can exit towards The Racer. Thank you for riding Shake, Rattle & Roll and enjoy your day at Kings Island." *orange still spinning* "Any day, now, orange." .... "Orange! Stop spinning!" ... "Yes! Now that orange has stopped spinning, I can let you go."

Sir, we are sorry to inform you, but this is not a flats thread, this is a coaster thread. Honestly, who cares?

The Crypt's hang time, Drop Tower's--well, drop, Adventure Express' tight lateral-filled turns and little pops of Arrow airtime, Son of Beast's first drop, Flight of Fear's 2 half, Firehawk loop, and last but certainly not least: The Monster's unpredictable rides.

Club Blood doesn't appeal to me. It wasn't scary, more raunchy. And rather boring, may I add. It didn't do anything for me. As for Urgent Scare, I went through it last season as well, and I feel it was very hurt by the loss of the outdoor portion. To me, all it was was a very lost hospital, not an infected psycho town. I also am very excited about Madame Fatale's Cavern of Terror. They may not be able to reuse the skeletons, but they could replace them with wax figurines and / or scareactors (I'm thinking the queue portion right before the antechamber) and simultaneously utilizing all of the lighting fixtures we got in 2011. If done right, this will be my favorite for a long time (not just for the fact that it's in The Crypt's former building!).

I wish they would retire Club Blood and Urgent Scare (just to put it out of its misery). Jdawg, the map shows that Blood Drums will apparently be underneath and/or around the Action Zone water tower. Me being a drummer myself, I am anxiously looking forward to this show!
