  1. @BeastForever I think there were some good shows like what you mentioned. It just seems like the network as a whole has changed from when I remember it. For example all they do is air Teen Titans Go episodes non-stop. When I was younger we used to have cartoon Friday's where they would debut all the new cartoons on Friday night. It was something to look forward to as a kid and it was a great way to start the weekend. This was the Cartoon Network that I grew up with. They took the time to animate bumpers that made it look like the characters were alive and had their own world. They didn't have to do it but it just showed the effort they put into their products.
  2. Kings Island built dorms so they can have more employees, especially International Workers. International workers do not own cars let alone have American drivers licences. How do you expect them to get to work? You're not going to have them walk that whole way or expect them to carpool; the same goes for American employees who chose to leave their cars back home. Most colleges offer shuttles for their students because a good chunk of them live in dorms and aren't able to bring their cars. I'm not saying its confirmed that they are building a shuttle route but it doesn't seem out of the question. Not trying to sound rude or a know it all, I just don't understand why things that make sense are so quickly dismissed.
  3. Yes but this conversation concerns the dorms and the employees who live in them. Not every employee has a car- especially international workers who don't even have an American drivers license which is why they need a shuttle. I worked with a guy up at CP who lived in Cleveland. He didn't have a car so I would drive him back to the dorms so he wouldn't have to wait on a shuttle.
  4. But I'm talking about people who live in the dorms behind Great Wolf Lodge.
  5. I thought it was to the left of HR which is a very short walk from the main gate.
  6. But how exactly are KI employees blocked?
  7. How so? Cedar Point's employees can enter off the main gate.
  8. Nick, Cartoon Network, and even Disney used to have quality shows. You could argue Disney still does. Cartoon Network just got super lazy in my opinion. They used to have great shows like Foster's Home, Ed Edd n Eddy, KND, Camp Lazlo, and so much more. Its really sad how sloppy things have gotten.
  9. I think that's literally what they're aiming to do. Widen it to allow for two lanes. You don't build employee dorms without having a set path for shuttles to go back and forth. I seriously think people are looking too much into this
  10. Maybe he got more ooze? I've seen these shows with my younger siblings and only a few of them were good. I rewatched some old Nick shows I grew up with to see if they held up and they did. The writing was significantly better. I feel like the studios don't take as much time to invest in writing and delivering a quality product opting for bright colors and loud noises.
  11. Even when it was in its last season of 2009 IPs like Wild Thornberries, Rugrats, and even ones like Jimmy Neutron were slowly being forgotten. I have little ones in my family who never seen Danny Phantom, Hey Arnold, Avatar, and other classic Nick shows. If the Nickelodeon license was renewed, we'd still have Spongebob and The Fairly Odd Parents but you'd also have a ton of modern shows that aren't super familiar Whether you like them or not, the Peanuts are a timeless IP that is multigenerational. Most of the Nickelodeon shows we grew up with were products of their time much like how Yogi Bear and George Jetson were products of our parent's time.
  12. Decided to make this the unofficial Michigan's Adventure thread. I know people like to dog this park, often making fun of it for its lack of investments. The 90s were when they saw their most major investments. I think if Cedar Fair invested another thrill ride at this park, it would pay off more than people think. For the sake of this argument, lets say Cedar Fair has emerged from the pandemic and are in the financial position to continue with their goal to give something new to all their parks. They look at Michigan's Adventure and decide they want to invest 8 million dollars into a new roller coaster. Michigan's Adventure is thrilled and begins to look for coasters they could add to their park. Its worth noting that since Michigan's Adventure does receive a lot of big investments, this one will have to hold guests over for a fee years; that is unless they see a sudden spike in attendance. 3.) S&S 4d Freespin So lets start off with the least likely and work our way up. I'm starting this off with an S&S 4d freespin- the 3rd most likely choice. These coasters roughly cost $5 million dollars which would leave the park with some left over money. 4d freespins are unique and would certainly get the attention of park goers and would help boost attendance. Though there's another 4d freespin on the other side of Lake Michigan in Illinois, I think this would be a standout attraction for the park. The reason I out this at the least likely because this would be a pretty big jump in the thrill category. Not a lot of enthusiasts would travel to MI if they got a 4d freespin since there's a big chance they've already ridden one before. From a GP perspective, it might seem too extreme for the families who go to this park. 2.) RMC Iron Horse The second choice I have would be to RMC Wolverine Wildcat. This coaster would be up there budget wise but I think it would be worth it if they went over budget. It would certainly give MI something that most Cedar Fair parks don't even have. I could see enthusiasts making the trip to ride it as well as people from across the state. I think GP wise, it would be seen as an inverting coaster like Thunderhawk or Corkscrew. There's a fee arguments against why this wouldn't happen. First off, since 2018 there's been rumors circulating that Cedar Fair isn't super happy with RMC. Whether is is true or not can really only be proven if the chain decides to purchase another one. Secondly, the park might be more willing to have GCI come in and retrack their wooden coasters to preserve them. I'm not a MI expert so I don't know how much people love WWC but they could always to the Ghostrider route and give it a traditional GCI makeover. 1.) Gerstlauer Euro Fighter Finally we have my number one choice. What could possibly outrank an RMC? I'm thinking a Gerstlauer Euro Fighter. This specific model of coaster seems to do extremely well at smaller Parks like Michigan's Adventure. They're pretty affordable for the ride that they produce and I think Michigan's Adventure could get one in or around that $8 million dollar budget. The thing that really stands out about these coasters is their beyond vertical drops as well as their tight inversions. When I look at Tantrum at Darien Lake or Untamed at Canobie Lake, I often think "this would be perfect for Michigan's Adventure." Its something that would be entirely new and custom to the park. Now there were a couple other coaster types that I considered that didn't make the list: A GCI wooden coaster- Now a standard GCI would certainly fit in with the $8 million dollar budget that I gave the park, I don't think it would have as big of an impact as the other three I listed above. I think people would see it as just another wooden roller coaster. If the park didn't already have Shivering Timbers and WWC I would have included it. A family inverted coaster- this one I honestly thought about replacing the 4d free Spin but I'm glad I didn't. I don't know if Cedar Fair would work with vekoma even if it's on something as small as a family coaster (maybe I'm wrong). The fact that Thunderhawk doesn't have the new SLC trains suggests that they don't feel like working with them currently. So that leaves the B&M family coaster. Even though it one feature I need some inversions I think too many people would compare it to Thunderhawk (again I could be wrong). Also I feel like a family inverted coaster wouldn't be as big of a draw as the 3 coasters I picked. A spinning coaster- this wouldn't be anything super elaborate like time traveler. The park could get something from Gerstlauer that resembles something you'd find at a Six Flags park. This one honestly seemed like the dullest choice out of the six I had in mind. It wouldn't draw in a ton of people so for that reason I just chose to leave it out. Also I didn't pick anything launched because that could potentially cause downtime and maintenance issues What are your thoughts? Am is there some accuracy to this or am I way off?
  13. Part of it still existed up until the late 2000 https://twitter.com/KIHistory/status/1242519047058657282?s=20
  14. Remember when this video was released? This coaster was meant to shatter records records like you wouldn't believe. If its height wasn't enough, it was shown to feature beyond vertical drops and insane inversions. The structure itself was said to feature an observation tower as well. So what happened? I highly doubt it was because of lack of interest. Whenever I try to google this particular model, it keeps showing projects stalled.
  15. Build a hill over BLSC to enclose it to have it blend in. We won't have to see the thing anymore, we get a new dark ride, and you can even build a coaster on top. Its a win-win-win It would be like our version of Wonder Mountain: "Wonder Hill"
  16. I remember when I made a joke that DP could've gotten Firehawk and renamed it Eagle To be fair, the word "Eagle" is completely in the public domain so it would be cool for Dorney to get an emerald green coaster called "Eagle". Unless they go the Kennywood route and partner with the team.
  17. I'd like to see this take on a more traditional suspended coaster layout. Imagine The Bat but twice at tall, twice as long, and twice as fast
  18. Edit: didn't feel like dealing with the backlash
  19. I know Knott's is naturally better at theming because they kinda have to be. They're in the southern California/Hollywood market where they have to compete with Disney and Universal. Unfortunately here in the Midwest its not as necessary to have insane theming. I'm hoping Boo Blasters gets some work done like Knotts did to their dark ride. It would also be cool to have a new show building built somewhere that could feature more than one dark ride but I don't think KI is willing to invest in something like that, I think they're more content making elaborate que lines at the moment
  20. I found out who turned on the light by SOB's station
  21. With the park in the midst of the pandemic and the fact that we've removed two coasters in 2 years I personally don't think KI is willing to let anything go for a while. The Bat is currently 27 years old so I could see them trying to get at least 35 years out of it which would extend it to around 2028. By 2028 hopefully we have a Vortex replacement by then with the hopes of another coaster to round out the 2020s. Iron Dragon at Cedar Point is 33 years old after all. I could see Cedar Point maybe closing that down the road and splitting its parts between us and Canada's Wonderland. Until we get a Vortex replacement, I don't see us getting rid of anymore coasters. Look how long Kings Dominion's held on to Anaconda. I still think Invertigo will be the next coaster to bite the dust. My two cents
  22. I don't think you ever said anything, I was just asking if I was correct or not I've heard from youtubers that there was a Canadian law that prevents companies from other countries to work. For example, RMC likes to build their own rides but if Canada's Wonderland ever wanted to convert Minebuster or Wild Beast, they'd have to hire a Canadian construction company to physically build the ride- RMC could only design manufacturer the track. But that's what I've come to understand, I don't know if that's 100% accurate.
  23. Looking back on things, I'm almost convinced both Nighthawk AND Vortex will be removed for a future coaster. The reason I say both is because Vortex was never converted to a floorless which leads me to believe they're more content with removing it all together. Both coasters sit right behind the main entry area (sort of like how BLSC sits behind International Street in a way). Vortex doesn't take up as much space as Nighthawk but removing both coasters would ultimately allow for more space. I don't know if its small enough to be relocated and converted at another park without breaking the bank. I'm personally not a fan of parks relocating old rides to parks that never get anything (LaRonde getting Green Lantern for example). With that being said though, if Vortex were to be converted to a floorless at say Valleyfair or Michigan's Adventure that might not be as bad. The thing that would upset me would be whichever park receives the hand-me-down would most likely not receive a new coaster for a while; but then again the lower tier parks haven't gotten anything in years anyway so used is better than nothing I suppose. Maybe I'm being too analytical. Maybe they'll just keep Vortex and convert it after they eventually scrap Nighthawk to compensate for a defunct coaster. Maybe they'll scrap them both. Who knows?
  24. Lets be real, this isn't the coaster wars. This isn't early 2000s Cedar Point or Worlds of Adventure. Why would we get a coaster immediately after a $30 million + investment? If anything, immediately getting a new coaster devalues Orion. If people are so hell bent on thinking we're getting a new coaster, it wouldn't even be something huge. The only type of coaster KI could logically get in such a short time frame would be a compact clone like a Sky Rocket, a freespin, or something of that nature and even that's far fetched. The whole industry took a huge hit with this pandemic. Even if quarantine measures weren't put in place and the park opened on time I'd argue attendance would still drop somewhat due to the fear of uncertainty many people have with this virus. No amount of coasters will change people's minds when it comes to their health. People who are deciding to quarantine aren't suddenly going to be more enticed to go to KI if they have another new coaster. A lot of people still haven't gotten to ride Orion yet. Also the whole "Canada's Wonderland got back to back coasters" is a poor excuse. That was early 2000s Paramount- this is cautious 2020s Cedar Fair. If you want to have a park that keeps loading up on unnecessary coasters then go to Magic Mountain. Excuse me while I go eat a Snickers.
