It is, but that doesn't dictate its ride decision. Fury 325 was a good start but they need a much better lineup than just three large B&Ms. The rest of their lineup is mediocre in my opinion. The park needs more standout rides that you can't really find at other parks. There's potential for growth but they have a long way to go. Not to mention that the KI sits along a major highway and pulls from Kentucky, and Indiana as well as Ohio. Like

That's basically an insult to all of us who like GCI, and to an extent the chain. Do you sit in on the park's executive meetings? GCIs don't disappoint. Cedar Fair wouldn't be working with them if they did. Funny because Kings Island is one of the largest parks in the chain and yet we have one. If you don't have anything positive or constructive to contribute to the discussion then why say anything? Instead you bash @IndyGuy4KI for having an opinion.

I think the company needs an overhaul of their communication staff entirely. As a communication major myself, sometimes being blatantly honest does more harm that good. Saying that accidents are inevitable is a very poor choice of words to say as a rides manufacturer. Saying that accidents can happen isn't necessarily inaccurate, however its unsettling; especially when said manufacturer has an astounding list of accidents and malfunctions under their belt. 1984, The Edge- Six Flags Great America- Injuries 1991, Flight Commander- Kings Island- Death 1999, Ride of Steel- Six Flags Darien Lake- Injury 1999, Drop Zone: Stunt Tower- California's Great America- Death 2001, Perilous Plunge- Knott's Berry Farm- Death 2004, Hydro- Oakwood Leisure Park- Death 2004, Superman: Ride of Steel- Six Flags New England- Death 2004, Top Thrill Dragster- Cedar Point- Injuries 2007, Superman: Tower of Power- Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom- Injury 2009, Xcelerator- Knott's Berry Farm- Injuries 2010, Expedition GeForce- Holiday Park- Injuries 2011, Ride of Steel- Six Flags America- Death 2012, La Tour Eiffel- Hopi Hari- Death 2013, Shoot the Rapids- Cedar Point- Injuries 2014, Inferno- Terra MÃtica- Death 2017, Splash Canyon- Drayton Manor Theme Park- Death

Even with the addition of Steel Vengeance, it's not wrong to speculate the next type of coaster that Cedar Point might add. Depending on when other parks add their coasters, I think the park will get a B&M Flyer. There's been speculation from some Cedar Point fans that the park would get a flyer because this would continue the trend of B&M additions- GateKeeper (2013), Rougarou (2015), Valravn (2016). Also, there aren't that many B&M flyers out there, compared to other models at least, so the park could easily build one and make it the superior model. If not a flyer I could see the park invest in a dark ride coaster like Wonder Mountain's Guardian. I know there's rumors of the park going over 500ft but I think that's a long ways off.

Maneater isn't bad..

Agreed. The only reason why I created this thread is because its highly likely that the park will receive a giga in the future. Most assumptions are based off of what Cedar Fair has done in the past, but nothing is set and stone. There's no concrete evidence that would confirm that KI is actually getting a giga, but it isn't wrong it speculate. It is wrong, however, to say that things are already in motion when nothing has even shown up i.e, blueprints, trademarks, land clearings, etc. People think a giga is coming because we've seen them built at Kings Dominion, Canada's Wonderland, and Carowinds. Don acknowledges how much enthusiasts want a giga, but him mentioning it once, along with many other rides, doesn't really mean anything.

I agree 100% with the points you made. I loved the ride but felt like the shed was a poor finale. The ride and the theme are awesome, but the way they executed the actual theming could have been done a better in my opinion. On a more positive note, at least they've been adding on to the theming with props in the station and signs for Winterfest. Lets just hope that some more theming will be added in future seasons.

I think my biggest issue is that it fell short of expectations. I honestly never expected a drop track, a launch, or a secret track like other's did. I expected some type of animation like spinning saw blades, lumber mill sounds or at least an animatronic tree. Tv screens and a radio felt kinda weak for me.

"Biggest thing we've gotten to actual proof" meaning those 4 letters are the closest thing the park has done to tease a giga. Until new information comes up, we really don't have anything new to talk about that hasn't already been discussed 100 times before.
-
Well a lot of people have been discussing the same topics for months now and the biggest thing we've gotten to actual proof is letters in the snow. I don't mind talking about other parks on this thread, as long as there's no new speculation to talk about. Manufacturers, opening season, and placement have been the main points of this thread and we haven't really gotten anything else to really discuss at the moment.

I'm not trying to start a religious or political argument but look at the facts: Behemoth, Leviathan, and Ziz are the big three when it comes to monsters of their respective mythology. Behemoth- Monster of the land Leviathan- Monster of the water Ziz- Monster of the sky https://happychupacabra.deviantart.com/art/Leviathan-Ziz-and-Behemoth-295684988 The three monsters are part of mythology, it just happens that this mythology pulls from Jewish faith. The rides were not built to promote the faith of Judaism. The park could easily just say that Ziz is a "Monster of the Sky" or say "Behemoth, Leviathan, and Ziz are coasters inspired by three monsters of legend." A lot of rides and even parks are inspired by mythology- Mt. Olympus in Wisconsin and Hydra the Revenge at Dorney Park are heavily inspired by Greek mythology, Montu at BGT is named after the Egyptian god of war, Liseberg in Sweden has a lot of rides inspired by Norse mythology, Banshee was inspired heavily by Irish mythology, Rougarou was inspired by French mythology, I could go on and on.

Defunctland - Tomb Raider: The Ride

I honestly like Cedar Fair's take on theming over Paramount's. IMO, Cedar Fair could never handle the level of theming Paramount initially put into their attractions. Paramount themed their rides to specific movies, with the exception of a few, which IMO isn't really original; you could compare that to Six Flags and how they theme most of their rides to DC. More recently, Cedar Fair has been theming their rides to folklore, mythology, and fictional characters which gives them more creative power when making a ride. I'm not going to deny that Paramount gave us great theming like what you see on Flight of Fear and Tomb Raider, but that's about all they did. During the Paramount years, a lot of rides like Adventure Express, Top Gun, and even the KI&MVRR had seen a decline in theming upkeep. Cedar Fair looks like its trying to do some good when it comes to theming their rides. I could honestly see Kings Island doing some work on Adventure Express in the coming years and restoring or overhauling the theming that has been neglected from earlier years. -
I like how Leviathan fits in with the Jewish mythological theme tying in with Behemoth and Ziz; yes I highly believe that CW's new coaster will be named "Ziz". Fury 325 is themed to the Carolinas as it gives an indirect nod to the Charlotte hornets. The more recent coaster's that have came to KI have been themed to mysticism, spirits, and the unknown so I'd like to see that trend continued on with a giga. Even giving a giga a mysterious, extraterrestrial theme would fit well.

Mystic Timbers was a well received ride by enthusiasts and the gp alike. The shed, however, has gotten mixed reviews from both parties. With all things considered, would you want to see some changes made to the shed or would you like to leave it how it is?

Defunctland - Tomb Raider: The Ride

You can really see the transition from a heavily themed ride with a lot of charm and character to something that wasn't appreciated as much in later years. -
FC Cincinnati: The Ride
-
Nevertheless, Kings Island has consistently been one of the top visited seasonal parks in North America along with Cedar Point and Canada's Wonderland. The park has dominated the greater Cincinnati area for decades so I wouldn't put it past them to get a giga. Also consider the growing competition from Kentucky Kingdom as they have the ability to take a part of the Kentucky market away from Kings Island; especially with that hyper that's been rumored...
-
Wow hi. First off I've never had the privilege to ride a giga, yet, so I cannot say that I've ridden a giga with either floater or ejector air. However povs, analyses, other peoples experiences, and general ride stats are how I talk about coasters I haven't had the chance to ride yet. I merely believe that given the differences between how a hyper is made vs a giga- a giga WOULD be classified to have more ejector air than floater air. Since gigas are built for speed and are generally built lower to the ground, you'd expect to see more ejector than floater.
-
Besides, I think a lot of confusion comes from the fact that B&M doesn't call Leviathan and Fury 325 "gigas" but rather classifies them as hyper coasters. IMO, if it is 300ft or higher and lower than 400ft its a giga- no matter what manufacturer. Plus, gigas are traditionally designed different than most hypers, with the exception of Steel Dragon 2000. Gigas are more low to the ground and retain a fairly consistent speed from start to finish where as most hypers lose their speed going from hill to hill. With that in mind, Gigas have most twists and turns focusing more on ejector airtime where hypers are more traditionally floater airtime. The only similarity between a giga and a hyper is the massive drop.
