  1. That's true but I'd personally remove Vortex to allow for more space
  2. Nighthawk/Vortex and Flightdeck/Timewarp are two sets of coasters that I personally would like to see removed in favor of a single better ride. Kill two old birds with one modern stone. Nighthawk/Vortex could be replaced with a wing, dive, or compact GCI Flightdeck/Timewarp could be replaced with a modern invert
  3. I remember back when people thought we'd get something like Wonder Mountain's Guardian and I'm kinda happy that wasn't the case
  4. I'm no engineer, doctor, or physicist so I may be wrong but it seems like the less inversions the better. The togos each featured 1 inversion where as the B&Ms usually featured an average of 4/5. Some of the early B&M stand-ups were built with fewer inversions but I still think they were built with inversions in mind as opposed to factoring how those forces would impact the riders. I always figured the smaller stand-ups with less inversions were more well received because they didn't exert as much force on the riders
  5. 350ft tall 101 mph 7,800ft of track Oh yeah that sounds pretty dull
  6. I think Busch Gardens Tampa should get a B&M giga like this concept @DustinTheNow made not too long ago Much like how Millennium Force and Fury 325 were meant to attract more people to their respective parks, I think adding a huge B&M giga would do the park some good. They already have an impressive coaster collection and Iron Gwazi shows that they can make Busch Gardens can be a dominating force in the southern market.
  7. I'd love a spinner but something more on par with Sierra Sidewinder where its more compact and has more rapid spins. Not that I wouldn't welcome something like Time Traveler because it does look like a super fun ride!
  8. This park had always been labelled as the one that doesn't have a lot of good supporting coasters. There's always enthusiasts who think coasters like Flight Deck, Time Warp, Dragon Fire, Minebuster, and Wild Beast should be removed. I know there's a Canadian law that prevents companies from other countries to come in and do work (keeping jobs in Canada eh) so GCI and RMC couldn't come in and work on their woodies- @MisterSG1 is that correct? I think a launched coaster over their White Water Canyon would be nice. If they wanted to continue their trend of adding B&Ms they could get a wing. Heck they could kill two birds with one stone and get a launched wing like Thunderbird. If not they could always go for a Mack.
  9. That's my purse! I don't know you!
  10. As much as I love Arrow Mine trains, a GCI is always a welcomed addition in my eyes. I think Wicked before TTD. Despite its downtime, expensiveness to run, and even Kinzel himself calling it a "dumb decision" TTD is one of the major draws to CP. Wicked Twister was meant to be filler anyway so I don't think the park would miss it as much as TTD. I'm curious, what do you think CP would do after removing TTD if that was the scenario?
  11. Normally I would agree that they should relocate it to a different park but the ball joints under the track would have to be addressed. It's pretty rough with the over shoulder restraints in my opinion. It's already 24 years old so I feel like if they moved it to another park it would only last for so long (not to mention assembling and disassembling might add additional wear and tear). Dominator was only 8 years old when it was relocated to Kings Dominion. Chang (a near clone of Mantis) was relocated when it was 14 years old. I think it would be wise to let it live out the rest of its life at Cedar Point. I daresay it would've been better to relocate it and convert it at a new park like Worlds of Fun where it could've operated for 20+ years. However with its conversion and rebrand they were able to market it as a new coaster and experiment with stand-up conversions that they later repeated with Patriot at CGA. Anyone know why Vortex at Carowinds was never converted?
  12. Updated this poll. Vortex had 23 votes putting it in 3rd place before I took it out. Currently the top 3 are Backlot Stunt Coaster, Invertigo, and Adventure Express
  13. I don't get the logic of removing Gemini. It has the highest capacity of any ride at the park and the wood structure can be maintained. The only reason to remove it would be if the track gets too old. The land isn't anything to write home about unless they chip away at some of the adjacent parking to accommodate more space. Magnum is another one I don't understand. Its surrounded by the water park so a replacement would have to virtually follow the same path. Besides, Magnum has that scaffolding style support structure which made it very narrow allowing for more water park space. If they went big and got say a 400ft tall B&M, they'd have to allow for the supports to jet out into the water park. It just seems like too much of a hassle to tear down and try and replace it vs just spending the money to keep it running. Rougarou on the other hand is a ride I could see them axing. There's nothing super unique about it and I think they could put something better in its place. I'm not saying it would be removed anytime soon but its always one of the coasters that comes to mind when a Cedar Point coaster removals discussion comes up.
  14. The majority of us are Cincinnatians or people who grew up in the greater Cincinnati region. We like what we like. You don't have to comment on every little thing.
  15. A weird request but with the loss of Firehawk I'd gladly take X-Flight at Six Flags Great America. Its not overwhelmingly big but still features 5 inversions and some pretty awesome near miss elements.
  16. Knott's has been upping the theming for a lot of their rides these past few years. It would be nice to see that practice extended to us. Before Paramount KI was really good at theming. Ironically when the movie company took over, the theming started to decrease in quality. Cedar Fair has been chipping away at Paramount's handy work and we're starting to see a lot of character return to the park (2019 was the best example of this). Adventure Express, as well as all of Oktoberfest, should get some love. The ride itself is turning 30 next season after all.
  17. I got my movies mixed up. I had RotLA in my mind for some reason
  18. Here's a really good picture of #552 when it operated at Kings Dominion. https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/steam-kings-dominion-continental-1825848621
  19. I believe the boilers are limited to how many hours they can operate a year which could be why they opt to not run them during Haunt in favor of Winterfest. A third locomotive could help disperse those hours up and allow for haunt operations to return if they ever needed it. I honestly think they need to bring the train back with how crazy Haunt gets every season. Cedar Point has 4 locomotives at their disposal which is awesome if one goes down for repairs. In Worlds of Fun's case, I'm sure having a second locomotive helps out a lot. Still it would be fun to see us acquire a 3rd locomotive, even if its temporary.
  20. I think mine trains in general have that unofficial tie to Indiana Jones. The whole runaway mine train concept isn't anything new but I think Raiders of the lost Ark ultimately made it popular. I don't know how you can have Adventure Express truly fit in with Oktoberfest without retheming either the ride or the section. Truth be told the ride doesn't currently display a tie to a specific region until you enter the final tunnel (except for the snake in the 2nd tunnel).
  21. We pull in over 3 million visitors annually. We need capacity
  22. Fun fact, they have the same Vekoma collection as Canada's Wonderland. I didn't know Herschend operated this park either. It seems like a cool park but they have animals which Cedar Fair doesn't really work with. If I'm Cedar Fair I'd try to look for parks that have a waterpark; a resort too if possible. I keep bringing up Adventureland because it could help the chain sell more platinum passes in the midwest while still collecting revenue from the park and the resort. I feel like people are more willing to buy platinum passes if they have more parks within a closer proximity to them. If I lived in Des Moines and found out I could go to Adventureland as well as Worlds of Fun and Valleyfair, I'd be a happy camper.
  23. Breaking records only works from a marketing standpoint. The more records your coaster breaks, the more marketable it becomes. I'll beat a dead horse and use my floorless example. Lets say Kings Island gets the world's tallest, fastest, and longest floorless coaster. The words "tallest" "fastest" and "longest" are easily marketable to the general public- which are the main target after all. Cedar Point excels at this because nearly every single coaster addition breaks some type of record therefore making them more marketable. For example, Valravn was built as the world's tallest, fastest, and longest dive coaster. When Yukon Striker came along, Valravn was simply remarketed as the tallest, fastest, and longest dive coaster in the USA. GateKeeper used to feature the world's tallest inversion and even after Steel Curtain came along to take that record away, GateKeeper still retained its respective wing coaster records. Some people might call it gimmicky but it works. I don't mean to contradict what I previously said about KI not looking to break records and instead opting for quality over quantity. I think its subjective to what the park wants. Cedar Point needs to add record breakers every few years because that's the legacy they've built and that's how they want to keep people coming in. Fortunately, or unfortunately depending on how you look at it, we don't need to focus on breaking records in order to bring in guests as its not crucial to our survival.
