Cedar Point abbreviated Trip Report (Friday, June 13th, 2014)

Only one Corkscrew But three Mean Streaks? My head hurts -
Biggest reason for Millie is you can't just stop that ride. Also if it's down loaded on lift hill, ride ops can't just head up the lift to retrieve and scold the guest. Only maint/area mgr/sup can ascent with ride ops. Then restarting on lift and getting it in auto again takes quite a bit of time. That's why you won't see Millie stop for just anything on the lift. It's unfortunate it's design causes hindrances on itself. Safety is important, yet the ride itself and SOP make it hard for enforcement and to keep things moving correctly and safely. If we find a camera on Millie as it goes up we'll spiel it off, or if it's low enough lift stop and hasn't hit the rollbacks yet you can stop it and bring it slow back to station. If it's above and we have time to stop it and get someone on the ride quick we will. If not (usually idiots there wait till lift crest to pull out a phone), we usually see it in the ORP, which will call security on you and wait calmly at the exit ramp. Or if we notice it on the lift hill with our handy dandy secret camera we'll notify security as well.

I don't mind the toast and sauce together actually. To each their own The bread is amazing nonetheless -
It's something from Knotts. Get that and Fright Lane Get that and a key around your neck, get different queue then a new room to start the haunt off with. An actor will give the haunts backstory and chase you out of the room
-
Already a cool feature at Knotts. Will be interesting to see how this is added.

Dunno about the whole Helbig vs Norris deal, I mean Norris has the man beard that Bald Eagles nest in. Helbig has quite the baby face as per grooming guidelines But if you want a good one Don Helbig was bitten by a Diamondback, and after three long excruciating days, the snake died You're welcome

No, not at all, most are from our friendly country up north. Some don't even speak English all that well
-
No there is not, again, not a bad thing at all. I hated seeing a guest be carried up the stairs, or unable to come up because they were in a wheelchair/scooter and were unable to join their children/etc on the ride. I'm glad everything is starting to finally work itself out for most parks across the chain. There is one straggler, and we all know who I'm referring to.

New Cedar Point Live Cams

Please link to the webcam page so the source gets it's much deserved credit please. Speaking of which, I would love for KI to get these, Tower Obviously, but theres a few other great spots they could be placed as well. -
Right, I mean not to sound rude or anything whatsoever, but the ADA compliance thing is the big issue with alot of builds from here on out. Look at all the rides that have ramps, elevators, etc. now that since the 70's did not ever have it. Lots have changed, not necessarily bad at all, but it is an important factor in the future.
-
Yes, but a future new area that will expand will be quite difficult to make..think of all the stairs, ADA compliance, etc if they opened something back there. Put a ride back there ok just a bit challenging with the elevation changes. Areas back there, can be difficult. Again, CP has a lot of land, you as a guest just don't see it. Half of the back area of the park is largely undeveloped

Communication or not..its rude and unnecessary. Just hit interval always and no need for power hours. The ride capacity will work for itself -
I want this as a haunt..I'd pay money to do this at say Breakers @ CP..

Kings Island 2014 Discussion Thread

^^^Nor isn't needed Well organized crews and a cohesive team do not need to have power hours and be rude. Interval will be hit quite consistently when working together and coordinating efforts. Take my main crew early in the season. It took awhile to get used to the flow, how the ride wanted to operate and the norms. Once we all got the hang of it and how to run the ride it was a piece of cake and it dispatched on time just about everytime unless something was out of our control or something was happening on platform. Banshee isn't hard, get someone in crowd to watch the queues, make sure you can load a full train everytime, if not call for what you need & coax them into that row if possible. Train comes in, op in back load needs to be ready to queue the gates (saw a few times he/she forgot to enable gates..which why does KI not use auto gate enables? Never understood that) Let guests through, make sure restraints are up, get em seated, coordinate checks, get it organized, and step back, scan your area once you're done and get ready to clear and dispatch. Order of clears would help speed up platform dispatch, create an extra safety barrier, could decrease dispatch enable panels if desired (I do kind of like the idea if it was a 4 op platform as intended but now isn't needed IMO), and help organize the platform flow. I see about 6 seconds of time wasted on gates to be opened by ops when they should just open when train parks and door raises & locks. Then the time wasted for scan/everyone throwing up a simultaneous clear/enable takes about 11 seconds. This time does add up. Why they don't use one high clear to signal all ops are checked, clears are up, and ready to dispatch is beyond me. It works at many many other parks.d Four high clears, 4 regular clears, all throwing up at once, and the somewhat extra tasks that really could be eliminated, it makes it a bit more hectic for operations. They have it down pat no doubt but it could be easier & eliminate some time on interval. I will say the mics are a great feature, genius idea for that crew, and they do have a good bit of cohesion. But drop the power hour stuff, fix up some operations, and it'll be seamless everytime -
