Holiday World 2018 additions
FoF96" replied to Gannersdaddy's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I visited Holiday World last weekend and noticed a few things since my last visit. Not sure if they were announced or not. Waterpark was just as fun as always. Hallow Swings has a new lighting package. They ditched the old style lights and went full led, there is much less flashing than before. All 3 of the woodies were running fairly smooth, the Raven was the roughest out of the 3 while Voyage was running really well along with Legend. The Legends bell that is usually rung when leaving the station is either broken or there was a group of operators that just didn’t feel like ringing it. I even specifically asked on my second ride, one said they took it out completely, which was false, as it was clearly visible on the brake run on the way back in and the other one said it broke. I’m not sure how a bell breaks unless the rope just dry rotted through and they haven’t replaced it yet. -
What I will say is that if there is one thing Kentucky Kingdom is consistent on, it is the Ride Lite policy. Their coasters don’t have mics on the lifts like Kings Islands do, so the last opportunity to communicate is in the station. While I was there, there was only one time I was able to justify stopping a ride already in progress. A guest pulls an iPad out from his shirt. How tf does anyone think it is remotely ok or safe to pull out an iPad while on a coaster. The same guest had the nerve to attempt to say they weren’t going to hand it to the technician responsible for ensuring the ride was safe before restarting it. The tech made the joke to me “he was lucky I was in a good mood or I would have said fine I’m going to start walking down this lift hill and go to the engine room, I’ll start it back up once I hear it hit the ground.”

That’s almost the equivalent of Kings Island Diamondback rollercoaster strands riders! When it was halfway onto the lift and half on the tires. Then following that up with something like “Young boy fell from Eiffel Tower many years ago at Kings Island” im just glad they determined it was the result of a computer error and not poor maintenance. I’m not sure how they would have had any idea about the error unless the computer told them which obviously it didn’t or the ride would have e-stopped itself.

I love the last paragraph of the article since we are talking about T3.
-
Per KK Facebook page, T3 was operational today.
-
There is a brake area on the backside parallel to the amphitheater which brings it to a complete stop. The train then slowly makes a 90 degree turn into the transfer brake area which is normally where it waits while one is in station. Then after another 90 degree turn there is the station. It sounds like train 1 was stationary on the transfer area while train 2 either overshot or was released from the second break run.
-
T3 has a 0 car, only it’s mounted to the rear. I would think the people in the train that got hit would be more shaken up because they couldn’t see it coming.
-
from how the article reads it sounds like that for whatever reason there was no train in the station and that the second train ran through the second holding brake which normally brings the train to a complete stop before it proceeds to the transfer brake area.

I seriously hope you aren’t being serious, especially with the new RMC having a similar incident less than a month ago without any such remarks being made.

T3 Had an incident similar to that of SV today... link:

Has anyone ridden the new Enterprise replacement? I’ve seen a few pictures of it and I’m kind of surprised the park didn’t make a post announcing it is officially open.
-
Definitely not as this person is in a leadership position. He said he just found out so it may have just been agreed upon.
-
Just saw an interesting post from someone who works at the Kingdom saying team members get into KI, CP, and several other parks with their kk team member badge. Does anyone that works at KI know if this was a two way agreement and you all also get into KK with your badge?

Camden Park: Spider Collapses
FoF96" replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
It sadly probably was that trivial. A lot of people today do things without considering the consequences. At KK, when becoming a ride operator, we had to watch someone be ran over by a rollercoaster on video to get the message of how dangerous these machine are. -
East Louisville about 120 miles 1.75 hours 71N all the way up

^it is the even numbered rows. The odd numbered ones are the front of the cars which have the “space ship” shape that takes away legroom.

Should have pointed to the batwing and said “you aren’t supposed to say this out loud, but that used to be level with the rest of the ground!”

Dorms maybe coming to Dorney

I think this is a good idea, a few years ago when I really wanted to work at an amusement park I was unable to because KK was closed. I would have considered going to KI or HW had they provided housing since I’m too far to commute daily. -
That’s some pretty clean smelling sewer water!
-
Ah. I have no experience around that time. In the mornings, the only spot with occasional moderate traffic is going down the hill onto the bridge. After that, it usually clears up reasonably well. .
-
What time do you all go? I have never run into traffic in Cincinnati on 71N on the way to KI. I usually leave Louisville by 8 so I can be at park by 10

Does anyone know which version of Breakdance CF bought? KK has a Breakdance No. 3 I believe which is slanted in every direction as opposed to a flat platform that is tilted. A Breakdance No. 2 could work at KI with its high capacity and higher speeds than other models. I will say after working the one at KK, they are kind of a pain to load/unload as you have to release each individual bar as opposed to a universal release button.

In Louisville, the neighborhoods with higher amounts of money are basically anything east of I-65. (St. Matthews, Hurstbourne, Springhurst, Anchorage, etc.)

Steel Vengeance to open in 2018 at Cedar Point
FoF96" replied to IndyGuy4KI's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Perhaps, but LR is a different manufacturer with a different setup before the station. On SV the transfer area is after the station on LR the transfer area is used as the block behind the station. When it happened at KK it didn’t make the news but if you look at the front of the purple train you can tell it was reworked as the pointed part on the front is a completely different shade of purple than the rest of it. -

It will likely run with 1 train until the brake area can be modified. Lightning Run had a similar incident to this when it was new. The original transfer area on that only had friction wheels which were not enough to fully stop the loaded train in pouring down rain. There are a few brakes in that area now.
