Again not sure on this one...ID takes they said at least one hour, then if they winch it down just a bit more..

For what I've been told, I've never physically been there during a transfer but it takes awhile to move the track left and right because it has to be done slowly as there isn't anything to keep the cars from swinging, and the track also locks when in position when the table is moved left or right. Lastly there isn't a brake run after the transfer table so if it skids through and doesn't stop, you have to reset the transfer and do it again. I'm not sure how accurate this is as again this is all word of mouth from friends on that crew, I always wanted to see it's difficulty and how they carry it out but never did. The only time I know transfers were used was pre season when we pulled train 3 off of the ride before the ride opened to the GP.

Having flight deck there doesn't surprise me...transferring arrow suspended coasters is not an easy job nor fun..

My encounter with a wild animal during Haunt

What makes a skunk such a great house pet compared to say, dogs, cats, fish, ect.? -
^Sadly won't be happening.. I just wish to see the theming, some more behind the scenes, and whats still in the building. TR was great, no doubt, but favorite experience post TR was 2011. Inception music was great, it was a fun ride, just terrible ride cycle being I think just two or three flips right? That fanfare at the end of the ride though, so fitting.

Lol...I miss testing rides...fun stuff...Only time I had an uh oh for block checks was on maggie...waiting for that train to come back on first dispatch of a very cold day and had rained that morning...it's like...where is it, is it there, comooooonn... Then you see it, yay! Or nay if you didn't wanna work

Staffing cp for weekend operation is hard enough...they even brought back bonuses this year for post season to help with retention. If staffing a park is hard imagine local business. And there is still your typical restaurants...and the stuff outside of the tourist area that you see..but yeah most of route 6 and a good bit of 250 is empty off season
-
yup, and the ones that do are dirt cheap Two times I've stayed at the knights inn up off of rt 6 and stayed in the kings bed suite w jacuzzi, couch, full fridge, and huge room...28 dollars, one time for CP inprocessing prior to the opening of the season, and once during an off season event... Great place to stay btw

Do It All! Kings Island (Commercial)

^yodawg lol I'm still surprised by the changes in parks over the years...back then, brochures, packets, commercials, and press releases about the next year...now we watch facebooks, twitters, and websites.. Man have times changed -
It's easier to close business down before hand when it's good, than keep it open during a week and only make decent money two/three nights...It's why you don't see the parks open during this time too.. You think dusky is dead now, wait till December/January... You can make record time going from 250/6 up to the causeway and there is NO traffic ANYWHERE
-
I just hope it's either something new and exciting or some sort of development more than nothing at all..
-
Just no...Days when the park does extend hours or special events/ect..people still say, or people will moreover go because more bang for their buck... The only problem is rt 6 is a two lane road and handles a good bit of traffic. 250 is a great road but it also serves Sandusky and has multiple stoplights/venues. Then even so you still get bottlenecked into a two lane road until you hit the causeway to CP...There is no highly direct route to CP to take all the traffic coming off of the highway straight to the point, you either take one of four routes that eventually lead to a bottlenecked opening... Also mind you attendance on CBus day weekend is always ridiculous...Always avoid this weekend, it's one of those "last visit of the season" weekends for most people and being a holiday people have it off. We even have a parking ban where employees can't park that day, what's that tell you..

She will be staying here when I take off for Guam, unfortunately. As much as we'd both love the opportunity for us both to go this year, it's not in perfect timing for our careers/finances/ect. Theres no saying later on while I'm there things could change or whenever I come home post Guam or leave during my time there, but as of now there are no plans to go to Guam jointly.

KI Saturday 10/12, first park visit in 7+ years!
thedevariouseffect replied to thegajone's topic in Trip Reports
^It can be the case but not always... Every other ride crew has the same issues, and other parks have the same issues, but they do just fine...There are days this crew shines, and times they really do good, but some times they fall short...Like sending whole cars empty with some queues loaded during ERT in the morning because people want to sit together, not calling single riders, ect..They're a good crew, def. not in my really bad list, but there are small improvements to be made -
KI Saturday 10/12, first park visit in 7+ years!
thedevariouseffect replied to thegajone's topic in Trip Reports
The train can be sent at a minimum of reaching the top of the lift right after the train before has cleared the MCBR, this is it's theoretical capacity. Dispatching at the crypt helix is technically a late dispatch. However I understand hitting theoretical can at many times be a pain, but if the train has stopped in the safety brake and the next train hasn't dispatched or a train is waiting on the ready brake (brake right before the station), then they aren't moving at interval -
^They can just like KI does, but I have never seen it happen, and I don't think that happened this weekend either This is practically what happens EVERY Columbus Day weekend...Me and Lindzey met up and had our first CP trip together in 2011 during this weekend while I was still working, needless to say we really didn't get to hang out and do anything as the park was ridiculously packed. Traffic was backed up to rt 2/rye beach and even on 250. They were even parking people in the grass on the causeway before the tolls it was that crazy... I avoid this weekend like the plague
