I haven't had a chance to ride it yet but I've heard the near misses aren't really near misses. Is that accurate?

This is mainly in response to Theme Park Prediction's review on Orion. I don't really watch to much of his videos but he said something about KI enthusiasts saying we're butt kissers and we over praise everything. Its not just him who's brought up the KI fanboy thing though. I've heard from a couple YouTubers and seen people who comment on KI related videos claiming they hate KI fanboys (and girls) because were spoiled, overhype stuff, and go nuts when we don't get exactly what we want. Is there a justifiable reason for this? Do we act entitled and expect the park to give us only the absolute best and cry when we don't get our way? While the attractions we get are incredible, do we often label them as underwhelming because we give it too much hype? Do we overpraise things because we want something in return? Do we just come off as ungrateful or too overwhelming? I'd like to hear your thoughts

BUMP Didn't feel like starting all Silverwood thread just to ask a few simple questions. Does Silverwood just serve the Idaho demographic? Do people from cities Seattle and Portland travel out there? Its around a 5 hour drive from Seattle and a 6 hour drive from Portland so about the time it would take to get from Cincinnati to Chicago or Cincinnati to Milwaukee. I know Oregon just got Adrenaline Peak but that's about it. Is Silverwood then the premier park of the Northwest? Do people in Seattle and Portland even go to amusement parks? Is there an untapped market just waiting to be touched here?

Is Kings Island adding a loyalty program?
SonofBaconator replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island
^I knew I went somewhere because I got a "Bring a friend for $10" ticket I agree with @BoddaH1994. Pass holders are saving a ton of money buy getting two seasons in one so I think the park should encourage more in park spending -
Is Kings Island adding a loyalty program?
SonofBaconator replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island
I thought there was a page where you could go to see how many points you racked up -
Sorry to double post but I had a hypothetical question: If Cedar Fair were to acquire Busch Gardens Tampa, would that affect Kings Island's investments? Busch Gardens operates year-round so I think they'd be able to generate enough revenue to sustain themselves. Additionally KI still draws in over 3 million annually so there's still a need to invest. So if not KI would another park be affected like Carowinds? Also could the same thing be said if the company purchased any other park? Worlds of Fun, Valley Fair, Michigan's Adventure and Dorney were all getting pretty good coasters at a decent rate but then after the Paramount buy they became the chain's bottom tier parks. Would buying another park make sense if the parks I just listed aren't getting as much attention as they used to? Again all hypothetical

Is Kings Island adding a loyalty program?
SonofBaconator replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island
Like points based off of transactions if you show a gold/platinum pass. For example if I buy a $4 Coke I earn 1 loyalty point If I buy say a $50 souvenier I'd earn 13 points, and so on. The idea is to encourage in park spending by rewarding guests with things that cost the park little to no money to produce. -
I find it interesting that the current model that has the most votes is the wing. Do those who voted for the wing care to share why?

Is Kings Island adding a loyalty program?
SonofBaconator replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island
I think loyalty programs are a win win for the park and their gold pass holders. Guests spend money and parks give out inexpensive perks and the cycle continues. Some rewards I'd like to see implemented are discounted bring your friend tickets, Fast Lane tickets, discounted merch, exclusive behind the scenes tours, discounted/free canopies at Soak City, etc. I even think it would be cool if there was something for exclusive perks for Platinum Pass holders who accumulate a certain amount of points where pass holdets could get discounts on resort and hotel stays, behind the scenes tours, vip experiences etc. -
Are Dark Rides Worth the Investment?
SonofBaconator replied to SonofBaconator's topic in Kings Island
@purdude86 one of the bigger complaints I would have from family and friends who have little kids is that they're often stuck in Planet Snoopy because their kids aren't quite brave enough to ride bigger family oriented attractions like Adventure Express and BLSC. I think having a 50ft woodie would be a perfect transitioning point for kids who want to try their hand at the bigger rides. Plus it would give the park another woodie, add to the total track length, and give younger guests something new. I completely agree that it would draw in more people; along with a Peanuts dark ride. -
Markers at Cedar Point
SonofBaconator replied to gforce1994's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Unlike Vortex, Volcano and Stinger sat on relatively flat land. I'm not an expert on construction or demolition but I think the digging and grading might have more to do with removing footers and whatever remnants of Vortex were left over. They could be prepping for a future addition but I don't see the need if its going to take a while, unless of course the company they hired is under some type of contract to tend to that land. That or maybe grading and digging is just part of the destruction process? -

Which? Flats or a Gravity Group woodie? -
Are Dark Rides Worth the Investment?
SonofBaconator replied to SonofBaconator's topic in Kings Island
@purdude86 I'd still like to see a 50ft Kentucky Flyer style Gravity Group woodie where the stage and the barnyard currently reside. So the question is, would you rather want more flats or another kid's coaster? -
New Intamin Designs
SonofBaconator replied to SonofBaconator's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
The designs are cool, I just thought there'd have been more originality. People praise Intamin for making innovative, world class rides but most of these designs are very similar to current models. I understand its common practice for manufacturers to make their own versions of other manufacturers work. I also understand these are smaller concepts that aren't meant to be ground breaking but I honestly was underwhelmed. I'm interested to see how their launched single rails turn out though. All in all, it just seems like they've stepped back with these designs. Then again, maybe they want to go smaller to attract smaller parks and rebuild their reputation with chains they haven't worked with in a while like Cedar Fair and Six Flags -
Coronavirus Impacting Theme Parks
SonofBaconator replied to Hawaiian Coasters 325's topic in Kings Island
KI pass holders have two seasons in one pass so 2021 will obviously see more guests, assuming this virus gets handled before then. I don't see KI getting a cloned or low budget coaster to hold over guests since I'd imagine they're trying to save up for Vortex's replacement. -
Kentucky Kingdom

@BeeastFarmer suggested we move talks of Eddy possibly selling the park to this thread so here we are. Is it a far fetched thought that he might want to sell the park or is there reason to think that's a possibility? -
New Intamin Designs
SonofBaconator replied to SonofBaconator's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
These concepts look cool but if it didn't say "Intamin" you'd think they were designs from Premier, Mack, and RMC. I think they're trying to play catch up. Yes they built Pantheon, Hagrid, and the Jurassic World coaster but I think they're trying to find their footing in a changing industry. I think they want to be THE single rail manufacturer since RMC isn't doing much with their single rail concepts. The Skyrocket knockoff doesn't suprise me either since most companies have developed coasters that are compact and easy to clone. The ultra splash is just a power splash knockoff imo. The giga splash looks cool. I just feel like they've become a shell of their former self with these designs. The rapid switch track launched coasters they've made look awesome but other than that the models I've listed are reminiscent of other manufacturer's work. -
Coronavirus Impacting Theme Parks
SonofBaconator replied to Hawaiian Coasters 325's topic in Kings Island
Like I said, it would be a temporary fix. The GCI and RMC theory would make a lot of sense too. I don't know how expensive Skyrockets are. Also raptors are pretty cheap. @bengalsguy23 the bigger parks are confusing. Does CF just go for conversions and low cost coasters? Carowinds could get a GCI, convert their Hurler or even their Vortex. Canada's Wonderland could also get a GCI or go with something like a Sky Rocket II. KI I think would get flats and focus on the water park I think, maybe a GG for Planet Snoopy but that's a stretch. Cedar Point could maybe get a GCI, and work on their boardwalk. -
Coronavirus Impacting Theme Parks
SonofBaconator replied to Hawaiian Coasters 325's topic in Kings Island
I have a bold prediction that some have disagreed with me on but I'm going to share it anyway. With covid-19 affecting the chain, as well as the whole amusement park industry, I wouldn't be surprised if Cedar Fair started to look into cloned rides for some of their parks. It's not Cedar Fair style to buy cloned rides- with exception to WindSeeker in the early 2010s- but you can't deny that they're huge money savers. I always thought that if Cedar Fair was yearning to get people back into some of their parks, they could go with compact clones. We're already seeing that somewhat with Kings Dominion getting a 4d freespin from S&S and while its said that it'll have an original layout, most 4d freespins are similar to one another. The cloning of rides would it be a permanent solution mind you, I'd imagine it could only be something that could hold some parks over while the company's trying to get back some of that lost revenue. For example what if they gave Canada's Wonderland a Premier Skyrocket II model and put it somewhere that doesn't take up a lot of space? Sure it wouldn't be anything new or necessarily groundbreaking but it would give Canada's Wonderland a new launch coaster and something new for guests to enjoy while the chain is trying to recoup some money. They could even go a step further in clone old famous coasters that are defunct for some of their smaller parks. I know fans of wanted some type of invert to be installed at Valleyfair for a while so I don't think wouldn't be a bad idea to give them a clone if an invert. One that comes to mind that I would really like to see cloned is the Chinese Fireball part of the defunt Dragon challenge from Universal. This could give ValleyFair new coaster, Cedar Fair wouldn't have to pay to design a brand new coaster, and I believe fans of ValleyFair would be happy. Like I said maybe I'm 100% wrong on this, but I wouldn't blame Cedar Fair if they chose to go with clones at least during these unprecedented times. -

The fact that is incorporates launches might suggest more downtime than a traditional chain lift
