  1. Adventureland is right in Midwestern Six Flags and Cedar Fair territory with SFGA, SFSTL, Frontier City, Valleyfair, and Worlds of Fun not being too far away. I'd love to see the data when the season is over. I wonder how many small parks like them could benefit from a buyout, especially during times like these. Upon further research Adventureland almost sits perfectly between Worlds of Fun and Valleyfair by around 3 hours give or take. Also all parks reside right by I-35 so that would be the main connecting highway which could be a good way to sell platinum passes.
  2. I think they also might benefit from sticking to just water parks for now. If they work their way into warmer climates by acquiring water parks, they could maybe add some amusement rides in as well.
  3. I think we needed our water park to he included to give guests more bang for their buck. I don't think the numbers would favor seperate admission given its placement. Heck as mentioned earlier, Worlds of Fun included Oceans of Fun in their park admission back in 2013. @Pagoda Gift Shop @coaster sally I think the name change was just too easy not to do. Its included in park admission so I'm assuming they didn't want to go overboard with rebranding. I'd still like some updates though, especially since I mentioned it would be a smart move following the pandemic.
  4. That would be awesome as well. As I stated earlier though, I don't think we need one. We already have a solid lineup at the moment and our next coaster should focus on a lot of inversions. After that, coaster-wise, I think we should get another family type of coaster like a spinner, wild mouse, or something along those lines. Maybe even a 50ft gravity group woodie in Planet Snoopy would be welcomed
  5. @Benjamin22 supplied this the other day. Yes the data was 5 years ago but it still holds up I think. Its crazy to see Dorney surpass Kings Dominion when they have to contend with far more superior parks like Hershey and Great Adventure where Kings Dominion only has to content with Busch Gardens Williamsburg. I assume its just population at that point. I'd love to see how that proposed GG shuttle coaster would help that park out. I've been saying for years that Dorney should be getting more love than it does. @VekomaRulz can attest to that.
  6. I don't mean to sound like a downer but I don't see us getting a gigantic RMC anytime within the next decade. We really don't need one. What we need is a 6+ inversion coaster. Would I love an RMC? Yes, but its not necessary. Look how long it took us to get a giga. I think if we ever got anything from RMC it would be something like Outlaw Run from Silver Dollar City- nothing huge like Steel Vengeance, Wildfire, Goliath, etc.
  7. I don't think CF would give up Canada's Wonderland so quickly. This is all just a result of Covid-19. Heck the Toronto Blue Jays aren't even permitted to play in Canada at the moment. Cancelling all these events across the chain are a result of understaffed parks that have to abide by Covid-19 protocols. There isn't one chain that's not being negatively affected by this virus. Whether you agree with the response the globe has had to this or not, nothing is going to be entirely certain until there's a vaccine ready.
  8. Can Son of Beast remain buried? The only thing people still really praise it for are the stats it had. The ride experience was painful and sent numerous people to the hospital. The name itself triggers old memories from people that are not always pleasant. Can't there be an original ride name? No "Son of Beast 2.0", "The Beast Unleashed", "Son if Beast Returns" etc. Lets just remember SOB for what it was, an infamous ride that had a dull layout with some impressive stats. It was a wakeup call to the industry that the world wasn't ready for 200ft wooden coasters.
  9. I think with the parks losing a substantial amount of revenue, I think its likely that we'll see more water park additions across the whole chain in the future
  10. I initially had the same thought. It seems they wanted it to fit in a pretty tight space which I think it pretty unique in it of itself. It could've been lower to the ground but I feel like they didn't want to take up anymore land than they had to. Maybe I'm wrong. Nevertheless its unique and different that Fury and Leviathan!
  11. Anyone wish Kings Island properly celebrated Oktoberfest? We have a whole section dedicated to it to my knowledge, the park hasn't celebrated it (I was born in the late 90s so maybe they did before I was born) It would be cool to hear Bavarian music, strudels, beer, and such. Cincinnati is thick with German heritage so I think it could work. The one thing that I can figure why they don't do it is because Cincinnati hosts the 2nd largest Oktoberfest in the world so they might not want to compete in that respect. Thoughts?
  12. Herschend operates the Newport Aquarium so that could be a good cross promotion if they owned KK. They might not be able to put them on the level of Dollywood and Silver Dollar City but maybe they could be able to give them more Dollywood and Silver Dollar City type rides.
  13. I wonder how many lower tier Cedar Fair parks would benefit from being owned by a different company or having independent ownership. Michigan's Adventure got a ton of coasters in the late 80s through the 90s before Cedar Fair purchased them. Also I know its out there somewhere but I want to know how much revenue their smaller parks bring in and if its worth it to keep them or sell some of them to focus more on their larger parks.
  14. Its what they do. Whenever you say something that they don't agree with, they'll react all confused and not contribute. When they do, they'll make a one or two sentences argument "B&M is boring." "Intamin is the past, present, & future." Try not to get too annoyed with it, they've been doing it for months. Don't let them discourage you from posting your opinions.
  15. I think if nothing is coming in a while, I would want to see grass planted. Having that land look dry and bare would be an eyesore for anyone who walks past or is in the Eiffel Tower. I talked earlier about widening/reworking the path between Coney Mall and Rivertown. I had an idea but I don't know how feasible it would be. Could the park relocate BLSC's entrance to somewhere near its switchbacks in the bottom of the picture? You all ready see where the old Antique Car entrance is next to the switchbacks so that could make a suitable entrance I think. I always see people cutting through from Rivertown anyway. The 3 point challenge could be relocated and the plaza could get demolished and reworked into a larger pathway that could maybe accommodate a flat ride or just extra space. Notice the trees in the picture between the arcade and The Beast, could that be used as an entrance for a new ride? Sure it might be tight but its still a possibility.
  16. That's still impressive though. Even though the polls are open to the public and people can vote multiple times, its still nice to know where we stand in the industry. Silver Dollar City, Cedar Point, and Busch Gardens Williamsburg are great parks so coming in 4th behind all of them says a lot about what people think of our park. Being in the top 5 is something to be proud of!
  17. The old SCS parking lot was converted to deluxe rv sites that debuted in 2018 and it was a huge success. When I worked for LHP, they were still talking about what exactly they wanted to do with that land. I think ultimately it was going to be used to create more sites but I'm sure they wanted to keep their options open at the time. An idea that was brough up was the possibly of water activities like what they had at Breakers but to my knowledge that was merely brainstorming. Fun fact: that space was used for their firework shows (not 4th of July) so it sounded like bombs going off if you stayed at the campground. You had a killer view though!
  18. As someone who's worked at Cedar Point before, the only operational issues I've noticed are staffing, the fact that they're landlocked, and their Intamins. A chunk of their employees aren't from the immediate area which can be an issue from an operations standpoint. Furthermore, the fact that they're on a peninsula makes it difficult to get everyone in the park during busy times like memorial day weekend, 4th of July, Halloweekends, etc. Their causeway can only hold so many cars which I can understand is an issue. They don't have the land that KI has which is problematic but its not like they can just build more land. Its unfortunate but that's how it is. In response to their rides being down, they do have 5 Intamins which are known for downtime. Unfortunately those are the rides that people are most eager to ride so it does create a lot of issues when they have to go down for maintenance. This is why you see the park getting more B&Ms to fill those gaps if the Intamins can't operate. Cedar Point is one of those parks that you have to stay for more than one day to fully enjoy. Additionally depending on when you go more or less defines your experience. For example, I'd wouldn't be going on a holiday, holiday weekend, or just a weekend in general. If you go on a Tuesday/Wednesday, Wednesday/Thursday, or Thursday/Friday you're much better off. I think every park has their operational issues and sometimes people tend to notice things more when they go to a park like Cedar Point where they expect things to run smoother.
  19. I don't see how that makes sense... So by your logic, KI just has to get the biggest thing they can to fill that spot? I can think of several large rides that I don't want going into that spot that could be available. Can't the largest available ride also be one that best suits our coaster collection? If I'm the park and I'm going to spend millions of dollars on a coaster, I'm going to make sure it fits in well with the other rides around the park. Many people do. The park has a knack for breaking length records in some degree. We currently have more coasters that exceed a mile in length than any other park in the chain. This is a Kings Island fansite, if you don't have anything nice to say on here then why do you post? Poorly managed? How so? The park is recognized globally as one of the best parks in the world. Steel Vengeance is the only thing at CP? So Millennium Force, Maverick, Top Thrill Dragster, GateKeeper, and Valravn aren't thrilling enough?
  20. As a KI enthusiast, I don't think I'm demanding. Do I want the park to get record breakers, be able to go on behind the scenes tours, and get perks? Of course I do, who wouldn't want that? Do I expect to get these things because I have a gold pass and visit the park constantly? Of course not. I think for the most part we're good people, but I cannot deny that there are those out there who extremely sway one way or another. There are those who think we need to completely praise everything the park does, that every addition is THE best in the world, the park can do no wrong, and that people shouldn't think otherwise. Then there are those who do nothing but criticize the park and everything they do. We get a giga, its not big enough. We get a GCI- why wasn't it an RMC? Why do we keep getting B&Ms? Antique Cars?- I thought Son of Beast was coming back. The povs aren't good enough. The list goes on... I think most of us are in the middle. Yes Kings Island is a great park with great rides. Do they deserve to be ridiculed for not appealing to every enthusiast's wants and desires? No. Are we supposed to not be critical whenever the park does something? Again no. I'm grateful for what we've gotten and how the park is. Do I want some things to be different? Yes, but everyone has their own opinion and reasons why. I believe businesses need some criticism to improve and adapt. With that said though, I think some people take this concept to heart and make it a point to only see the negatives of things. We're such a historic park that revitalized the country's love of coasters, brought a lot of 1sts to the industry, and arguably broke the mold in a lot of ways- cut the park a break. In conclusion, I think those who are extremely loyal need to tone it down a notch and those who are extremely critical need to lighten up a bit. These are the people that give KI enthusiasts a bad name.
  21. The fact that the antique cars cut into the Coney Mall midway should be some proof that they wouldn't build another coaster station in that area. Son of Beast's station was built elevated over a valley so I don't see why it couldn't be done again. I think the midway between Coney Mall and Rivertown could be reworked to allow for a coaster The BLSC plaza is huge and takes up a ton of space so I could see them sacrificing that space for a modified midway.
