  1. This kind of has to do with Kentucky Kingdom, I was wondering about the Enterprise 2G and what might be causing people to not purchase it since the original was bought by many parks. I came across this in the description on HUSS’ website speaking of the original. “The classic ENTERPRISE is one of the most successful HUSS® rides ever built. It enjoyed huge success during the 70s, 80s and 90s, with more than 75 attractions being sold worldwide. Nearly all of these rides are still in operation, clear proof of the high quality of HUSS® rides.” That last sentence made me laugh very loud as these things seem to be coming down left and right. Maybe parks don’t have confidence in reliability since they are claiming the originals to be reliable? Edit: it looks like the one at KK lasted 27 years, what is the average shelf life for a “reliable” high thrill flat ride?
  2. Ah, I remember the times when the souvinier cups were larger than they are now and it didn’t matter if you bought this season or last season. No barcodes to scan. Your cup says “Kings Island” on it and you could use it.
  3. That’s irrelevant to the complaints most are giving in this thread. Many are speaking of first impressions and or vibes they get from poor lot appearance. Last I checked, you get free parking at Kings Island too, provided you have a gold pass. Which lets be honest, with it taking only two trips for it to be worth it, why would anyone in the vicinity of Cincinnati (including Louisville) not get a gold pass?
  4. Bumpy roads make for great stories...
  5. Holiday Worlds parking lot, at least last time I went is ACTUALLY gravel in the back half. That doesn’t take away any of my enjoyment.
  6. As a guest, I truly don’t notice the parking lot that much. I take much more notice to the seemingly nonsensical arrangement of cones when I’m there rather than asphalt quality.
  7. Who wants to bet they go with the 24 passenger rather than the 48? I bet they also cheap out on adding lights to it since they aren’t standard equipment
  8. It is probably very likely, that on any given day, there is a larger percentage of gold and platinum passholders in the park than there are single day admission tickets. this would negate a lot of potential revenue from parking toll. To tear up and redo the pool area around back of my house which is approximately a 55x45 concrete slab with a pool cut out of the middle which lessens the overall concrete area. Was around $10k. Now given this was the higher grade “stamped” concrete I can’t see regular asphalt costing much less. Now if you compare that small space to however large King’s Islands parking lot is, the price would likely quickly soar into the millions of dollars.
  9. Unless they edited it, it said Largest wooden coaster in North America. This leads me to believe they would be going for the height record rather than the length record, otherwise why say largest in North America (and not world) when the longest is already in North America.
  10. Yes. Someone does FoF96” filling in for a friend
  11. If the plan is to outsource all of the food, it seems like the park is instead of trying to fix the issue, trying to get someone else to take the blame for it. If, like they said, the potential workforce is mostly garbage (which I don’t disagree with) where do they think these outside companies will get their employees from? It seems like a way out so they can say “oh you had a bad experience with food? Unfortunately you will need to take that up with xyz corporate as we are not the owners/operators of your poor experience.”
  12. ^ I think it is just some loose debris. If you look at the ground that’s next to the roof there is a shadow to the left. In the picture the hole or debris is lit up. From the angle the photo was taken there would have to be a shadow in that spot if it were a hole and not lit up like it is.
  13. What height does KD’s DT take riders to? I know our structure is taller but theirs falls farther. Is it because of a shorter brake section or due to traveling higher? upon looking, Ki’s website claims the Worlds Tallest Gyro Drop while KD’s claims Worlds Longest Gyro Drop.
  14. When I worked at the Kingdom, we were very low tech about this. There was no real way to monitor the coaster lines outside of your immediate view. We relied on guest reports of line jumping and in the event it was reported, we had to get confirmation from someone nearby outside of the original reporting party. Then we called security and before the person even knew what was going on, they were walked out of the line (and sometimes the park, depending on their interaction with security).
  15. Kings Islands Intamins are mostly flat rides and with the exception of the Rapids Ride, most Intamin flats have a workhorse reputation with very little downtime.

A problem I see with buzz bars is an issue that can be regularly seen on rides like Viking Fury. America's...stature has changed since the time of buzz bars so what happens when a person with a huge gut wants to ride with their 48" kid that weighs 80 pounds. It leaves the bar so high off of the kid that there can be a genuine safety concern. On Viking Fury they make kids sit towards the middle of the row, something they can't do on The Beast.
  17. Maybe they want to hold off the announcement until Winterfest to help promote the event and get people out there. It is much later than normal announcements but they have no idea how this event will go and they will probably do anything they can to get people in the door.
  18. Was Attitudes a common name among theme parks? Kentucky Kingdom also had an Attitudes shop that used to be under Chang's corkscrew and is now Taco Tequilla. If I recall correctly they had the same logo too.
  19. ^ I disagree with that statement. Just a year or two ago Kings Island spent a lot of money upgrading Flight of Fear. Many lights that formerly had been out were either repaired or replaced. Old lighting tech was replaced with new high tech LED's and all of the old TVs were replaced. It may not happen every year, but they do on occasion pay big $$$ to spruce up a ride.
  20. You would think that... however after I got off that ride cycle, went promptly to buy a hoodie. My hands were so cold.
  21. Anyone want to petition WindSeeker be open? (Only kidding, rode that thing on a chilly haunt day. That was bad enough.)
  22. I may be wrong, but if they installed the HVAC system for AC. It is very likely that they also have heat. Aren't heaters much simpler than A/C's?
  23. Wow after watching the Railblazer pov, I'm not sure I could convince myself to go on it. The combination of the single row seats along with the thin single rail give me an unsturdy feeling even in the animation.
  24. So. Should we assume that there will be no announcement this year since it was due in late April/early May?
