  1. I remember when I made a joke that DP could've gotten Firehawk and renamed it Eagle To be fair, the word "Eagle" is completely in the public domain so it would be cool for Dorney to get an emerald green coaster called "Eagle". Unless they go the Kennywood route and partner with the team.
  2. I'd like to see this take on a more traditional suspended coaster layout. Imagine The Bat but twice at tall, twice as long, and twice as fast
  3. Edit: didn't feel like dealing with the backlash
  4. I know Knott's is naturally better at theming because they kinda have to be. They're in the southern California/Hollywood market where they have to compete with Disney and Universal. Unfortunately here in the Midwest its not as necessary to have insane theming. I'm hoping Boo Blasters gets some work done like Knotts did to their dark ride. It would also be cool to have a new show building built somewhere that could feature more than one dark ride but I don't think KI is willing to invest in something like that, I think they're more content making elaborate que lines at the moment
  5. I found out who turned on the light by SOB's station
  6. With the park in the midst of the pandemic and the fact that we've removed two coasters in 2 years I personally don't think KI is willing to let anything go for a while. The Bat is currently 27 years old so I could see them trying to get at least 35 years out of it which would extend it to around 2028. By 2028 hopefully we have a Vortex replacement by then with the hopes of another coaster to round out the 2020s. Iron Dragon at Cedar Point is 33 years old after all. I could see Cedar Point maybe closing that down the road and splitting its parts between us and Canada's Wonderland. Until we get a Vortex replacement, I don't see us getting rid of anymore coasters. Look how long Kings Dominion's held on to Anaconda. I still think Invertigo will be the next coaster to bite the dust. My two cents
  7. I don't think you ever said anything, I was just asking if I was correct or not I've heard from youtubers that there was a Canadian law that prevents companies from other countries to work. For example, RMC likes to build their own rides but if Canada's Wonderland ever wanted to convert Minebuster or Wild Beast, they'd have to hire a Canadian construction company to physically build the ride- RMC could only design manufacturer the track. But that's what I've come to understand, I don't know if that's 100% accurate.
  8. Looking back on things, I'm almost convinced both Nighthawk AND Vortex will be removed for a future coaster. The reason I say both is because Vortex was never converted to a floorless which leads me to believe they're more content with removing it all together. Both coasters sit right behind the main entry area (sort of like how BLSC sits behind International Street in a way). Vortex doesn't take up as much space as Nighthawk but removing both coasters would ultimately allow for more space. I don't know if its small enough to be relocated and converted at another park without breaking the bank. I'm personally not a fan of parks relocating old rides to parks that never get anything (LaRonde getting Green Lantern for example). With that being said though, if Vortex were to be converted to a floorless at say Valleyfair or Michigan's Adventure that might not be as bad. The thing that would upset me would be whichever park receives the hand-me-down would most likely not receive a new coaster for a while; but then again the lower tier parks haven't gotten anything in years anyway so used is better than nothing I suppose. Maybe I'm being too analytical. Maybe they'll just keep Vortex and convert it after they eventually scrap Nighthawk to compensate for a defunct coaster. Maybe they'll scrap them both. Who knows?
  9. Lets be real, this isn't the coaster wars. This isn't early 2000s Cedar Point or Worlds of Adventure. Why would we get a coaster immediately after a $30 million + investment? If anything, immediately getting a new coaster devalues Orion. If people are so hell bent on thinking we're getting a new coaster, it wouldn't even be something huge. The only type of coaster KI could logically get in such a short time frame would be a compact clone like a Sky Rocket, a freespin, or something of that nature and even that's far fetched. The whole industry took a huge hit with this pandemic. Even if quarantine measures weren't put in place and the park opened on time I'd argue attendance would still drop somewhat due to the fear of uncertainty many people have with this virus. No amount of coasters will change people's minds when it comes to their health. People who are deciding to quarantine aren't suddenly going to be more enticed to go to KI if they have another new coaster. A lot of people still haven't gotten to ride Orion yet. Also the whole "Canada's Wonderland got back to back coasters" is a poor excuse. That was early 2000s Paramount- this is cautious 2020s Cedar Fair. If you want to have a park that keeps loading up on unnecessary coasters then go to Magic Mountain. Excuse me while I go eat a Snickers.
  10. That's true but I'd personally remove Vortex to allow for more space
  11. Nighthawk/Vortex and Flightdeck/Timewarp are two sets of coasters that I personally would like to see removed in favor of a single better ride. Kill two old birds with one modern stone. Nighthawk/Vortex could be replaced with a wing, dive, or compact GCI Flightdeck/Timewarp could be replaced with a modern invert
  12. I remember back when people thought we'd get something like Wonder Mountain's Guardian and I'm kinda happy that wasn't the case
  13. I'm no engineer, doctor, or physicist so I may be wrong but it seems like the less inversions the better. The togos each featured 1 inversion where as the B&Ms usually featured an average of 4/5. Some of the early B&M stand-ups were built with fewer inversions but I still think they were built with inversions in mind as opposed to factoring how those forces would impact the riders. I always figured the smaller stand-ups with less inversions were more well received because they didn't exert as much force on the riders
  14. 350ft tall 101 mph 7,800ft of track Oh yeah that sounds pretty dull
  15. I think Busch Gardens Tampa should get a B&M giga like this concept @DustinTheNow made not too long ago Much like how Millennium Force and Fury 325 were meant to attract more people to their respective parks, I think adding a huge B&M giga would do the park some good. They already have an impressive coaster collection and Iron Gwazi shows that they can make Busch Gardens can be a dominating force in the southern market.
  16. I'd love a spinner but something more on par with Sierra Sidewinder where its more compact and has more rapid spins. Not that I wouldn't welcome something like Time Traveler because it does look like a super fun ride!
  17. This park had always been labelled as the one that doesn't have a lot of good supporting coasters. There's always enthusiasts who think coasters like Flight Deck, Time Warp, Dragon Fire, Minebuster, and Wild Beast should be removed. I know there's a Canadian law that prevents companies from other countries to come in and do work (keeping jobs in Canada eh) so GCI and RMC couldn't come in and work on their woodies- @MisterSG1 is that correct? I think a launched coaster over their White Water Canyon would be nice. If they wanted to continue their trend of adding B&Ms they could get a wing. Heck they could kill two birds with one stone and get a launched wing like Thunderbird. If not they could always go for a Mack.
  18. That's my purse! I don't know you!
  19. As much as I love Arrow Mine trains, a GCI is always a welcomed addition in my eyes. I think Wicked before TTD. Despite its downtime, expensiveness to run, and even Kinzel himself calling it a "dumb decision" TTD is one of the major draws to CP. Wicked Twister was meant to be filler anyway so I don't think the park would miss it as much as TTD. I'm curious, what do you think CP would do after removing TTD if that was the scenario?
  20. Normally I would agree that they should relocate it to a different park but the ball joints under the track would have to be addressed. It's pretty rough with the over shoulder restraints in my opinion. It's already 24 years old so I feel like if they moved it to another park it would only last for so long (not to mention assembling and disassembling might add additional wear and tear). Dominator was only 8 years old when it was relocated to Kings Dominion. Chang (a near clone of Mantis) was relocated when it was 14 years old. I think it would be wise to let it live out the rest of its life at Cedar Point. I daresay it would've been better to relocate it and convert it at a new park like Worlds of Fun where it could've operated for 20+ years. However with its conversion and rebrand they were able to market it as a new coaster and experiment with stand-up conversions that they later repeated with Patriot at CGA. Anyone know why Vortex at Carowinds was never converted?
  21. Updated this poll. Vortex had 23 votes putting it in 3rd place before I took it out. Currently the top 3 are Backlot Stunt Coaster, Invertigo, and Adventure Express
  22. I don't get the logic of removing Gemini. It has the highest capacity of any ride at the park and the wood structure can be maintained. The only reason to remove it would be if the track gets too old. The land isn't anything to write home about unless they chip away at some of the adjacent parking to accommodate more space. Magnum is another one I don't understand. Its surrounded by the water park so a replacement would have to virtually follow the same path. Besides, Magnum has that scaffolding style support structure which made it very narrow allowing for more water park space. If they went big and got say a 400ft tall B&M, they'd have to allow for the supports to jet out into the water park. It just seems like too much of a hassle to tear down and try and replace it vs just spending the money to keep it running. Rougarou on the other hand is a ride I could see them axing. There's nothing super unique about it and I think they could put something better in its place. I'm not saying it would be removed anytime soon but its always one of the coasters that comes to mind when a Cedar Point coaster removals discussion comes up.
  23. The majority of us are Cincinnatians or people who grew up in the greater Cincinnati region. We like what we like. You don't have to comment on every little thing.
