That looks awesome DiamondBanshee! Best one I think i've seen yet. KI needs to look at this one when designing it.

Guy talking in video like he knows for sure that a Giga is coming in 2019. I just don't see it, although, it wouldn't surprise me. I don't think cost is the issue. Mystic Timbers probably only cost around 10 million. That is about the same as WindSeeker. Therefore, I think with MT being relatively inexpensive, they could afford a Giga in 2019.

ideas on what the park will do for its 50th anniversary in 2022
kirbias1 replied to metalchic's topic in Kings Island
Bringing back The Beast's watermill for the 50th would be amazing. That was such a beautiful gem the park had. You couldn't really appreciate it unless you saw it. Absolutely perfect for Rivertown. -
Yeah, I think 2018 will be a flat ride(s). 2019: Planet Snoopy. 2020: Soak City water coaster. 2021:Dark ride. 2022: Giga ( I hope).

2022. KI's 50 year anniversary. I hope it's not that long from now, though.

I don't think Paramount could've built a B&M, even if they wanted to. Over the years, Paramount tried to get B&M to build some of it's coasters, but B&M had apparently signed an agreement with Cedar Point, stating that they couldn't build any of their coasters at any of it's competitors parks within a certain mile radius. I'm not sure how accurate that is, or if it's just a rumor, but I read and heard that by multiple sources throughout the years.

The prototypes go all the way back to the Taft ownership days, not just Viacom. I don't think Banshee is lame. I believe it is one of the best ( if not THE BEST) inverts out there. I just believe CF doesn't want KI to have any height and speed record breakers at KI, especially, with CP only four hours north.
-
I agree. Banshee is an amazing invert, but CF had a chance to break all the Inverted Coaster records with Banshee. It was the first inverted coaster built in the US in almost a decade, so they had a chance to pull out all of the stops by replacing a record breaker in SOB with another true high caliber record breaker in Banshee. They chose not to because CP has Wicked Twister, which is still the highest and fastest inverted coaster in the world. That is why I believe CF didn't go the extra 50 or so feet higher, to make Banshee the highest and fastest along with longest invert in the world. I also think Diamondback was the other great addition by CF. It's one of the best Hyper Coasters out there.

Yes. I rode Son of Beast. It was a great idea, but bad execution. The first half was good, but rough. I thought the second half was incredibly lame. I do believe if KI would've RMCed SOB, it would've been absolutely amazing, though. You mentioned RMCing SOB as well.......and It made me think of this......What if when Cedar Fair looked into RMCing SOB, (like they say they did by "exploring all options") back in 2012, but instead, that gave Cedar Fair the idea to choose to RMC Mean Streak instead in 2018. RMC was just becoming popular back then. Another possibility is that Cedar Fair already knew they were going to RMC Mean Streak, and they didn't want KI to have an RMC SOB to compete with RMC Mean Streak. Think about it, the projections for Mean Streak's new height is to be 218' high. About same height as SOB! Trippy! Either way, KI is cursed to have Cedar Point only 4 hrs north of us. Next year CP gets a Meaner Streak and this year we get Mistake Timbers. Don't get me wrong, I think MT is a pretty good coaster, but nothing compared to what Mean Streak will be next year. And yes, I am disappointed that CP is going to get a record breaking RMC and we just got something a little better than a kiddie coaster. I believe KI deserves so much better. We used to get record breakers and prototype coasters a lot, now it just seems like good additions that can't compete with CP. Sorry to be a little negative, but I needed to say this.

I have to agree. I do think it is a solid addition, but nothing spectacular. I also believe KI marketed MT so well, that a lot of people are drinking the KI Kool-Aid (so to speak) and believing what KI keeps posting on social media regarding MT being a great woodie. KI deserves so much better than MT, and I think a Giga would've been the better choice.

Can't say I'm a huge fan yet. I've ridden it only 3 times, though. 2 times left side front, and 1 time left side third row. I liked it most in the third row.

Because they could be using the dirt to fill in the uneven land to make it flat. Just a suggestion.
-
maybe they are going to expand back there.
-
I would agree that this seems like the most ideal spot for the Giga. They would have sooooo much room back there to do whatever the wanted after the drop. It fits the park well in terms of spacing the larger coasters apart to make the skyline more aesthetically pleasing. Also, the access from X-base and Coney Mall would be perfect. On a side note: I think a launched Giga would be a unique idea.

Thanks TombRaiderFTW and d-lo775 for commenting. The main reason I asked is because Prowler just seems to look a little better based on the POVs. I've only ridden MT and it is my first GCI, but even before MT opened, I thought Prowler looked better. It seems to have more lateral G's and actually, looks a bit more intense because of the twisted layout and finale coming back to the station. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy MT and think it is a good, solid addition to KI, but by no means am i putting this ride as my new favorite in the park.

Out of curiosity, has anyone on KI Central ridden Prowler and Mystic Timbers? If so, which is your favorite and why?

"They're Coming" - Cedar Point
kirbias1 replied to JubJester's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
For the record, I do think if The Racer did get he RMC treatment, it would be blue and red track, respectively. That's why I thought this could be an RMC hint, but, not likely this soon. -

Yeah, you're probably right. I think I would have an issue with The Racer getting the RMC treatment, anyways. The Racer is too historical to change it that drastically. Plus, I think we need a Giga first. -

"They're Coming" could be a reference to multiple RMC conversions coming to Cedar Fair parks over the next few years. We already know Mean Streak and Hurler are 2 of them. Could The Racer be the third? I doubt it, but we'll see. -

And on the same day Kings Island Snap Chats a picture of The Racer with a blue and a red line drawn going up both lifts that reads...."We can dream, can't we?" -
Would be awesome if they slid shut, though.

I wonder if there will be a door that closes behind the trains as they enter The Shed. It doesn't look like it, though.

Cedar Fair is listing HUSS as the manufacturer of the new flat ride additions to the aforementioned parks. Furthermore, the Condor 2G (Falcon's Flight) ride is listed on HUSS' website. I was simply stating that I heard Cedar Fair was working with HUSS again, and because of this, I am hopeful this will be the start of more Cedar Fair-Huss projects in the future, therefore, yielding a possibility of KI getting a HUSS Jump flat ride. Whether or not HUSS has sold some of their designs, or is subbing their engineering/manufacturing/marketing process out to another firm(s), is besides the point here. You can "Top-Spin it" all you want , but Cedar Fair wouldn't mention HUSS in ANY WAY if they didn't want to restart or continue their business relationship with them.
