  1. Fun Fact: The Carowinds' old antique cars used to run alongside their old train ride.
  2. Here's the way I see it, I consider Cedar Point and Kings Island the top 2 in the chain as a whole and I'm not the only one- there's a couple of online polls that rank Kings Island as the second best Cedar Fair park overall. A rough comparison but I see Cedar Point as the Magic Mountain of the chain while Kings Island is Great Adventure.
  3. Over the summer while I was interning at Cedar Point, a coworker and I were discussing the chain and the different additions to each park. When we were discussing Kings Island, he said that it has the potential to become a flagship park, mainly due to its high attendance, its size, and other factors. I was skeptical for the longest time until I thought, "could he be on to something?" From a business standpoint would it make sense to invest into making Kings Island a flagship park? Would its abundance of land, close proximity to a major city and highway, and other factors make it a good candidate? This is all hypothetical of course but I'd like to hear your thoughts and opinions before I share my opinion.
  4. Its along a midway where people can hop from one flat to the other; plus it adds to the carnival atmosphere.
  5. Hopefully it'll flash different LED colors throughout the months, especially during sporting events across the river. Whenever the Seahwaks play in prime time, they always have their wheel lit up blue and green.
  6. Quick question someone might be able to answer- Why is Canada's Wonderland the "Cedar Point" of flat rides? Is Wonderland the park that they test the popularity of newer flat ride models to get gp feedback? Is it because of the coaster line up? I never understood because parks like KI, Carowinds, and others could use some Canada's Wonderland styled flats in their line up. I'm not complaining of the lack of flat installations but why have we been getting coasters and no huge flats like Soaring Timbers, Lumberjack, and so on at all?
  7. Agreed, even years later with the addition of two major coasters that path isn't used as much as people would think it is. The Les Taxis side was closer to a major midway that had a lot of thrill rides within close proximity to one another.
  8. I'd love to see "advertisements" while you drive along like little easter eggs and such.
  9. @OTTER9919 those posters were not intended to draw any speculation for 2019. Like I said, people who thought those posters had ANYTHING to do with KI in 2019 are fools who don't know anything about the industry.
  10. I'm 99.99% sure it'll stay on the right side of The Racer (red side) the entire time. I highly doubt they'd go on the other side because of the maintenance road.
  11. Give it a name and a location (My own edit)
  12. That part of the park was always dead in my opinion and wasted a ton of potential space. I'm happy they're finally doing something with that as well as taking care of the Flight Commander pad that was just sitting there. It would have been, "uncomfortable" if they decided to keep the pad and add a new flat ride there, especially considering what happened back in 1991. I've asked this question on the Haunt 2018 thread, but do you guys think Killmart will be gone after this year or do you think the cars will coexist with the current building?
  13. We've seen the return of The Bat, Eagles (sort of), Winterfest, and now the Antique Cars. What other attractions do you think Kings Island should bring back in some form or another? It could be anything from the Taft era, to old fearfest attractions- anything you can think of that would benefit the park! For me I think Der Spinnen Keggers would be awesome as well as Kenton's Cove, (in the current form of Congo Falls).
  14. I think its because there are better mine trains out there like Thunder Mountain, Adventure Express, Expedition Everest, and so on. CCMR is mediocre at best which is saying a lot for a Cedar Point coaster
  15. It would basically have to climb the same height as the initial drop to break the tallest inversion record
  16. @purdude86 Can we please see a return of route 666 with the antique cars? I kinda wished we'd see more path mazes such as Worksite or the old Cornstalkers. It would be awesome if the path to The Bat was a scare zone or a maze since its already secluded and wouldn't need to immediately be cleaned up since it isn't used for Winterfest.
  17. It would be ill advised to "boo" the VP/GM of Cedar Point.
  18. I actually attended an event for interns this summer when I co-oped at Cedar Point where we got to meet Cedar Point executives. When we were able to ask questions I asked the woman who supervises rides, whose name escapes me, if the relationship between Cedar Fair and Intamin has changed due to downtime and the Shoot the Rapids incident. She said, and this isn't word for word, that Intamin got Cedar Point where it is today with rides like Millennium Force, Top Thrill Dragster, and Maverick- however the cost of operating those rides has gone up 53% in the last couple of years. Cedar Point, and to an extension- Cedar Fair, wants to provide guests with fun and thrilling rides while being able to have safe and affordable operations. In a conversation with Jason McClure, he said that the company would continue to work with B&M for a while because of their excellent track record. Just food for thought. Please don't make this thread a manufacturer bash
  19. Old_Bearcat, boddaH1994 and I have found a document about a future project concering the return of a certain swiss coaster manufacturer in 2020. You can see it on the giga speculation thread if you wanna speculate future stuff! I know people were hoping for a Racer overhaul but remember that parks usually don't announce that stuff. Gravity Group did some work on the late Rebel Yell at Kings Dominion and the park didn't make any special announcement for it. So the possibility of Racer getting some work done isn't dead. Back to the subject, I'm wondering if we'll see and Ginkgo trees while riding the cars?
  20. I'm curious if this will be Killmart's last year due to the Antique Cars or if they'll coexist right next to each other.
