Oh it's no doubt the park is the experts on the issue. I just ended up on an off topic tangent about the law enforcing a company policy. I agree with the policy actually.
-
That's odd to me. That's like saying it's a misdemeanor to take 5 items into the Walmart changing room when the sign says the max is 4. It's a company policy which usually isn't covered by laws. I guess it has to do with it being "dangerous" to ride the rides.
-
Just out of curiosity, what exactly is the law and, also, the parks policy about on ride videos? I'm pretty sure the park's policy is none at all, but I wonder what the actual law says.

Pretty sure you can check the Firehawk thread for signs of site clearing.

I think the artwork indicates a belagio/World of Color type shop. Probably not on that scale and not nearly as many nozzles, but that seems to be the general idea.

He wasn't claiming some inside info. It was poor wording. Trollish or not.

Looks like they did some smoking area relocations.

Not record breaking? It's right next to Tropical Twister which is 43' tall. Look at the size of that lift hill compared to that? This thing has to be 1000' tall!
-
From a logistics standpoint, it makes little sense. They already have The Beast, Diamondback, and MT on the right side of the park. It's better to spread the crowds around the park more. The back left corner really makes the most sense.

Don't blame yourself. This issue has been bubbling up here for years. At one point mods were threatening bans for users not capitalizing ride names properly. It was directly attributed to an edict from the park. Theres been a number of other things over the years in a similar vein. This was coming at one point regardless. Theres clearly two sides to this issue(three if you count those who don't care either way). Neither is necessarily right nor is either necessarily wrong. As a customer of KI, I am not beholden to them to keep secrets nor am I stuck to their timetables for information being released. While on their property, I am required to, and do, go by their rules. While off their property, if I'm not breaking the law, theres nothing they can really do about it. I'm a paying customer. They don't pay me. Now there are members of this site who are employees of the park, and they have different rules, and I respect that. As for this site, by using this board, we are expected to abide by their rules if we want to keep using it. They have decided that the park has some level of control over what's posted here. How much control is not known to the public. I've seen glimpses of what they've been told, and by who, both posted publicly and private messages. Personally I feel it's an over-reach, but it's not my board. I, like others, would like more transparency. We've been given some vague guidelines, but no one, not even the mods, seem to know when those will change, or be applied to the more important decoding 2020 thread. If that one turns into a "wait for the park to release it" thread..... turn out the lights. As a point of comparison, the Universal and Disney parks have many boards covering them. They typically fall into two categories. One is where the boards post park press releases word for word, post glowing reviews, and generally stop any negative or "non public" info. Those are the ones where the owners get invited to media events, get comps, passes, hotel rooms, etc. The other is the ones that pretty much let anything go except clearly illegally taken photos. Those don't get recognized by the park nor any of the perks.

I think I summarized why pretty well in my post, but someone posting an aerial pic from 1000's of feet up or even a cell phone picture from ground level is not ruining anything for the park or the marketing department. Especially on a board where I'm betting 75%+ of the people reading already have season passes. Forcing people that don't work for the park to keep that info secret does not build excitement. On the other hand, it has certainly created some level of controversy amongst the parks biggest supporters. I think the writing is on the wall for that one. I think its being said without being directly said that those type of posts aren't going to be allowed going forward either. If they are being this restrictive about a refurb, how are they going to be when it comes to a $30+ million ride? Thats why I'm being so vocal about this now. I'm concerned about what the decoding 2020 thread is going to turn into.

I'm not advocating for anyone to do anything illegal. Nor do I feel I have the right to anything. I'm on the opposite side. I like construction. I like seeing the process and how things are done. The how's and why's that they do things is fascinating to me. I probably will never ride the antique autos, but I like looking at the pics to see how it's being built. I also like the decoding aspect to new projects. Trying to figure out what's going on before it's announced. It's like a big puzzle. I have no problem with those who want no info and to be surprised. I largely stay away from movie sites for movies I want to see for that reason. It's easy enough for those who want to be surprised to avoid the decoding and rumor threads. Seeing whats going on with international street by the .0000000001% of their customer base that reads this isn't going to ruin anything for the park, nor will it cost them one cent. Micromanaging a message board and threatening people(if thats really whats going on) can cost them money. They could, but that's the job of their marketing department. To inform the public and build excitement for projects that will translate to sales. Keeping things secret does not build excitement or create sales.

Bodda's post disagrees with this. I've also seen conversations to the contrary. I, like others, would like an official statement on this, but know that's not going to be coming. I come here because you usually get quicker and better info about new rides and improvements before any other site. With a major addition coming next year, I'm concerned that things are going to be censored because "the park hasn't released it yet" and it's going to drive people to other sites. It's not been a problem in the past, but this international street thing has stooped to a new low of tampering. For Banshee and MT, blueprints/footer plans were posted before any kind of official release happened. If they are going to flip out over legal aerial photos for what amounts to some concrete and paver work, I can't imagine them allowing blueprints.

The park can't admit to exerting control over an independent website. Thats even if it's official park policy and not just individuals who work for the park pursuing their own agenda. And, for obvious reasons, an independent website can't admit to doing the bidding of the park, or the individuals mentioned above. Depends on what cards is she holding. If the hot senior girl is just dating the QB, what good does that do for the rest of the team? Sure it's great for the QB, but the backup linemen want to see pictures too. lol

Nearmap isn't satellite, it's aerial. And they do passes over most the country a few times a year. Certain areas more than others. But yeah, theres nothing illegal they are doing, so they'll keep doing it.
-
I think a more accurate answer is here:
-
If you asked the person to dm you the link, theres not much they could do to stop it.
-
Wonder if the *redacted* media team has sent Nearmap a cease and desist?

In 2012, no. At that point, they would have already had a contract with B&M for Banshee. If you go back before then, I'm sure there's a point where they would have. The year it stopped running, if they could have fixed it, they probably would have done so. The farther you get from there, the less likely for a fix.
